Depends on what they do with the original content too, Divinity II and Two Worlds II were re released for $40 with massive expansions, in the case of Divinity they also fixed most of the issues people were complaining about in the original release. I'd pay 40 for an expanded Dragon's Dogma re issue and those other free goodies, it's not much when you consider the cost of other leisure activities.Going out for dinner with my wife is a minimum $100 for a couple of hours fun, taking the kids to the football is 100 when you factor in parking and snacks, gaming is a cheap pastime.

I loved Dragons Dogma. I waited for this expansion.
..but, I wont be buying this for $40 as they are lying. A month or two after Dragons Dogma released, they said "dont sell your copies! We have a surprize expansion in 2013!"
So, screw your lies Capcom! There is no technical limitation, you're forcing rift crystals and a stupid ferry stone gimmick for $20 more than the DLC is worth.

They ruined it for those who have already supported the game, because the only way they can access the extra content is to buy the whole game again. For those who haven't bought it yet, it's a good deal. For those who have, it can be seen as a slap in the face.

Something tells me that they will eventually release this by download, after they have gotten all the sales from the people who loved the game enough to buy the same game again just for the expansion.

Of course maybe there really were technical issues, heck if I know.

The whole game has been tweaked.
it's not like you've been asked to buy a whole game again , it's a halfprice deal and there is nothing wrong with that.

i'd rather have this than expansive "extensions" that were in fact cuts from develloppement.

Now we've got the whole game tweaked from feedback from the first users and capcom already supported teh first game with hard/mode /time attack mode and other things that were FREE stuff.

Shivering isles was 30 when it was first release so if this has that much new content plus the original game it's worth it. No body complained about shivering isles and this is only 10 more bucks

Oh so for everything else getting new areas, new weapons, new armor, new side quests, new story is an expansion but because capcom is behind this and it's the EXACT same thing as what I just said its a cash grab. Off my high horse? Have YOU read about the expansion? Half the data is a Capcom excuse to charge $40. At least with Shivering Isles you actually paid for what you got. Everything in the expansion itself is only worth $20, it was the same thing with Super Street Fighter IV. But what else could I expect from a person that defends the Final Fantasy XIII trilogy for the same B.S. that he hates on the DmC game. You flip flop worse than the shoes of the same name.

Capcom did right by Dragon's Dogma, but they lied when they said they'd re-evaluate their DLC practices, and they feed us excuses with this. Only an absolute brain dead moron thinks Dark Arisen is worth $40 when half of that is the vanilla game itself. And if you really believe Capcom's story that they couldn't make a DL only expansion at $20, then you're the worst form of naive around. I'd call you a Capcom fanboy, but your flip flopping nature makes you worse than that.

Most likely, it may have a few downloaded things, but it sounds to me like almost all of it is on the disc. At least the core stuff. The only things I see that could really be true dlc that you'd have to download is the infinite ferrystones, the 100,000 rift crystals, and the Gransys armor pack.

I think what I'm going to do is trade in DD and use that money to get the new version. The reason being is that the game is still high priced at the store so I'll likely get $15-$20 for it which is taking half the price off the newer version being released in a few months. I think that's pretty much worth it.

Not to mention...once the newer one comes out with all the dlc and stuff, there's really no point in holding on to the original unless you have some type of weird connection to the box itself.

The only downside is that I won't be able to play Dragons Dogma for a few months, but that's ok. I've got PLENTY of other games I've needed to finish(for years :P). I'm lookin' at you "The Saboteur."
