Star Wars 1313 Not Coming This Year After All

Earlier this morning, the online gaming community was abuzz with news that Star Wars 1313 has been listed for a release this year on the PS3 platform by PlayStation Germany, and it certainly lifted the spirits of many. Well, we hate to play the role of party pooper, but it is rather unfortunate that LucasArts has stepped in to claim that PlayStation Germany’s Facebook page gave out inaccurate information.

i suspect this game will come out early spring 2014. i will note even begin to hype myself for this title as a 2013 release. as a star wars nerd and a gamer, i will patiently wait until the more realistic 2014 release date.

KangarooSam4114d ago

I so want to play this. It looks surprisingly good so far.

aliengmr4114d ago

There is actually nothing known about it. Other than it being a heavily cinematic TPS. The characters aren't going to be the same. I wouldn't be surprised if the name was changed as well.

Bathyj4114d ago

Deceiving, is the darkside.

CaptainPunch4114d ago

Expecting this to be released on the PS4, PC, and 720 then. I hate waiting...

Monstar4114d ago

Willing to bet that the final product won't look like it's initial footage, bet they're struggling. We shall see.

KangarooSam4114d ago

Well you're just being a cynical Steve. I understand the CGI can make you feel a bit nervous (I'm kinda feeling the same way with Killzone: Mercenary) but it's not like the game can have bad graphics, it's the end of a generation, they'll know how to push the hardware. And even if it's released for next gen consoles it will look decent too.

20 Awesome Canceled Games You'll Never Get To Play

You can understand some games getting canceled, but these awesome looking games still baffle us to this very day.

"Tommy saving the planet from an army of aliens after they abducted him and his entire bar, with the game ending on the promise that Tommy would be back, but that promise was never fulfilled"

The thing is with the original Prey 2 that Tommy wasn't even the main character, they replaced him with some generic looking space bounty hunter. It was a refreshing change to see an awesome Native American character with ancestral like powers fight aliens yet they ditched him. It was only after an outcry they showed much later in a new preview that Tommy was in the game as an NPC.

I'd have prefered a real sequel with Tommy as the main character, literally picking right up from the originals ending.

As for Eight Days...Sony really needs to pick this up

If Amy Hennig was still at ND, I'd have loved to see her tackle it after what she did with Uncharted.

isarai47d ago (Edited 47d ago )

I thought that was awesome too, and honestly i wish people werent so damn critical about cultural variety in games. I feel like people try to ruin devs lives if even one detail is off about their culture in a game and so everyone is too scared to try anymore

isarai47d ago (Edited 47d ago )

One of the lead engine programmers for Prey 2 at Human Head was my programming instructor when i was taking game design. This game was in limbo at the time and we asked once and only once about this game, the misery in his eyes when he told us "this is the 1st and only time ill ask you to never ask me about that game" was something ill never forget😅 he used a couple assets through the curriculum for teaching purposes but nothing very tangible. Just a function here, a 3d prop there. Such a shame. Years later i saw him at a magic tournament, we caught up and he still thinks about that game and how it's "practically done" probably sitting on a drive somewhere

shinoff218346d ago (Edited 46d ago )

Practically done? Jeez that fking blows because that looked much more interesting then what bethsada made. Don't get me wrong I enjoyed the one bethsada made.

Lmno looked interesting.
I'd knock titanfall and fez off the list. Add something else. Scarface 2 man only if would've been awesome. Prey 2 should be higher to. Either way not a bad list. Out of 20 there's only 2 I'd hate on.

isarai46d ago

That gen got a lot of games canned right before the finish line. Cipher Complex, Battlefront 3, legacy of kain dead sun just to name a few

XiNatsuDragnel46d ago

Games that need to come out: Battlefront 3, 8 days, and timesplitter 4.

Skuletor45d ago

One that's not on the list is Killing Day, I remember seeing the trailer in 2005 and being impressed at the time. Being Ubisoft you know it would have been a AAAA game too, lol
2 Days to Vegas and The Getaway 3 are two other games that seemed promising but never came out.

