Dead Space 3: 10 Reasons It Sucks

WC: The Dead Space 3 demo dropped yesterday for PS3 and Xbox 360, and the Internet has been abuzz with conflicting impressions of it. Ever since the first footage debuted at E3, I was sceptical about the inclusion of co-op multiplayer, fearing it might dilute the experience just as it had done with the last two Resident Evil games. Though the game has some nifty new mechanics and feels a whole lot like John Carpenter’s The Thing (which can never be bad), it hasn’t done a whole lot to dissuade me from these complaints. Many have also stood up in defence of the title, however, claiming that it simply represents the evolution of the franchise.

Anyway, I’m not personally convinced; this feels like a game being crafted to suit the highest number of people possible, more a commercial calculation than an attempt to create a game that is consistent in tone with the previous entries into the series. Of course, we have to remember that this is “only” a demo, so things like the visuals might be tidied up before the final product is released in 2 weeks. Nevertheless, on the strength (and moreover, the weakness) of this demo, here are 10 reasons why Dead Space 3 sucks.

Great list, except for the "3. No Deathmatch Mode", that shouldn't be in anyway

Very true, it's why I'll not be getting it this time. I'm sick of companies trying to destroy franchises for a bigger audience. It never works out

RIPSKATEDESTROY4107d ago

How about you wait until the game release and THEN make your list

Root4107d ago

Don't give me the wait untill the release bullcrap

You don't need to play the full game to make an opinion on something

I've seen every preview, interview, screenshot, teaser, trailer, gameplay trailer and even played the demo a few times.....thats why I agreed with this list. They arn't trying to downplay the obvious.

The emo kids always follow the first review they read much like a moth to the flame. You cant change them. It's in their nature.

10 min from now you'll see post saying Dead Space 3 will be the greatest game ever. Just a matter of luck of the draw timing which one the sheep will read first.

RIPSKATEDESTROY4107d ago

Actually, playing the full game YOURSELF is a great way to see if a game works for you or not. But hey, whatever floats your boat

Root4107d ago

@RIPSKATEDESTROY

Yeah just give them my money when I already know what to expect...great plan no wonder developers treat us like crap

@hellvaguy

LOL...emo, what the hell are you on....are you 12

Hicken4107d ago

OF COURSE, the best way to decide whether or not you'll like a game is to play the full, final version.

Unfortunately, that comes with the risk of spending your hard-earned- or not- money on a game you could very well hate.

FORTUNATELY, there are all sorts of ways to get information on a game BEFORE buying it, so that you can see whether or not it'll be worth your money. Those resources are the reason I've bought very few (maybe three?) games over the years that I haven't loved.

Root is well within his rights to take the available information on this game and decide whether or not he will like it. Just as others can look at what it offers and decide that it's a DEFINITE buy for them.

RIPSKATEDESTROY4107d ago (Edited 4107d ago )

i never said my opinion was better, im just saying my opinion on the matter. I just hate when someone judges the entire product based on a demo.

@root just speak with your wallet, thats the only thing which makes a difference.

as i said, whatever floats your boat

Why Dead Space 3 Will Be the Hardest to Remake

If EA and Motive Studio plan on remaking all the main Dead Space entries, they have to change a lot of what made Dead Space 3 so divisive.

Simple, do not bother with a Dead Space 3 remake. Rather have a new entry for Dead Space.

myfathersbastard412d ago

Yeah I agree. Make a dead space 3, but have an original story/setting. They’ve proven they can do the game justice, and I think they could evolve 2 in a good direction, keeping a similar tone. I’d love s Dead Space 2 and 3 though. The remake was fantastic. Top tier remake, up there with RE2.

jznrpg412d ago

Remaking 3 would need to be a reworked and somewhat changed remake as 3 was flawed in most peoples eyes and the worst entry.

Ninver412d ago

It's the worst in the series.

Dead Space 3, A Ten Year Reunion

WTMG's Kyle Nicol:

"Was Dead Space 3 really that bad?

Well, it’s a complicated question. Dead Space 3 is undeniably the weakest of the trilogy. It’s a game that deviates so far from the original formula, that it throws a lot of what made Dead Space special in the first place out of the window. Although, where it does make up for it is one of the best cooperative shooters on the market, even after all this time. Do I recommend playing this game ten years later? Hell yes. But make sure your expectations are in the right place. It has a lot of problems that bring it down."

They need to seriously continue this ip with a new entry. Even if it's just another movie I don't care I love everything about this game.
