The recent Nintendo Direct, most notably as Wii U Direct, has a “bit” of controversy at the WiiWareWave site. Repurchasing Virtual Console title isn’t really new. There are a few NES titles available to download from the Nintendo 3DS for which there is no current way to download them for free to those who previously purchase the same title from the Wii, despite the fact that both systems are connected to the same Club Nintendo account.
A.J. says: "Nintendo's Virtual Console has been a treasure trove of great classic games ever since its debut back in November 2006. Now that it's ten years old, let's take a look at the first five Virtual Console games that I ever reviewed."
The author should have mentioned the huge problem with the Virtual Console: Nintendo ties all digital purchases to hardware, not accounts. If your Nintendo console or handheld breaks, is lost, or stolen, you lose all your digital purchases. No one should buy any Virtual Console games unless and until Nintendo changes this harsh, anti-consumer policy.
Review for Balloon Fight on NES. Hey, you popped my balloon. Nintendo has produced many classics over the past few decades and Balloon Fight is definitely one worth checking out. It features unique gameplay that's still fun after all these years. Seeing as it's available for many different consoles, there is no reason not to give it a try.
So many great classics came out of the NES era, most of them still playable today, despite their age. You most likely recognize the likes of Metroid, Mario and Zelda. Balloon Fight though? No, we didn't think so. That's because Balloon Fight quite clearly hasn't stood the test of time.
5/10?
Why? Balloon Fight is a very challenging, replayable game from the nes era that plays just as well as it did on the original hardware. What's not to like?
instead of nintendo adding NES/SNES games on wii-U eshop they should make new ip's like they did with DONKY KONG COUNTRY RETURN. (RETURN OF CLASSIC HOME-SOME FUN)
I do find it a little stupid that I have to pay $1 to redownload any VC titles that I transferred from my Wii to my Wii U so that I can play them on the Wii U VC, instead of having to boot up the Wii U in Wii mode to play them for free. Since booting up the Wii mode takes so god damn long, I am probably going to have to resort to repurchasing them, but thank god I only have like 10 VC titles. What if I had 100? You would expect me to shell out $1 per title for the convenience of playing them on my Wii U?
I guess the $1 can be attributed to the fact that at least we can play the games on the gamepad, that alone is worth the extra $1 in my mind...
But it's still a little low for Nintendo to make us pay again to get the same title..
it really doesnt need to be backwards compatible its not the same systems...but the games will be downloadable and playable on the wiiu just as nintendo says