Silent Hills cancellation was a travesty.

mrbearbear277d ago

I still wonder to this day if it was a reboot, or sequel.

cammers1995277d ago

Lol. The tags made it so I didn't have to visit your website.

goldwyncq277d ago

Kojima wouldn't have started his own studio if Silent Hills didn't get cancelled so even if it stung at first, I'm fine with it.

chobit_A5HL3Y277d ago

i remember being so excited for patriots for years, only to have them release that siege trash. i hate how multiplayer games, pvp in particular, have ruined so many potentially good games.

Wish they did more then 5. There's a ton more out there.

TheSenorCheese414d ago

It's obviously something that can be revisited. But, yup, agree.

darthv72414d ago

Im surprised 1313 has not been revisited after the success of Fallen Order.

shinoff2183414d ago

Hope I will cause it sounded amazing.

Knightofelemia414d ago

I was always curious about Scalebound until it was scrapped.

TheSenorCheese414d ago

One of the titles we missed covering. But our guess? Uneasiness between Platinum and Microsoft.

Godmars290414d ago

You mean MS wanting a MP component for an obvious SP game.

porkChop414d ago (Edited 414d ago )

Platinum said they actually deserve a lot of the blame. Realistically both parties made mistakes. Platinum bit off more than they could chew at the time, and MS didn't quite understand how to just sit back and let the devs work their magic.

Hopefully the two can come together and try again because the game sounded really good.

jznrpg414d ago (Edited 414d ago )

If it was a single player game I think it would have had a better chance of coming out . Ms wanted it to be online co-op . Dragon games aren’t easy to make and making it co-op is even harder and to me that was the major factor of why it failed

gangsta_red413d ago (Edited 413d ago )

Not sure where people are getting their info that MS 'wanted' it to be co-op. From it's first teaser it was shown to have some type of co-op feature. It was probably pitched to MS as a multiplayer co-op game and Kamiya has gone on record saying he bit off a bit more than he could chew. You can definitely see elements on what they wanted to do with Scalebound in Bayonetta 3.

https://www.gematsu.com/202...

Godmars290413d ago

@gangsta_red:
Largely because the game existed before MS wanted it. Another is that more if not all Xbox titles have been online coop. Lastly, in in-game continuity, it made no sense to have customized versions of the same character popping up for boss fights. At least, as a hyped feature of the game, I've never heard explanation for it.

Regardless of what a dev, who wants to do business with MS so likely isn't going to badmouth them, says. Of course they're going to share blame in what a client wanted, even if that one thing was the exact thing making the project "more than he could chew".

gangsta_red413d ago (Edited 413d ago )

@godmars

"Largely because the game existed before MS wanted it."

Where are you getting this info from, because the story I've read is that Kamiya had the idea for a while and always wanted to make it but ultimately went with Bayonetta. He then pitched the idea to MS and then started to develop it. There may have been ideas for features from in other games that may have found there way to Scalbound, but Scalebound was not created beforehand.

"Another is that more if not all Xbox titles have been online coop."

That may be true for most MS games but that still doesn't mean it was mandated by MS for Platinum to do. And even if it was, Platinum agreed to do it, there wasn't a surprise by MS that they needed to add multiplayer halfway through development. That is not how third party development works, both parties agree through signed contracts beforehand what's expected with milestone deliverables.

"..it made no sense to have customized versions of the same character popping up for boss fights."

Not sure what you're not understanding, but there were customized versions of different players coming to help for boss fight. Maybe there was a mechanic to have characters equip different gear, the same type of features that is pretty standard found in multiple games of its type.

"Of course they're going to share blame in what a client wanted, even if that one thing was the exact thing making the project "more than he could chew"."

Kamiyah has never held back his opinions, he's been extremely outspoken in the past. Enough years has gone by for him to have told even a fraction of what you think might have happened and still not him or anyone from Platinum, from recent employees to any ex employee has said anything of what you are claiming.
