Alan Wake: Why I Love This Game So Much & Feel It’s A Must-Play Title

Noble Press:
It has come to my attention that many gamers did not get the chance to to play Alan Wake. The game just sort of flew under the radar for most gamers, and I feel it’s because of the stiff competition the game faced around it’s launch window.
Among them were:
Modern Warfare 2: Stimulus Package – 4th of May
Lost Planet 2 – 18th of May
Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands – 18th of May
Red Dead Redemption – 18th of May
Super Mario Galaxy 2 – 23rd of May
Alan Wake was released on May 18 2010, against many well known established gaming companies. It was a new IP surrounded by highly-anticipated sequels. This made it very easy for gamers to overlook at the time. I myself was faced with the same dilemma, which was to walk into my local store and have to make the choice between Rockstar Games’ brand new title Red Dead Redemption, Nintendo’s Super Mario Galaxy....

I guess its kind of a retrospective, GameTrailers do them sometimes and some of them are amazing actually, like the star wars and zelda ones. Come to think of it most fo them are top quality, metal gear solid, final fantasy, they are probably the best thing on the site.

I <3 Alan Wake.

One of my favorite franchises ever, despite American Nightmare not being all that brilliant ;)

One of my favourite games of all time. I actually loved AM and would go so far as to say it is the best title I have downloaded off the XBLM. I beat it in one night (American Nightmare)and it felt more like a light retail game. Awesome stuff.

I also find it funny that the main complaint for this game was its repetitiveness and game-play, yet the game that released alongside this, Red Dead Redemption had worse game-play (man it was quite bad) and was arguably more repetitive. Not trying to diss RDR, I'm just a major fan of both, and having played both for many hours that is how I feel.

Get's repetitive sometimes, but sure amazing game.

I would say good game not great ...the story was good but the gameplay felt bulky and repetitive at times. Also was a little disappointed the story wasn't complete unless you bought extra dlc, but who is ever happy about paying for more dlc

The ending was disappointing but I don't technically find the story to be incomplete. The DLC only provides a window for who's the next enemy...which is now provides and expanded upon in American Nightmare.

The first dlc is free for those who bought the game new as well.

Kind of a goody story...

On a serious note, that is why I try activating gift cards asap. It's happened to me where the store didnt scan it right where the card was unusuable. Happened at Wally World.

I just bought two of the MonsterVerse Godzilla movies on 4K - both had digital copies expiring in 2023. Both were actually expired.

I'd be surprised but it's WB, of course they'd actually expire them

Knightofelemia3d ago

Usually most of those redemption card have an expiry date on them. If they expired all buyer did was buy recycled paper. And some of those codes are country locked to certain countries. I buy a card from the States I can't use it in Canada.

Dumb and silly story. She wasted her money for no reason.

Is it really that hard to go to Steam or GOG. She spent $240, when its currently 70% off on GOG, and only costs $4.49.

Gee, I wonder, should I spend $240 on eBay, or $4.49 on GOG? 🙄

Rynxie3d ago

Most likely she wanted to resell a few or most of them. However, it was a too good to be true situation.

So in short she paid $240.00 assuming usd for a bunch on unactivated game codes.

I still don't understand why I guess cause there's not a physical version and she wanted something for a collection or art project.

Rynxie3d ago

No, most likely to resell. However, she ended up getting screwed.

This is Alan Wake 1, it had physical copies.

A thermos is upending the Alan Wake community

Remedy has Alan Wake merch on sale, including a pretty blue thermos. Unfortunately, things haven’t gone according to plan, and many players who want a thermos find themselves without one, though it does appear that Remedy is attempting to fix things. Nevertheless, it has resulted in a lot of upset, illustrating just how much the thermos means to Alan Wake fans.
