Both characters show more than potential when it comes to both exploring and surviving. From being brought in different worlds, with different genders and different ideas; which explorer is better at their job?

Might be an age old question but the only correct answer is Lara Croft. She’s flawless in her adventuring skills previous to upcoming release) while Drake will make mistakes.

th3n00bg4m3r4100d ago

"...while Drake will make mistakes." which makes Drake more believable than Lara Croft.

Valenka4100d ago

Agreed. Personally, I love them both, but I have been a Tomb Raider fan since the first game and Lara isn't flawless, but she's quite close to it.

MikeMyers4100d ago

This is about who's the better explorer, not who you like more or which series you like better. I like Nathan Drake's character more but Lara is definitely more of an explorer. The Uncharted series is much more linear, and that isn't a bad thing.

I often wonder if people are more likely to choose an exclusive title over a multiplat no matter what the context is.

ATi_Elite4100d ago

Pittfall Harry is the best cause he's the one Drake and Lara are created after.

BlaqMagiq244100d ago

LOL!!! He IS the OG explorer after all!

On-topic: This is a tough one. What I would like to see is some kind of crossover between the two. And I mean the OG Lara not the OMG-you're-an-explorer-and -you-can't-****in-swim!? Lara.

Quiescent4099d ago (Edited 4099d ago )

Perfection isnt interesting its boring making mistakes is more human relatable and preferable

Nathan Drake

I love Lara I really do but I'm not just going to say her because of nostalgia reasons or because she came first.

Drake is funny, witty and is a likable character. Lara really hasn't been given much character development other then her shown to be smart and sensible when it comes to situations

rocky0475864100d ago

What does that have to do with exploration though? Lara Croft excels in exploration where Nathan Drake kind of just stumbles upon what he's looking for. Lara Croft is smarter, more cunning, and she handles herself better in situations when exploration is in effect. She's a survivor and Drake is just a hood rat compared to her. I love both of the characters though.

pr0t0typeknuckles4100d ago

coming from someone that has played both series i gotta say lara croft, she has the skills, the tech, of course she just like drake has the knowledge, and she has more money which opens up the possibilty to get contacts that can inform her about certain artifacts, shes gone up against more mythological creatures, and she has found more mythological artifacts and typically she never needs help, shes a one woman army.

ScubaSteve14100d ago

Laura croft for the sex appeal

Snookies124100d ago (Edited 4100d ago )

Sex appeal? In that case, Sully for the great ass. Lol sorry, couldn't help that one. Drake knows what I'm talking about... He knows...

Ezz20134100d ago (Edited 4100d ago )

uncharted 2 ...jungle chapter lol

Best line ever in Uncharted series in my opinion, other than "Oh Crap!"

Oh this too! http://www.youtube.com/watc...

Enemy4100d ago

Gotta go with Nathan Drake. Even Lara Croft realizes this, hence the new Tomb Raider looks like an Uncharted clone.

EddieNX 4100d ago (Edited 4100d ago )

Uncharted is Tomb raider X indiana jones....

Uncharted is great lol. I'm just saying... You can't say say TR is an UC clone...

Enemy4100d ago

Tomb Raider invented platforming and treasure hunting? More Indy than anything else, which hasn't been turned into an Uncharted type game, by the way. Don't give up, Wii U!

Ezz20134100d ago (Edited 4100d ago )

so why uncharted is Tomb raider ??!!
do you even know what you talking about ?!

Imalwaysright4100d ago (Edited 4100d ago )

"Tomb Raider invented platforming and treasure hunting?" Oh not at all, TR basically set the standard for 3D adventure games more than 15 years ago.

Old McGroin4100d ago

@ Enemy

Uncharted is an evolution of the Tomb Raider template and it's pretty clear to see. But there were games before Tomb Raider as well. Pitfall springs to mind. And there were games before Pitfall, an so on.

Neither Uncharted nor Tomb Raider are totally unique, original ideas.

The Best Tomb Raider Games Ranked

We've gone on many adventures with Lara Croft. With another reboot in the making, Wealth of Geeks felt it was a good time to go down the nostalgia rabbit hole and remember the best of those tomb-raiding thrills.

I do agree that Tomb Raider Angel of Darkness was the worse one 😂 I remember playing some of it and I took it back. That game was just awful in every way. I bought it used at gamestop and glad they had that 7 day return policy for used games 😂

Pyrofire9551d ago

Would it be worth saying why?

ZeekQuattro51d ago

Simple. He's been hating on the Tomb Raider reboots for years. I can't imagine seeing them at the top of a best TR game list let alone being on the list in general sitting well with him because of it.

-Foxtrot51d ago

Zeek

“Hating”

No no, just pointing out how TR mutated into a generic action adventure game losing the appeal of what it once was when it was more about puzzles and platforming over going Rambo, slaughtering waves of enemies

But hey, continue being a dick and speaking about me like I’m not going to see the comment.

MeatyUrologist50d ago

Foxtrot, I'm curious if you have played the most recent games. Sure the 2013 reboot was hugely focused on combat, but each follow up became less and less about combat to the point where outside of a few large scale story missions I don't even remember combat being a part of shadow of the tomb raider. Shadow was so puzzle focused it actually was a bit much for me and I love the TR puzzles.

I still feel like Rise was the best of the series and I was a huge fan of the originals. To me it struck the perfect balance of exploration, platforming, puzzles, and combat. Not saying your opinion is wrong I'm just curious what you think they should have done different. Games do need to evolve somewhat to stay relevant. Would you prefer small linear jumping platform levels like the original?

RavenWolfx51d ago

I would agree Rise for 1 and the reboot as 2. Shadow is a bit high, though.

Sonic188151d ago (Edited 51d ago )

I think Shadow wasn't even develop by crystal dynamics. I thought it was the worse in the new trilogy

Pyrofire9551d ago

That's right. Shadow was developed by Eidos Montreal who who went and made Marvels Guardians of the Galaxy next. (Great game)
Meanwhile after Rise of the Tomb Raider, Crystal Dynamics made Marvels Avengers. (bad game)

MeatyUrologist51d ago

Agrees. First two are correct but Shadow should be around 5-6.

terstomp51d ago

For me, Legend should be alot higher (along with the other two ). Shadow, I enjoyed it, but has too much has fluff, as modern games tend to do. Playing the remastered series, and apart from the controls, is very good.

jznrpg51d ago

I really enjoyed the first 2 games, Legend and the first of the reboots and the rest I didn’t get into so I never finished.

robtion51d ago

Completely subjective list. I really liked Underworld, I preferred Lara's design. That said I loved the horror/uncharted feel of the reboot. I think all the TR games have strengths and weaknesses. None are objectively better in every way.
