DmC Review "Sinfully Gratifying" | Rely On Horror

Rely On Horror: Well, DmC: Devil May Cry is here, and let me tell you, combat should be the least of your concerns. Why? Because along with combat, Ninja Theory knocks it out of the fucking park with this game. Had DmC released in 2012, it would have easily been my GOTY. Allow me to tell you why.

Love them or hate, Ninja Theory seem to have delivered with this game. Maybe fans of the old games aren't happy with its direction but from what I've read, it seems to be a decent game.

Another great review for this game. Its great that we're getting a good DMC release after what DMC4 turned out to be

Can't wait to try this out

The same guys who gave Resident Evil 6 a 9/10. Clearly they are being payed by Capcom.

rocky0475864118d ago

Would you have said that they were paid off if they had given it a bad score? It seems like people only use this excuse when the review doesn't favor their opinion. Capcom didn't pay off anyone for their opinions, there's FAR too many reviews that are coming from various sources including respectable journalists and independent journalists that are saying this is a good to great even EXCELLENT game. Get over it.

Treian4118d ago (Edited 4118d ago )

Have you even been to the website? They give everything Capcom-related a very high score. They are being payed by Capcom. There is nothing to get over. Capcom insists on ruining their franchises. RE- turned into a bad action game. DMC- bad action game. I sense a pattern here.

It must be fun to live in the world that you do.

@blahblah346 This guy is a blogger dude. There's NO WAY IN HELL that they are paying this guy anything. He's not a respected journalist and his name isn't anything in the industry so why the hell would Capcom waste their money on someone that doesn't even put a blip on their radar no matter what they write about them? "Get over it" is correct here.

Furthermore, I was watching gameplay vids of DMC1 and I don't see why people are so mad at DmC. The gameplay in the original was far from the frenetic gameplay that was in 3 and 4. 1 and 2 had the slowest gameplay and DmC is faster than both 1 and 2 in terms of combat. Yet people want to claim that because the game is too slow that's the reason they don't like it? Well they must hate DMC1 then too by that standard.

The story in DMC1 was VERY serious. It had almost NO kind of joking tonation to it whatsoever. There were a few jokes here and there but NOTHING like how DMC3 was in terms of the story just being so far out and over the top. So again, how is it that the story being a bit more serious in this reboot a bad thing when the beloved DMC1 had a very serious story itself? And very bad voice acting at that, at least the writing and voice acting in DmC a lot more tolerable.

But I guess I'm a paid-by-Capcom guy now too since I liked RE6 and I like this new DmC as well, right?

Ranking the Devil May Cry Series

VGChartz's Mark Nielsen: "Upon finally finishing Devil May Cry 5 recently - after it spent several years on my “I’ll play that soon” list - I considered giving it a fittingly-named Late Look article. However, considering that this was indeed the final piece I was missing in the DMC puzzle, I decided to instead take this opportunity to take a look back at the entirety of this genre-defining series and rank the entries. What also made this a particularly tempting notion was that while most high-profile series have developed fairly evenly over time, with a few bumps on the road, the history of Devil May Cry has, at least in my eyes, been an absolute roller coaster, with everything from total disasters to action game gold."

First to last for me...3,4,5,1,2.

VersusDMC5d ago

Me leaving it out should be telling of my thoughts on it. Better than 2 as a DMC game.

Still a good game though.

Exvalos4d ago

What a weird name, it's essentially devil may cry, devil may cry lol

Best to good for me: 3, reboot, 1, 5

2 and 4 are trash, didnt like any of them.
5 has very good gameplay variety but i hated the foes.. it is just insects the whole time. Reboot has the best foes for me

Friendlygamer5d ago

3,1,4,5 to me, never played 2. 5 gameplay is amazing but level design was really disappointing to me, just a bunch of plain arenas, the story felt like a worse written rehash of the 3rd and the charater models looked weird ( specially the ladies ). Another problem with 5 was that there was not enough content for 3 charaters so I could never really familiarize with any of them

2.
Dmc.
4.
5.
1.
3.

God DMC2 was an awful game.
And in case this isn't obvious it goes worst to best

Yui_Suzumiya5d ago

1 and DmC. The rest are unimportant.

DarXyde5d ago

Order changes depending on your focus. I tend to focus on gameplay/fun factor, so...

5, 3, 1, 4, 2.

I really didn't like 4 but commend Dante's weapon diversity. The retreading of old ground was pretty unacceptable to me.

But even then... Still more enjoyable than 2 for me

SeTTriP5d ago

This right here is my order as I thought DMC 5 was amazing and obviously 3 comes after 4 was great and 1 for the nastilgic value it holds 2 was so terrible that my local GameStop gave full refunds to people who returned it.

Huzaifah from eXputer: "Devil May Cry 5, the latest iteration in the iconic DMC franchise by Capcom, still holds its own as a fantastic hack-and-slash in 2024."
