How To Add PayPal Funds On US Playstation Network

Gamesta.com reports that PayPal can now be used on the North American Playstation Network. More so, a step by step guide explains just how to add funds to the PSN wallet.

Genuine-User4107d ago

It's a shame that a person from Europe can't add funds through PayPal on his American account.

dboyman4107d ago

How about an American or Canadian adding funds to his UK or European account?

badz1494107d ago

That others outside US can't use their paypal with their US account just like we couldn't with foreign credit cards?

Genuine-User4107d ago

Well I tried and it didn't work.

badz1494107d ago

That sucks! I might give it a try myself but now my expectation is low :-(

hesido4107d ago (Edited 4107d ago )

Why couldn't we have a universal PSN? Why couldn't they make it like Steam? Steam does provide regional differences (Special versions for Germany, some games not available in some countries etc. etc.) but the whole thing is unified and universal. This segmentation does not help Sony. It does however boost the number of PSN users for showing to stockholders, but it probably reduces revenue per user and even the overall revenue, because it is made increasingly difficult for me to buy anything off North-America. (I have to ask friends who live there to buy PSN cards for me.)

talisker4106d ago

This also means I never buy new games on Steam because they're up to 50% more expensive than elsewhere. So there are pros and cons.

black9114106d ago

Can you add any amount? Even $1 or quarter.

Pathosverdes34106d ago

No, it will offer you a few options like $5, $25 etc and one that gets your balance up to a wallet total of $150.
Unfortunately it doesn't work for me yet. The payment partner must have difficulties, yesterday i got a plain error message, now i get one step further to a page where i am supposed to select a payment method but that is empty so I can't continue.

WaterMelon Games' Fans Launch Petition Calling For Paypal To Return Seized Money

Fans of struggling retro developer WaterMelon Games push for Paypal to release money allegedly seized following the launch of Paprium.

His customers should make a petition calling on him to give his kickstarter customers what they paid for.

Or are we going to gloss the fact that the reason the funds were froze in the first place was because customers kept sending paypal disputes about not getting what they paid for?

dead_pixels1150d ago

My thoughts exactly. Fonzie is conveniently not saying the reasoning PayPal gave for seizing those funds. However, anyone who has followed the development of the game and the developer's history should be well aware of their tendency not to deliver the items folks pay for.

dead_pixels1150d ago (Edited 1150d ago )

I do think it's worth clarifying that the game was never on Kickstarter. It was funded through Watermelon's Magical Game Factory using gems, an investor currency that allowed fans for purchase games and influence the way WM's titles were developed, ie adding RPG style features to Paprium, including blood, etc.

In 2017, WM stopped using the gems system and instead allowed players to pre-order the game outside of MGF's unconventional framework.

lodossrage1150d ago

Yeah I know, I say Kickstarter out of bad habit to be honest

ZwVw1150d ago (Edited 1150d ago )

Fonzie basically said, "Here. Paprium is finally done. Be happy you're even getting it. If you don't want to wait ages or pay triple (of what was the original price conceived) for the next game, then you'd better start opening those wallets now."

He practically tried extorting his customers with nothing to show.

PayPal closes account of Active Shooter publisher

Says its will not 'accept payments for activities that promote violence'.

Skull5212127d ago

I don’t support this game but this is only one step away from shutting down all shooters, long live freedom!

Cobra9512127d ago

I despise PayPal and their self-serving draconian policies. This action is typical of the methods they use to hold others' money hostage (i.e., in PayPal's pockets).

Xb1ps42127d ago (Edited 2127d ago )

I mean... why make a game like this though?! There has to be a “this is just fucking stupid” line and this is far beyond that.. it’s a fucking school, the dumb asses that made this game lack that much imagination? I get the whole freedom thing but holly shit don’t abuse it with dumb shit like this then get all mad when others excersise their rights..

If they want to keep selling this stupid game then no one is stopping them from selling it out the trunk of there car.. no one is censoring them they are simply not supporting there ignorance.

ninsigma2126d ago

@xb1
"There has to be a “this is just fucking stupid” line"
As soon as you draw a line, the line will (without a doubt) just grow and grow until suddenly, very minor things are now crossing it. That's why you just let the market decide.

WitcheRivia2127d ago

I'm surprised that people still use PayPal. I wonder if those same people also use Myspace.

InKnight7s2127d ago

Blame websites that still ask for paypal only. I used it once, felt odd, old and weird but I had to, because sites still don't have way to pay through Visa, prepaid Visa, MC etc.

2pacalypsenow2127d ago

I still use it when buying from newegg and EBay.

rainslacker2127d ago

On ebay, it's about the only thing that people use, and having a third party credit card account is rather costly for most sellers. If Ebay went with a different way to pay....like processed it's own payments(which is the reason they brought Paypal anyways), then Paypal would probably drop off the face of the earth.

Paypal and Ebay were recently forced to split into different companies, but I don't see Ebay changing anything. There really isn't a good alternative to Paypal....or at least it becomes annoying to have all your customers using a whole bunch of different services.

