I do repeat my concerns. And most of the reviews have everyone saying "suck it haterz lolololololol" And "Get over the hair" ever the "journalists" are doing the same thing.

Yes, I post and state my concerns, it is a decent game, but subpar for DMC which didn't need to reboot.

I do not consider myself a whiner (who would I guess lol) but more of a fan who just gets told by reviewers and such to get over the hair, when we have given out concerns in depth about the gameplay being not as deep. And the following day, we get told "Nope, get over the hair"

And everyone did the same thing to ME3's ending, RE6 STILL has that happen, and DA2. They for months got cussed out, the games got trashed by it's fanbase. But the DMC fans (And I'll admit there are some non constructive ones, but thats the same for any fanbase.) have been given the middle finger every time we say something.

Now we get to sit back and watch as DMC slowly turns into something that does not even resemble the franchise, and would have made for a much better new I.P.

Out of all games that get hated on by the franchises fans we actually have solid legit complaints for this game and have done so since we started to see more footage. It's not like were pulling it out of thin air.

Is going from 60 to 30 a valid complaint? Of course it is but if the game is still fun it's still fun. You're making it sound unplayable and broken. You have other valid complaints too but at the end of the day you're still missing one key ingredient, you don't own the intellectual property. You are merely a potential customer. That is where your contract ends, you no longer have a say in the final product because it is now here. So what's happening now is the more it gets positive reviews the less ammo you have. You would have loved it to get poor reviews so you can bask in your glory and say 'see, told you so'. Instead most people buy games for the enjoyment, not reliving the past and thinking they should have all the input because they were previous customers.

Things change all the time, generations grow up and new gamers come into the mix. So they reboot things like James Bond and give it a darker edge. Or they make movies based on old classics like The Bad News Bears and put a different spin on it hoping to attract new watchers. The old timers think what's the point and that the new one is crap. Sometimes it's hard to think outside of the box but even reviewers get recycled and the younger generation comes in with a new perspective.

I don't think you're giving the new game a chance because you're still stuck in that box.

That's not true. When the game first came out the framerate was between 45 to 60, however through patches the games performance has been improved. GT5 does run at 60fps now. It never ran at below 30fps like you claim. I've had the game since launch day.

And personally I don't think that 30fps makes a game unplayable. However if the franchise was built with a 60fps standard and then changes to 30fps, it WILL change the entire feel of the game and its responsiveness. It has a negative impact.

The author insults gamers as a whole and those with legitimate complaints against DmC specifically, consistently bashes the Devil May Cry franchise, and comes quite close to mirroring what Ninja Theory said about how DmC will be Shakespearean (yeah, because big business vs. anonymous is so Elizabethan). In short, she doesn't address any of the legitimate concerns and this entire article is a big "suck it fanboys" style article.

Im no big DMC fan, but I've played them all. I've played the demo, and watched the ending, plus other leaked footage, and got the story from a friend on Gfaqs. All in all, I think DmC should have been a new IP. The characters dont resemble, act, or interact the way they did in the old DMC. There backstorys come from a different place as well. The art style is different. The ENTIRE lore of DMC is different now. It seems to me NT is banking on the name to entice sales, but when you tell the fans to F off, thats pretty stupid. Putting all that in to account, if ppl cant see the legitimacy in the complaints, they're blind.

Factually, NT separating from the original fanbase WILL hurt them. Look at the sales of Enslaved and DMC4. DMC was a niche franchise to begin with. DMC3 sold the most with like 3mil. DMC4 was multiplat and sold less. DMC wasnt ever a big seller. DmC has an uphill battle to fight. Sadly, the game isnt the reason I wouldnt buy DmC, but NT's whole immaturity about it. Ppl doubted MGRR, at least Platinum stayed classy.

Except the game is just as deep as ever every ones major other major concern is the fps being at a steady 30 or combos being easier to pull off. 30 fps I can see why some would care I'm personally fine with it. But the easier combos shouldn't be getting slammed its not like they've streamlined it so much that all u have to do is pick up and play . The point of the reboot is change. Its surprising to see that all these people are surprised that a reboot of a franchise is not following the exact same formula the franchise has been using.

