PlayStation Plus Update: Become War in Darksiders, Free for Members

PS Plus members rang in the New Year with NBA JAM: On Fire Edition and Mega Man 9 and 10 for free. This week, we’re bringing you a mix of action and exploration with the original Darksiders. I have been waiting for that game to hit the U.S. store for a few months.. Finally

I had slept on Darksiders it was cool but I kind of was still on my GOW kick..

but I planned to get that game and try to play it once again, here's my chance.

ah cool, already have the disc version, but nice for those who haven't played it yet. Very cool game with a nice mix of hack n slash, puzzles, and RPG elements. Also one of my favorite characters, Samael, what a badass!

Dang i missed it in Europe and Dead Space 2 by a day (ouch)

Oh well at least i got Vanquish (love it) and Bioshock 2 (loved the first one) to screw around with.

This sucks pretty hard since I just picked up the game for my PS3 this past Xmas for a used price at Gamestop.

Anyways it is a really good game and I held off on part two just so I could finish this.

Well now you can trade it back in and just use the digital copy i guess. Install/delete as you require. That's what i do in that situation anyway.

If you still have the receipt, you can return it and get something else. I don't think you can get your money back because its longer then the seven days, but any return you see is better than nothing at all.

You could even put it towards the second one used or new, but I think you will be better off getting it new, because most Gamestops still have the limited edition in stock.

I wish I had it already. I've always wanted to get it because of that sweet holographic box art (and because I enjoyed the demo.) Physical copies > digital any day of the week. You'll own that game for the rest of your life as long as you never sell it.

I'm glad I'll finally get to play Darksiders, but I'm sad that now I won't have to add it to my collection with that awesome box art.

Definitely picking up Stardrone Extreme for $2. The demo was pretty cool. Good use of the rear touchpad.

The fact that they gave us something different (And retail) is better than nothing at all or getting a sports game (That is digital only). I have the game as well, but I'm not complaining. This gives me a chance to play the game again, before running through the second one.

You can't always expect triple A titles that came out the same year or the year before. Or new digital titles or we would get games like ChronoVolt all the time.

It's your choice to renew and it's your money to do as you please. I currently satisfied with the service, even if most of the games I don't like or have/had already.

I would glady trade half of my features for a free game very month. In fact, leave online play, Netflix, and give me a game a month (is it week for +?)and I'll be good.

@Zhipp I also wished M$ offered better deals but they don't. Did you see their 12 day countdown to new years deals? The $20 sale price of some of them were stuff that ps+ got for free months ago. M$ makes me feel like I waste my money with them. I haven't played Darksiders so I look forward to it.

The problem with LIVE is that it's a "one size fits all" approach. They give you a bunch of features you don't want with features you do want and slap on a premium price. The greatest thing they could do with the next gen is let people choose certain features for a price.

With Xbox having a multi-media focus currently (and I would assume beyond), having a gaming package (online play+ free games/deals), a media package (last fm, youtube, Zune HD, misc) and a total package seems like a good idea (with the option of adding features from the other for a price).

Both Nintendo and Sony both appear to have stepped up their game when it comes to online, especially for free services. Hopefully MS will take a leap into more diverse options with the next Xbox that cater to the type of gamer that owns it

I really need to get my ducks in a row and renew my membership. Hey I have a question for any of you PS Plus vets...which technically I am one for 2 years but anyway. If there is a lapse in membership do you lose your games? Or do you still get them back whenever you re-up the membership? A response is greatly appreciated :D.

all your previous downloads will still be stored in the download's section when you re-up the membership.

If your membership lapses don't worry. Obviously you won't have access to your games while lapsed, but when you renew your membership you will still have access to everything you had before it lapsed.

Great game! If you love this I highly suggest you pick up Darksiders II. I found it MUCH better than the original!

I've heard of Darksiders before, but I was knee deep in GT5 at that time, so yeah... I get to enjoy another great game.

I've had + since January 2010 and I'm going to renew. What a feeling it is to have a jukebox of games, videos & music at the ready.
