A full list of Achievements for the upcoming Tomb Raider reboot has found its way onto the internet, and plenty of the tasks ask for dozens of hours spent in the game’s multiplayer modes.

Bunch of nonsense, shoving down the Multiplayer like that.

AznGaara4112d ago

I absolutely hate games that force online trophies/achievements. Thank god Uncharted 3 only had 2 and Mass Effect 3 had single player alternatives to their online trophies.

Trenta274112d ago

I imagined that being said in Dexter's voice. Well done.

unknownhero11234112d ago

look at all of those enemies killed achievements and only two optional tomb achievements. LO freaking L! I guess their story, which doesn't have any achievements, is too important for tombs to get in the way.

you know what you have to do dexter......

This sucks.
I am a completionest. It's how am wired. However, with the extensive Multiplayer Plat requirments in mind, I will be picking this title up later than expected. I don't mind grinding.. I just don't like being forced to do it in multiplayer.

15 of the 50 achievements/51 trophies are MP related. With the trophy/achievement to reach level 60 taking the longest. I have been a fan of the series, but with the introduction of MP, has me questioning if I really want to pick this up day one.

Lionheart3774112d ago

Think it really was the timing that made it all such an issue.

firelogic4112d ago

What does the addition of MP have to do with you playing and enjoying the SP for a series that you're supposedly a fan of?

Is it because you don't want to play MP to get a 1000 achievement points/platinum? Then simply don't try for it.

It's really puzzling to me why people would forego buying a game because it has an optional MP mode added to it.

Godchild10204112d ago (Edited 4112d ago )

I just said it has me questioning the notion to pick the game up on the first day of release. I can still be a fan and get it days or months after. I did it with Uncharted 2 and we all know how well received the MP was.

Trophies and achivement play no factor in me purchasing a game or enjoying it. If it did, I would never purchase a JRPG, WRPG or RPGs in general.

The fact that the MP has been announced just a few weeks ago, with a release 2 months away has me questioning the intentions of the developer and publisher. Why couldn't they pull an Naughty Dog and let us know almost 5 months in advance. Also it seems like the game was pushed back just to add the MP portion of the game.

GameSpawn4112d ago (Edited 4112d ago )

I'm not the type of person to let something like this stop me from getting a game that I'm interested in, but it really is kind of low to force people into multiplayer this way.

At least with Uncharted the only multiplay trophies preventing platinum are to play ONE coop game and ONE competitive. You don't even need to be on the winning side and all of the more specific online trophies are in an "expansion" that is not required for the "core" trophies list and platinum.

The only thing that really ticks me off about trophies and achievements is the ones that are WAY too specific in what you need to do (only made worse when it is also multiplayer). A perfect example is the multiplayer trophies for AC:Brotherhood - Role Model being the worst. The ONLY way you can even begin to get these is through boosting. Good luck just getting them on your own by chance.

After all this ranting, these things didn't stop me from getting games like AC:Brotherhood, but as a completionist it does bum me out that I'll never really complete these games' lists out, but I've come to terms with that and moved on to other games. I'm proud of what I have and not going to dwell anymore over what I don't.

Bimkoblerutso4112d ago

It's just one more sign that a game is being created expressly as a cash cow. Resources and time that could have gone into the singleplayer campaign are instead funneled into a tacked-on multiplayer mode that developers "herd" people into with achievements like these in some shallow attempt to squeeze a few more dollars out of consumers (presumably when the nickel-and-dime DLC starts rolling in, as is inevitable these days).

claterz4112d ago

I hope you don't need online multiplayer trophies to get the platinum like it was in Uncharted.

Godchild10204112d ago

These achievements indicate how the trophies will be and from the looks of it, you will need to obtain all the MP trophies as well as the SP trophies to get the Platinum.

claterz4112d ago

ahhh that kinda sucks, hopefully the MP is fun and I also hope it doesn't take too long to reach level 60 lol

paybackprahl4111d ago

I wouldn't be too sure. As a commenter below described, most of Uncharted 2 and 3's MP trophies were not required for the Platinum - they were labeled with a "+", which in Trophy terms considers them as DLC (optional) trophies.

Wintersun6164112d ago

What? All you had to do was play one Co-op game and one Deathmatch to get all the MP trophies required for Platinum on Uncharted 2 & 3. The rest of the MP trophies were not required for the plat.

The Best Tomb Raider Games Ranked

We've gone on many adventures with Lara Croft. With another reboot in the making, Wealth of Geeks felt it was a good time to go down the nostalgia rabbit hole and remember the best of those tomb-raiding thrills.

I do agree that Tomb Raider Angel of Darkness was the worse one 😂 I remember playing some of it and I took it back. That game was just awful in every way. I bought it used at gamestop and glad they had that 7 day return policy for used games 😂

Pyrofire9558d ago

Would it be worth saying why?

ZeekQuattro58d ago

Simple. He's been hating on the Tomb Raider reboots for years. I can't imagine seeing them at the top of a best TR game list let alone being on the list in general sitting well with him because of it.

-Foxtrot58d ago

Zeek

“Hating”

No no, just pointing out how TR mutated into a generic action adventure game losing the appeal of what it once was when it was more about puzzles and platforming over going Rambo, slaughtering waves of enemies

But hey, continue being a dick and speaking about me like I’m not going to see the comment.

MeatyUrologist57d ago

Foxtrot, I'm curious if you have played the most recent games. Sure the 2013 reboot was hugely focused on combat, but each follow up became less and less about combat to the point where outside of a few large scale story missions I don't even remember combat being a part of shadow of the tomb raider. Shadow was so puzzle focused it actually was a bit much for me and I love the TR puzzles.

I still feel like Rise was the best of the series and I was a huge fan of the originals. To me it struck the perfect balance of exploration, platforming, puzzles, and combat. Not saying your opinion is wrong I'm just curious what you think they should have done different. Games do need to evolve somewhat to stay relevant. Would you prefer small linear jumping platform levels like the original?

RavenWolfx58d ago

I would agree Rise for 1 and the reboot as 2. Shadow is a bit high, though.

Sonic188158d ago (Edited 58d ago )

I think Shadow wasn't even develop by crystal dynamics. I thought it was the worse in the new trilogy

Pyrofire9558d ago

That's right. Shadow was developed by Eidos Montreal who who went and made Marvels Guardians of the Galaxy next. (Great game)
Meanwhile after Rise of the Tomb Raider, Crystal Dynamics made Marvels Avengers. (bad game)

MeatyUrologist58d ago

Agrees. First two are correct but Shadow should be around 5-6.

terstomp58d ago

For me, Legend should be alot higher (along with the other two ). Shadow, I enjoyed it, but has too much has fluff, as modern games tend to do. Playing the remastered series, and apart from the controls, is very good.

jznrpg58d ago

I really enjoyed the first 2 games, Legend and the first of the reboots and the rest I didn’t get into so I never finished.

robtion58d ago

Completely subjective list. I really liked Underworld, I preferred Lara's design. That said I loved the horror/uncharted feel of the reboot. I think all the TR games have strengths and weaknesses. None are objectively better in every way.
