2012: A Miserable Year for Gamers

IGN Writes: But not in the way you might think.

2012 was a miserable year for gamers. Not because the Wii U didn't hit with quite the bang we were hoping for. Not because the PS Vita failed to find a healthy audience. Not even because Mass Effect 3 didn’t quite stick its landing. Instead, 2012 was a miserable year for gamers because developers are perfecting the art of making us feel that way – and it’s a good thing.

i got the chance to play Witcher 2 wich is loved on 360. Amazing Game.

Halo 4 is amazing i loved the game aswell Forza Horizon.

Hitman Absolution, Dishonored, Far Cry 3 were so good.

Journey surprised the hell out of me, probably my personal Goty even if its Sony and i dislike Sony, i have to admit this and 2013 looks amazing for Ps3 Gamers, i have a Ps3 and i cant wait for Last os Us and God of War man, thanks Sony i dont like you but your games... damn your motherfuc**** games...

i could go on, Mass Effect 3 is outstanding aswell, Diablo 3 but i dont want to go too vast into this.

2012 was a great year, sorry ign.

Did you read the article, because it's not what you think?

Nerdmaster4107d ago

Considering that 99% of N4G users don't read the articles before commenting on them, it's not surprising.

I didn't....hence my comments below...lol I'm guessing it goes on to list all the good games.

I know Heavy Rain wasn't release in 2012, but that brought a lot of emotions to me. I heard some things about Spec Ops: The Line story, but haven't played it much. Might give it another go.

Really ?

* Bought 3DS in June

* Mario Kart 7

* Super Mario 3D Land

* Dragon Quest 9 / FFTA2

^ This is for me.....I realize they were released earlier.

* Mass Effect 1

* MLB 2k12

* Fifa 13

* Black Ops 2

* Bought a PSP a like 10 games

* refound my love for RPG's

* Played Pokemon Soul Silver...first Pokegame since Red.

* Minecraft...Minecraft....Minec raft ( xbox 360 )

* Awesomenauts

* Guardians of Middle Earth

Understandably 2013 is going to be Superior in almost every way.

2013's Gaming list for Console, handheld + PC looks epic TBH.

But yea 2012 was a great year for games for me personally.

I rediscovered hand helds...RPG's....got into minecraft....discovered my first PS product in the PSP...

Was an eventful year...I'm the kind of person still playing College Hoops 2k8 for the 200th time though so maybe it's just me who appreciates gaming in a different way than the rest of the industry.

That's an impressive list I suppose, but honestly 8 don't find any of those games appealing. Why? Because many are sequals/prequals/rehashes.

They are games most people have already played in some way or another in the past, except the publisher slapped a new name on an old game engine or tired old game idea's and tell us it's new. I had almost 200 games games and I've seen it all. 2012 was just more of the same.

Oh, and Awesomenauts was average at best, and nobody is ever playing when I go online.

Minecraft is probably the most original playing game on that list.

Spec Ops: The Line was super dark.

Incredible story.

SheenuTheLegend57d ago

all the games in the above list are bang on. this is the only reason we need backwards compatibility and physical presense of games for the upcoming future, no matter what.

Yi-Long57d ago

Honorable mention to the excellent Driveclub, one of the best racing games of all-time and one of my favourite games ever.

melons57d ago

yes! incredible rain effects; so good to drive along in rain with your Spotify playlist blaring

Skuletor57d ago

I really wanted a MotorStorm using the same engine, Driveclub is easily one of the best looking games on PS4 and I'm surprised they didn't even give it a PS4 Pro patch.

ravens5256d ago

Yes indeed. May just install it on my PS5. You know, physical copy and all.

monkey60256d ago

I adored Driveclub and the Bike expansion. I also loved Motorstorm. Evolution shutting down was a crime

Outrun Online Arcade, Sega Rally Online Arcade, After Burner Climax... all good stuff. I keep my 360 hooked up to play these as well as the TMNT games that were also delisted.

Skuletor57d ago

I have quite a few of these. Timed licenses suck.

Terry_B57d ago (Edited 57d ago )

wow...I have all of them except the Nintendo ones either in physical or digital version.

Also..Deadpool the Game is missing on that list.
