I never had the chance to play the first and second one yet. I think I should play those first

tigertron4106d ago

Definitely play them first.

I had the chance but the games are so scary :S But I will man-up sometime :D

gillri4106d ago

I think what it is is that Dead Space is a mainstream horror franchise so you get casual shooter fans that play them and while they are scary at times

there are many other games out there quite a bit scarier

@gillri:

Ye I know. Tried playing Amnesia: Dark Descent. That did not go well. There is something horrible about walking down dark corridors and knowing that at any time something can jump out from the shadows and try to bite your face off. I giggle like a little girl when playing those games because I am so nervous haha :D

The ONLY Dead Space that was "scary" as you say, is Dead Space 1. 2 became too action-oriented shooter-ish and 3 just looks like a generic action shooter now.

They're both not that scary and how can they be with the fire power that's at your disposal. They are sci-action games with good atmosphere.

@evoexomike- its so cool to hate on iterative franchises! (sarcasm)

I've played through the first Dead Space at least 6 times on Xbox and PS3-I got all the achievements and trophies. Each time I played it, it was less scary.

Once you understand the underlying game mechanics, the game loses its "scary" factor. Dead Space 2 was scary the first couple of times but lost its edge sooner. That's how it goes with horror movies/games unfortunately- the first iteration introduces something never seen before but is never matched.

As a huge Dead Space fan I couldn't be more excited for DS3. The story changes if you decide to play it solo or coop. Demo was great :)

The first game was definitely my favorite, although Dead Space 2 is still quite good, and it was a very positive experience playing through it for the first time. The other 2 playthroughs were not as engaging, I was just trying to get the last few achievements and I knew where every scare was, which corners the enemies were behind, etc.
I've been worried that the third would be far too little horror and far too much military shooter-esque action, but after playing the singleplayer demo I think it still felt like Dead Space. I must admit though, I didn't like the Co-op as much. I definitely recommend playing the game solo your first time through if you're like me and you enjoyed the true feeling of hopelessness, powerlessness, and isolation the first game exuded, I think that if this installment has any amount of that feeling to emit it will be best experienced playing solo. I'll save co-op for after I've played through singleplayer at least once, maybe twice. When I'm bored and looking to unlock a few more achievements I'll try it out.

i couldn't find the demo in the marketplace :(

Sovereign594106d ago

It hasn't officially been released yet. I got a code from the Dead Space Facebook page, that's how I've already played it. I think they've been giving them out on Twitter as well.
The demo will be available for everyone on the xbox marketplace this coming Tuesday, the 22nd.

Why Dead Space 3 Will Be the Hardest to Remake

If EA and Motive Studio plan on remaking all the main Dead Space entries, they have to change a lot of what made Dead Space 3 so divisive.

Simple, do not bother with a Dead Space 3 remake. Rather have a new entry for Dead Space.

myfathersbastard407d ago

Yeah I agree. Make a dead space 3, but have an original story/setting. They’ve proven they can do the game justice, and I think they could evolve 2 in a good direction, keeping a similar tone. I’d love s Dead Space 2 and 3 though. The remake was fantastic. Top tier remake, up there with RE2.

jznrpg407d ago

Remaking 3 would need to be a reworked and somewhat changed remake as 3 was flawed in most peoples eyes and the worst entry.

Ninver407d ago

It's the worst in the series.

Dead Space 3, A Ten Year Reunion

WTMG's Kyle Nicol:

"Was Dead Space 3 really that bad?

Well, it’s a complicated question. Dead Space 3 is undeniably the weakest of the trilogy. It’s a game that deviates so far from the original formula, that it throws a lot of what made Dead Space special in the first place out of the window. Although, where it does make up for it is one of the best cooperative shooters on the market, even after all this time. Do I recommend playing this game ten years later? Hell yes. But make sure your expectations are in the right place. It has a lot of problems that bring it down."

They need to seriously continue this ip with a new entry. Even if it's just another movie I don't care I love everything about this game.
