What’s Your Most Memorable PS2 Game?

We wanted to focus on the PlayStation 2 now that it is no longer being produced. Instead of asking the PSLS staff what our favorite game was, we’re going to go in a different direction and are asking: ‘What’s Your Most Memorable PS2 Game?.’

Looking back there were so many great games that generation. I wonder if in 10 years, we look back at the PS2 as we do now the NES?

I am already looking back with fondness. Dragon Quest VIII being one of my favorite experiences on that system. And of course, on the NES it was Dragon Warrior... so that stands to reason.

So many good games on the PS2! my most memorable games would have to be Final Fantasy X, both the Dark Cloud games, Metal Gear Solid 2, and the Jak and Daxter games.

It would probably have to be some kind of tie between Kingdom Hearts, Final Fantasy X, and Metal Gear Solid 3. Although there were just so many amazing games on PS2. It's hard to even pick the top three.

All the games listed by Snookies12 and Irishguy95 are tops on my list. One game/series that's high on my list but not really critically acclaimed the way those games are is Star Wars Battlefront 1 and 2... I miss those games. Also, I'll add SSX, Dragon Quest VIII, God of War 1 and 2, SOCOM, Gran Turismo... there's just too many to pick one.

Kingdom hearts II

The original Kingdom Hearts is what made me fall in love with games when I was around 10 years old. It had an excellent story, compelling characters and incredible bosses . It made me want to try out Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest after playing it. Ever since then, I have been a Square Enix fan. No game since then has been able to match the precipice of what Kingdom Hearts brought to me as a gamer.

I think Kingdom Hearts has to be one of the most influential games ever. In years to come I forsee the new generation of developers and designers talking about KH as an influence. I know so many people that played that game and years later still replay it. Without KH I know me and a lot of other people wouldn't be the same.

War of the Monsters, Dynasty Warriors 5, Nightfire, and the SSX series were probably my favorite multiplayer games.

But then there's Jak and Daxter, Ratchet and Clank, and so many more that filled my time with great solo experiences.

The PS2 was so great, favorite console last gen.

too much great memories for just one game...but I'd pick Final Fantasy X....that was the very first game I played on PS2 and it's also my most played game on PS2. The story/setting was breathtaking and the characters and music were so awesome.
