DmC: The PC Version Difference

Maybe you already picked up one of the console versions of Ninja Theory's DmC and are currently hacking apart demons in pursuit SSS rankings. On the other hand, maybe you're holding off for now because you're still trying to get through your 2012 backlog or you're still poor after the holidays. If you're considering picking up DmC sometime later and also happen to have a gaming PC around, here are DmC's PC-specific features.

Im gonna give this ago on PC But from this i think this is a port and havent put much effort into the PC.

Yeh I get the ps3 version from gamefly today but would rather play it on my couch pc just because it looks a little better. (not massive amounts though)

My only problem is the extra week waiting...

PC is the clear winner, better graphics+frame rate

Autodidactdystopia4115d ago

I NEVER say this but damn that game looks "TIGHT AS FUCK"!

Godchild10204116d ago

To me it looks like the game is better on the PC than it is on consoles. This is the first time they worked on a PC right? The combat seem more fluent and from the images on IGN, it looks to be the better of the 3.

The console version is not bad by any means though.

Judging from early benchmarks this isn't going push your PC by any means, but the higher res and textures should give a cleaner experience. The extra frames are the biggest plus.

PC version looks like a functional, though slightly lazy (those shadows in the screenshot in the car wouldn't be intended on being that dark, just a minor graphics difference), decent port. They bothered to use the proper xInput API (noted by the fact you don't have to restart by switching between controls) which means they are capable of using google, which is unlike the quality of most ports. Stick in a controller, and it's the console version but cheaper, at a higher resolution and with 1 or 2 settings able to go a little higher in some of the shaders. Good. I won't be buying at full price though (Capcom just get more profit for making the developer do more work but not enough for it to show artistic spirit. No thanks)

edit:
I will also assume that a proper mouse sensitivity isn't allowed as the article just said that there is a slider and didn't go on to say if it is reasonable with a 4000/6000dpi mouse or whatever and is probably using a 600dpi ball mouse and doesn't care/notice.

Pretty damn sure the artists don't work at those low resolutions in the game though so they could have set up a script to build the resources in high res for the PC release but obviously no-one could be bothered as it might take an afternoon. (despite the artists having spent hundreds of thousands of hours on the assets with probably 4096x4096 textures as standard). I'm pretty sure they will be using Capcom's internal tools,so it's all there to just be built in higher res (most textures and some models/environments' polygons), in fact any proper game (as in not indie/mobile/arcade) or AAA title or game using an industry standard engine is like this.

PC-360-PS3 actually, as far as framerates concerned anyway which is the most important thing with this kind of game, it being smooth that is.

Ranking the Devil May Cry Series

VGChartz's Mark Nielsen: "Upon finally finishing Devil May Cry 5 recently - after it spent several years on my “I’ll play that soon” list - I considered giving it a fittingly-named Late Look article. However, considering that this was indeed the final piece I was missing in the DMC puzzle, I decided to instead take this opportunity to take a look back at the entirety of this genre-defining series and rank the entries. What also made this a particularly tempting notion was that while most high-profile series have developed fairly evenly over time, with a few bumps on the road, the history of Devil May Cry has, at least in my eyes, been an absolute roller coaster, with everything from total disasters to action game gold."

First to last for me...3,4,5,1,2.

VersusDMC4d ago

Me leaving it out should be telling of my thoughts on it. Better than 2 as a DMC game.

Still a good game though.

What a weird name, it's essentially devil may cry, devil may cry lol

Best to good for me: 3, reboot, 1, 5

2 and 4 are trash, didnt like any of them.
5 has very good gameplay variety but i hated the foes.. it is just insects the whole time. Reboot has the best foes for me

Friendlygamer4d ago

3,1,4,5 to me, never played 2. 5 gameplay is amazing but level design was really disappointing to me, just a bunch of plain arenas, the story felt like a worse written rehash of the 3rd and the charater models looked weird ( specially the ladies ). Another problem with 5 was that there was not enough content for 3 charaters so I could never really familiarize with any of them

2.
Dmc.
4.
5.
1.
3.

God DMC2 was an awful game.
And in case this isn't obvious it goes worst to best

Yui_Suzumiya4d ago

1 and DmC. The rest are unimportant.

DarXyde4d ago

Order changes depending on your focus. I tend to focus on gameplay/fun factor, so...

5, 3, 1, 4, 2.

I really didn't like 4 but commend Dante's weapon diversity. The retreading of old ground was pretty unacceptable to me.

But even then... Still more enjoyable than 2 for me

SeTTriP4d ago

This right here is my order as I thought DMC 5 was amazing and obviously 3 comes after 4 was great and 1 for the nastilgic value it holds 2 was so terrible that my local GameStop gave full refunds to people who returned it.
