DmC Devil May Cry Review | TechDigest

TechDigest writes:

"Distill your fondest memories of the Devil May Cry series down to their most important parts, and what are you left with? We'd bet that, rather than it being an overwhelming fondness for the overwrought plot, your favourite parts of picking up the Devil May Cry games was their speedy, fluid combat. By wiping the slate clean but retaining and building upon that core combat goodness, new series developers Ninja Theory with their reboot DmC Devil May Cry have delivered a slick, streamlined brawler that returns the franchise to its former glory."

I don't get how people can say the combat is good... I mean, did they change it a lot from the demo? It was way too easy to get SSS in the demo, and you could just keep using the same move over and over. There was no skill involved... *sigh* Guess I'm just one of the few who appreciates needing skill in a game.

NovusTerminus4116d ago (Edited 4116d ago )

Allot of reviewers didn't like DMC much in the past, so making it easy and mindless the reviewers are now able to play the game... I guess

*shrugs*

It's no different then what is happening Dark Souls 2, except we have more to go on with DmC aside from a few comments.

No one cares about the DMC fanbase, Dante was an icon in gaming. No different then someone changing Cloud, Link, Samus, Gordon Freeman, Master Chief, or Kratos. But no one seems to care about that. Saddly.

"Easy and mindless" those words get thrown around much too often. Especially by those that perceive themselves as fans because they've played the "originals" which automatically provides them with a false sense of proficiency in a game that has always been about reconciling style and combat rather than difficulty and combat.

Simple fact is the game is getting acclaim across the board, it holds 85 aggregate score based on 28 reviews from all kinds of publications on metacritic. Suck it up lads, and enjoy a good game when you see one, otherwise, just don't play it.

@iNMyFiN4LH0uR - It IS easy though, that's my problem with it. Go back and play DMC3, and try to tell me that this game takes skill in its combat. I'm not saying it needs to be just like that, but isn't it obvious how much it got toned down? There's just no sense of accomplishment when you can repeatedly do the same thing over and over, yet still get the best ranks.

"Simple fact is the game is getting acclaim across the board, it holds 85 aggregate score based on 28 reviews from all kinds of publications on metacritic."

We should now shut up and never ever voice our negative opinions in any way possible because DmC got good scores across the board. Oh and because some guy on N4G said so.

"Suck it up lads, and enjoy a good game when you see one..."

Says, the lowest common denominator for whom this abortion is marketed towards.

VINNIEPAZ4116d ago (Edited 4116d ago )

Snookies12 the game on normal for me was pretty easy, but that's why the game has like 6 different difficulty levels. I'm now going back playing on hard with all my power up from normal and the game is a pretty good challenge (enemy types are different on hard). And I wish everyone would shut up and just play the damn game THEN judge. The combat is solid and very fun. The only game that comes to mind with better combat is Bayonetta, but hell that game is damn near perfect in that regard. Just try it then judge, if you like this type of action games I cant see how it would disappoint.

EDIT @cochise_313

God some of you are ignorant. Im a BIG DMC fan and I LOVE the game. Stop acting like what YOU think is FACT.

@blacktric

I can sense your discouragement due to the fact that this game is getting great reviews. It seems we have another great installment in the dmc universe.... get over it.

mainstream loves simplified games, just look at any game that sells millions.

TheEnigma3134116d ago

That's the reason this game will bomb; it's too easy. Hardcore DMC fans aren't touching this game with a ten foot pole.

MadMax4116d ago

Youve gotta be kidding me! You are the biggest DMC troll there is on here! You are no fan and an embarrassment to real gamers. Get a life kid and stop trolling this game so much. I told you i will be watching you. You frikin troll!!!

Ranking the Devil May Cry Series

VGChartz's Mark Nielsen: "Upon finally finishing Devil May Cry 5 recently - after it spent several years on my “I’ll play that soon” list - I considered giving it a fittingly-named Late Look article. However, considering that this was indeed the final piece I was missing in the DMC puzzle, I decided to instead take this opportunity to take a look back at the entirety of this genre-defining series and rank the entries. What also made this a particularly tempting notion was that while most high-profile series have developed fairly evenly over time, with a few bumps on the road, the history of Devil May Cry has, at least in my eyes, been an absolute roller coaster, with everything from total disasters to action game gold."

First to last for me...3,4,5,1,2.

VersusDMC3d ago

Me leaving it out should be telling of my thoughts on it. Better than 2 as a DMC game.

Still a good game though.

Exvalos2d ago

What a weird name, it's essentially devil may cry, devil may cry lol

Cacabunga2d ago

Best to good for me: 3, reboot, 1, 5

2 and 4 are trash, didnt like any of them.
5 has very good gameplay variety but i hated the foes.. it is just insects the whole time. Reboot has the best foes for me

Friendlygamer3d ago

3,1,4,5 to me, never played 2. 5 gameplay is amazing but level design was really disappointing to me, just a bunch of plain arenas, the story felt like a worse written rehash of the 3rd and the charater models looked weird ( specially the ladies ). Another problem with 5 was that there was not enough content for 3 charaters so I could never really familiarize with any of them

monkey6023d ago (Edited 3d ago )

2.
Dmc.
4.
5.
1.
3.

God DMC2 was an awful game.
And in case this isn't obvious it goes worst to best

Yui_Suzumiya3d ago

1 and DmC. The rest are unimportant.

DarXyde3d ago

Order changes depending on your focus. I tend to focus on gameplay/fun factor, so...

5, 3, 1, 4, 2.

I really didn't like 4 but commend Dante's weapon diversity. The retreading of old ground was pretty unacceptable to me.

But even then... Still more enjoyable than 2 for me

SeTTriP2d ago

This right here is my order as I thought DMC 5 was amazing and obviously 3 comes after 4 was great and 1 for the nastilgic value it holds 2 was so terrible that my local GameStop gave full refunds to people who returned it.