Paypal has it's flaws, and I think they were the biggest reason I had my identity stolen 15 years ago when they were worse than they are now, but they have plenty of benefits. My history with them made me more cautious about how I linked my accounts to them, and I had a completely separate account for getting funds out of it, and made sure my bank wouldn't allow any Paypal drafts from that account.

Neonridr2127d ago

really? I use paypal quite a bit still. Super convenient when you have to update your payment method at one place instead of at 50 different places :P

How the hell does a video game promote violence? It’s a god damn game. It might be a crappy game and made in poor taste, but it’s still a video game.

Smokehouse2127d ago

That’s even more pathetic than the game.

ninsigma2127d ago

Then shut down the accounts of every video game and movie publisher because they all push games with violance. This is so stupid.

Sony Unbans Users That Were Banned Erroneously After Massive Chargeback By Paypal

If you were banned recently by Sony from PSN, you might just get your account back again.

*Oh PayPal...

Fixed it for you so that it doesn't sound like you're trolling again.

gangsta_red2485d ago

Sure about that? Because with the info in the actual article and Sony not making any official statement it sure does seem that blame can be placed on Sony.

***[UPDATE 2] Going on from the case of the customer who phoned PayPal regarding the issue. His payment that was returned was sat in Pending until today, He has since confirmed that the funds were released by his bank to Paypal. This could back up the idea that the error is Sony's.

[UPDATE 1] A customer's phonecall to PayPal suggests the blame lies with Sony. The call stated 'This error is on Sonys end and is to do with them closing or somehow limited their GDP account, meaning that the funds didn't credit the accounts.' Another customer in contact with Sony says the company finds PayPal to be at fault.***

Unless there is an article that I missed it does seem strange that PayPal would have this problem with Sony and not any other gaming service.

darthv722485d ago (Edited 2485d ago )

I believe the nature of a 'charge-back' stems from one transferring agency cannot access an account to which the funds are supposed to be transferred to. PP receives the funds from the individuals and transfers it to Sony but in this case something was wrong with that account so the funds went back to PP (not so much the individuals just yet). Sony doesn't receive the $$ for transactions tendered and therefore bans the accounts in question.

At least that is what it sounded like happened. Once Sony gets their account in order, PP can release the funds and all will be happy again.

JackBNimble2485d ago

Hey gangsta
It's called life, deal with it. Every day in the real world shit happens that seems unfair, at least Sony is trying to fix the situation.

gangsta_red2484d ago

@Jack

Gee, thanks for the life changing advice. Not sure what it has to do with anything but I'll be sure to get that tatted on my back.

bustabass2484d ago (Edited 2484d ago )

Gangsta_red I tried to buy something on eBay the other day but couldn't because there was a problem with my PayPal account (I had to delete my card details and start again) The money I paid through PayPal for my ps plus is still pending a whole two weeks I'd payed for it, I'm guessing it's a PayPal problem to be honest with you, that's my honest opinion :)

@darth 72 it was fixed but nice troll

Silly gameAr2485d ago

You guys are really hunting for that negative Sony news to jump on, aren't you, even if they're not the ones at fault.

2485d ago
Kiwi662485d ago

So when the evidence hints at Sony you want to ignore that because you believe they never make any mistakes and so its just some big witch hunt, geez talk about being brand loyal

Silly gameAr2485d ago (Edited 2485d ago )

@Kiwi66

Not brand loyal, just aware. Trust me, when Sony F's up, I don't ignore that ish.

@Haurus
So, if we were to call Sony customer service what would they say? That the fault lies with Paypal? Why did this only affect some PSN users that use paypal, and not all? I use paypal to buy games from PSN from time to time, and I didn't have any problems. What's that about? If this was Sony's fault, wouldn't all accouts that use paypal be affected?

jaycptza2484d ago (Edited 2484d ago )

No it was caused by chargebacks from Pay Pal, that SONYs system blocked accounts due to non payment. I work in payment operations for a fintec company.

SO what are you saying they should unban them? :/ Just say what you really wanna say.... no matter how dumb it is.....

RommyReigns2484d ago (Edited 2484d ago )

Keeping an eye on PayPal to see if they offer a great 'we're sorry' deal over the next week, they usually have 'spend X amount, get £5/£10 PSN credit free' kind of deals available in the UK but there could be a great one incoming.

PayPal is such a scummy company. I wish there was an alternative to their type of service.

fenome2485d ago

I've never used them for anything, I just get PSN Cards or use prepaid cards for PSN.

gangsta_red2485d ago

Really? I have used PayPal before and never had a problem. What exactly have they done to be considered scummy... especially in this car where everything seems to have turned out all right?

Prince_TFK2485d ago (Edited 2485d ago )

Well anyone or anything that make Sony look bad on this site are scummy. According to most N4G-er.

Rimeskeem2485d ago

I've had problems with them and returns and so on including extra accounts made that I am positive I didn't make.

Kribwalker2484d ago

@kun
That's true. If you go to the metro review of crash bandicoot you'll see the first comment was "less then an 8? Now on my review blacklist site"
