I wish New Super Mario Bros Wii would get a discount. It's been out for 3 years and it hasn't dropped in price at all.

Breadcrab4114d ago

Yeah, Nintendo has this habit of not making the price points for exclusives budge even an inch.

I remember Super Smash Bros. Melee, LoZ: Wind Waker and Mario Kart Double Dash still being full price at most retailers a few years after each one came out.

I grabbed Sleeping Dogs from GMG during the Winter Sale. I am -crazy- impressed by it. I've almost finished the game... and even though it's obviously rushed, it's still so fun.

Finally: a GTA-style game with really fun combat, and a great protagonist!

I honestly cannot conceive of Rockstar making a better GTA game than Sleeping Dogs.

guitarded774114d ago

I got it too for Black Friday... probably less than half way done, but it is a good game (just have too many games to play). It reminds me of a cross between GTA and Yakuza, and that's a pretty damn cool combination.

There's some okay deals at Best Buy, but most of those sale prices are everyday prices at Amazon.

Canary4114d ago

That reminds me, I still have to finish Yakuza 3 and Kenzan. And start 4.

But, yeah, it's a great mash-up of Yakuza and GTA. Love the combat. I've heard it compared to the Batman games, but honestly I find the combat a lot more engaging than in those. Shame you can't use the environment as much as in Yakuza, or tools.

I'm -really- hoping there's a sequel. Sleeping Dogs had great driving mechanics, great narrative, great visuals, great melee mechanics, and even that parkour-style stuff like in Aassassin's Creed, albeit to a limited degree. Given all the production difficulties the game faced, that these elements are all so well implemented speaks volumes of the developer's skill.

If they have the time and money to do a sequel fully, on their own terms... wow. I just can't even imagine how great it could be. Sleeping Dogs easily has the most potential of any new IP I've played this generation.

better late than never am i right? lol

gninja924113d ago

in the case of borderlands 2 its better to wait till september when the GOTY version comes out then to get it now and wen u buy the dlc packs you spent more than what the GOTY version is worth.

Rivitur4113d ago

@ gninja

You could buy it now and find someone with the dlc disk to install later or get it off the internet as they are not console locked. Thats what i did with Fallout 3, New Vegas, and Borderlands DLC.

TheLastGuardian4114d ago

I got Borderlands 2 on black friday for $25. I'll wait for Sleeping Dogs to hit $20. Am a cheap bastard.

TheEnigma3134113d ago

I bought sleeping dogs off of Steam for 4.50

Ranking the Devil May Cry Series

VGChartz's Mark Nielsen: "Upon finally finishing Devil May Cry 5 recently - after it spent several years on my “I’ll play that soon” list - I considered giving it a fittingly-named Late Look article. However, considering that this was indeed the final piece I was missing in the DMC puzzle, I decided to instead take this opportunity to take a look back at the entirety of this genre-defining series and rank the entries. What also made this a particularly tempting notion was that while most high-profile series have developed fairly evenly over time, with a few bumps on the road, the history of Devil May Cry has, at least in my eyes, been an absolute roller coaster, with everything from total disasters to action game gold."

First to last for me...3,4,5,1,2.

VersusDMC4h ago

Me leaving it out should be telling of my thoughts on it. Better than 2 as a DMC game.

Still a good game though.

Friendlygamer5h ago

3,1,4,5 to me, never played 2. 5 gameplay is amazing but level design was really disappointing to me, just a bunch of plain arenas, the story felt like a worse written rehash of the 3rd and the charater models looked weird ( specially the ladies ). Another problem with 5 was that there was not enough content for 3 charaters so I could never really familiarize with any of them

2.
Dmc.
4.
5.
1.
3.

God DMC2 was an awful game.
And in case this isn't obvious it goes worst to best

Yui_Suzumiya2h ago

1 and DmC. The rest are unimportant.

DarXyde2h ago

Order changes depending on your focus. I tend to focus on gameplay/fun factor, so...

5, 3, 1, 4, 2.

I really didn't like 4 but commend Dante's weapon diversity. The retreading of old ground was pretty unacceptable to me.

But even then... Still more enjoyable than 2 for me

It's A Crime That There's No Sleeping Dogs 2 Yet

Huzaifah from eXputer: "Sleeping Dogs from the early 2010s is one of the best open-world games out there but in dire need of a resurgence."

LG_Fox_Brazil4d ago

I agree, I consider the first one a cult classic already

isarai4d ago

You say "yet" as if it's even possible anymore. United Front Games is gone, along with anyone that made this game what it is

CrimsonWing693d ago

That’s what happens when games sell poorly. And I’ve seen people wonder why people cry when a game sells badly… this is your answer.

solideagle3d ago

Majority of the time it's true but if a company/publisher is big (in terms of money), they can take a hit or 2. e.g. I am not worried about Rebirth sales as Square will make Remake 3 anyway but if FF 17 doesn't sell then Square might need to look for alternative. <-- my humble opinion

Abnor_Mal3d ago

Doesn’t Microsoft own the IP now since they acquired Activision?

DaReapa3d ago

No. Square Enix owns the IP.

Abnor_Mal3d ago

Oh okay, Activision owned True Crime, but when that didn’t sell as intended it was canceled. Six months later Square Enix bought the rights and changed the title to Sleeping Dogs.*

Sleeping Dogs was a sleeper hit back then. It was fantastic. It actually still is. Would love a sequel to this, or at least a revive of True Crime series.

5 Years Later, Devil May Cry 5 Still Quenches My Hack-And-Slash Thirst Like No Other

Huzaifah from eXputer: "Devil May Cry 5, the latest iteration in the iconic DMC franchise by Capcom, still holds its own as a fantastic hack-and-slash in 2024."