Look at the Tomb Raider reboot. You don't see Lara double jumping everywhere and killing wolves with her bare hands. Both games have started over and went in a different direction in order to revitalize the franchise. So far, DmC has been critically acclaimed so NT seemed to have done a good job of creating their version of Devil May Cry

What, 4 million? Where did you get that figure from? According to the mostly accurate Vgchartz it hasn't even sold 3 million across the 360 + PS3 + PC. It was a huge commercial failure compared to its predecessor DMC3 which sold around 4 million including the special edition and that's why it was decided to be rebooted. You think the new DMC can do much worse than DMC4 because some 'fans' of the series are trolling it on the internet? Nope.

Anyway why bring sales up? The only thing that should matter to gamers is whether the game is of great quality or not, DmC has received a lot of acclaim and so you 'DMC' fans should at least give it a chance.

The problem with DMC is that its a good game but with a bad character design. From what i heard and played myself the game is actually a lot of fun but what i and many other people dislike is New Dante, he comes across as someone who tries to hard to be cool and his dialog reflects that. Personally i like the new look of Dante but i just can't relate to his character he's like DMC meets Jersey Shore.

This was written months ago and the author as specific as he was didn't seem to mention wether or not he played the demo. Instead he said he watched gameplay and trailers. Quite a bit of the info had his subjective opinion attached to it while and more than a few times he would state his opinion as it were fact. One example relatively early on was where he stated that all of the dialogue up until that point was said in a serious tone and nothing was tounge in cheek or sarcastic which even with just the examples he gave wasn't true

No, the game doesn't accomplish what was set out to be done. The music is contrived and a terrible choice overall, the level layouts are boring and uninspired, the combat is weaker than any previous iteration of the series AND the mechanics are weak and shaky.

The only thing NT has managed to accomplish with this game is the dismantling of a series that need not have been dismantled. I don't blame NT solely for this, since Capcom came to them in the first place. But both are equally stupid in this decision and direction choice. Bad choices and bad ideas should be reprimanded by the fans and community, which I can only hope will be done.

It looks and sounds like a good game to me, at the very least. I have no idea why people are so against change in general.

I couldn't care less about the hair color. In fact, after the uninspiring DMC4, I feel like I'm gonna OD on white hair. So the color change is rather welcome. Same goes for the hairstyle - granted, I wasn't too thrilled when it looked like Rihanna's hair, but it looks much better now.

The only things I'm concerned about is whether they're going with a complete DMC-universe change(origin, allies, villains, powers,etc.) or not, and if Dante's character is still the entertaining Dante of old or if he's now a "stick up his a**" serious guy.

The first half of your comment is pretty much the same as everyone else's: fans don't mind the revised look THAT much. Sure, we didn't see anything wrong with the original and would have preferred it, but changing Dante himself isn't really the problem.

It's everything else. 60FPS versus 30FPS matters in a game like this. Fair enough if you're gonna reboot the franchise, but that doesn't usually come with a COMPLETE re-imagining of the entire universe. No matter who draws the comics or directs the movies, Batman is STILL Bruce Wayne, who became a masked vigilante after witnessing the murder of his parents. He doesn't have super powers. He uses non-lethal force, and so on.

People aren't against change, per se. Rather, they're against EVERYTHING that made them like the franchise changing.

And let's face it, people: it's NOT a DMC. Solid game? Sure. But NOTHING that makes a DMC is there.

I never quite understood the arguments for this whole Devil May Cry clusterfudge ordeal that's been happening since they unveiled the game.

Dante isn't an in-depth character nor are the people around him. They're action games in which you play a guy in a long coat with a sword and guns that kills hordes of demons. By the end of God of War 3 Kratos was now a hateful, rage filled killing machine with no depth and who complained? No one because they knew what the game was, so why not with DmC?

Also DmC needed to be changed. 4 was disappointing. The series track record was 2 good games, one poor and one 'ok'. And the two good were great because of their action and style, not in depth story and character arcs. We're hardly playing the game version of There Will Be Blood are we?

