Has This Generation of Gamers Gone Soft?

OmniGamer writes "Let’s face it, from the 1990′s – Present there has been a VERY noticeable difficulty curve decrease – with most games now including “Super Easy Fun Mode”. Nowadays, very hard games such as Demon/Dark Souls only appeal to the minority of gamers…"

the fact that they had to add an easy mode in dark souls for those PC clods, and the fact that they are planning on making the next souls game more "accessible" pretty much points to yes.

Agreed games are going towards casuals specially in recent years with the whole focus on going for the wider audience.

However there still are some gems out there, anyone looking for complex and challenging game play could try Dota 2.

There are about 100 Different chracters to play in Dota 2, each of them with their own special abilities. Customizing them with different items is a further challenge, all depends on what sort of team combo you face. Hence anyone looking for challenging gameplay should def check out Dota 2.

Actually there is no easy mode on pc...its actually much harder, and they said they want to make the story accessible, the story in dark souls is non-existent if you don't read the lore

Gaming in general is far easier now than its ever been. Take a look at the documentaries like 'Chasing Ghosts' and 'The King of Kong' which document how hardcore gaming used to be. Compare that to the likes of having your hand held in the majority of games these days.

Nice example would be games that do the 'Oh you've died 3 times, would you like to lower the difficulty level?'...*facepalm*

I've gone soft compared to when I was younger. Or, I suppose, I have less time to dedicate to trying to beat something that's difficult. Not proud of it, but there it is.

If it is too hard it is no fun. It is that simple. Always put in an easy and extreme hard mode.

Us gamers are far from soft! matter fact, we are apparently so hardcore and mentally unstable that we shoot up places full of innocent bye-standards cause we thought it was just all a video game....

But really... I will be honest, I'm not as good in video games as I use to be in my younger days where I kicked ass in the Nes-ps2 era.