I know I'll get some arguments back saying the story was great, the characters are believable or whatever but I'd have to disagree. I played the DMC games solely to kick ass, rack up high scores and attempt the Dante Must Die modes. I never played because Dante was a such a fascinating character because he isn't - he's a one dimensional, one liner-spewing character designed to appeal to people that just want to wield a big sword and kill demons.

So yes DMC fans, I think you are completely over reacting. If Hideo kojima came out and said "I'm going to make Snake a skinny pale ginger kid" then yes, I'd expect outrage. But DMC? Dante? A different look which doesn't matter because you're still the same one dimensional character that kills things with swords and guns?

Why not, I say. I played the demo and thought it was pretty fun, didn't see the big deal.

You clearly massively misunderstand Kratos and your comparison to the rebooted Dante is without merit.

With Kratos there's a story arch from the very beginning, he's starts of as just a captain of the Spartan army and after being tricked into murdering his wife and daughter and made to have their ashes stuck on his being, forced to kill his mother, losing his brother again after finally freeing him, being manipulated for 10 years and being betrayed by the God and the Titans you can see his hatred grow more and more throughout the series, God of War III is obviously the peak of the rage and it makes sense to anyone who's played the other games that now we know everything Kratos has been through it was time he enacts revenge on everyone who's wronged him.

Kratos has a lot of depth we learn through each of the games, towards the end of God of War III we see Kratos care for Pandora in an attempt to make up for failing his daughter and ease that guilt, in his psyche we see envisioned all the quilt that plagues his mind and how with the help of Pandora he finds the power to forgive himself of his past actions, finally in the end he sacrificed himself and gave the power of hope back to mankind so that they could rebuild and one day thrive without the aid of corrupt, manipulating and tyrannical Gods.

How can you compare that with Dante in any of his games? Kratos is one of the best characters in gaming and Dante was always just a shallow white haired flamboyant guy who you controlled to 'kick ass', the new DmC at least tried to make him a better character.

I just skipped most of your post because I know the whole story of the God of War games. I've played them many times.

God of War 3 felt odd to me. Don't get me wrong, I played the crap out of it and got my platinum for it and over those many play throughs, it just felt strange story wise. I can't put my finger on it but things just felt out of place to me.

But the hack 'n slash as a whole, I rarely play for the story. However, I do remember waiting on God of War 3 with excitement because I did want to see it pick up where 2 left off but overall by the end, I wasn't emotionally invested as I was by the end of God of War all those years ago. Maybe its a sign of getting older, I dunno. Point is, Hack 'n slash to me is just that - you kill stuff wildly and very rarely do I find a story that blows my balls off.

Devil may cry did not need a reboot.
It's an action hack and slash series. Same as ninja gaiden, god of war, bayonetta.
These types of games don't really need reboots as they're enjoyable already.

A better example would be a game like resident evil. Now that is series in desperate need of a reboot.

Capcom saw that the series' popularity and critical reception was in decline thus deemed a reboot necessary. Although I don't see why they couldn't have just made DMC5 and made it great rather than risk angering their fans with a reboot, also I understand that by rebooting the series it gives a new mass of games an entry point to the series so I can see why they did it.

The new DmC has received high praise so at least past fans have something to hopefully enjoy once they stop being bitter and buy it whilst new gamers have a perfect opportunity to experience what is a good or great hack 'n slash game.

gamer or fan boys to be precise should judge a game with integrity.. Honesty... Rating a good game poor just because things changes or hair color got black and all is not fair...

Resident evil 6 was average but not very very bad... same goes to cod games recently. and as for the new DMC it was really great, quite different from previous games but a great game. and for those who are saying that Ninja Theory should have released this game with a different name then cammon, same angry fan boys would have said that it is a rip off of the Devil may cry series and all.

Appreciate it for what it is.. don't judge it for what it isnt...

Your seriously going to justify death threats and other hazings are how any community should conduct themselves when in a disagreement over anything? Wheather or not what you disagree with isn't in question here. It's the horrific methods in which people go about expressing thier grievences with any game be it DMC or ME3 or whatever. Its rediculous to act that way over a game. No one would accept these actions in any other situation and it shouldnt be an exception in the faceless hide behind a computer screen and bully people world we have here either.
