Pokemon X and Y pitfalls and payoffs

So when Pokemon X and Y was announced this past week, the initial shock boosted the spirits of some and annoyed others. The squabbles of genwunners and Pokémon noobs are likely to continue as always, but will a 3D Pokémon capture all of the expectations Pokemon fans have had since the initial release of Red and Blue?

Pokemon X & Y has sparked my interest in the series again. The change could have came earlier though.

I would love to get a Pokemon game that has an alternate ending and player choice, that changes how the story progresses. Maybe it just me.

I am glad they are finally updating the style of the game. This makes me curious to see a Pokemon game on Wii U.

Pokemon X and Y will be Huge. Probably the biggest game that will come to 3ds , still to early to say that , But a 3D pokemon game is like the Most Desired Handheld game in existence. Although Smash Bros is announced for 3DS.

MEsoJD4114d ago

It's not a big enough leap in my opinion, but I'm happy that it sparked your interest.

Custom trainers would be icing on the cake for me.

I can't stand alternate endings. It's lazy. They couldn't figure out a true ending so they use all their trash ideas as " other endings"...= fake replay value.

If I have to play a game more than once to get the Full experience, The Dev's did something wrong.

I'm getting a 3DS because of this game. And a good Pokemon game will probably be my reason of getting the Wii U as well. >___>

DivineHand1254114d ago

is anyone else disappointed by the graphics of this game? It looks like black and white 2.5. This looks borderline DS and I'm sure the 3DS is more powerful that this.

Waddy1014114d ago

It probably is a bit more powerful but not by a lot, you have to remember that this is their first attempt at a 3D pokemon game so the graphics won't be as good as they can be.

EddieNX 4114d ago

First of all the game isn't finished , Second of all maybe they're deliberately trying to make it look like old pokemon Games but 3D. Second of all you can never judge 3DS graphics off blown up Youtube footage , You have to see it on thr 3DS screen where it makes much more sense.

By the time the game is finished I'm sure it will look beautifull on 3DS. But Like most RPG's the graphics have to take a hit in order to create a massive 3D world. Then te Graphics come to life when you engage in a battle.

Like the tales games for example. The overworld isn't even Sized right, a Village is like a tiny House, when you walk into that House you enter a massive village.

PopRocks3594114d ago

The maps are pretty large. And besides, the graphics are bright and colorful. The battle animations will probably look a little nicer as well.

kirky124114d ago

Gamefreak has already confirmed the graphics in the trailer are not final.

They also confirmed the game will push the 3DS to its maximum. You have to remember this game is still well in the development stage. By release it should be the highest graphical game on the 3DS and if not I'l be disappointed, but will still buy it for the storyline of course.

Waddy1014114d ago

I quite like the new starters, i don't think they look stupid.

AusRogo4114d ago

The last Pokemon game I played was Ruby. After that I couldn't stand half the new pokemon so I didn't bother with the series anymore. .. but this, I love the style. Will check it out when it releases.

Making Pokémon 3D Was A Mistake

Pokémon’s shift to 3D was a big mistake, as the series’ roots in 2D design make it difficult to transfer important game mechanics into a 3D overworld.

why do other games pull off 3D monster collecting JRPG games just fine? Look at Jade Cocoon and Shin Megami Tensei for examples.

Answer should be obvious.

No other videogame franchise is as merchandise driven as Pokémon

Nintendo 3DS Games We Still Love Playing Even Today

BLG writes: "While it didn’t sell as well as the Nintendo DS, the Nintendo 3DS was nonetheless a wonderful system. And, while this may be a hot take, it’s easily my favorite handheld. Even more than a decade removed from launch, the system’s library has so many titles that feel as fresh today as they did back at release. While it was hard to narrow down, these 30 Nintendo 3DS games are emblematic of the system’s success."

When Will The Pokemon Company Introduce a New Typing?

The Pokemon Company has a solid thing going right now. Well, it’s been going on for a while, actually, but it has been a while since a new typing has been introduced to the popular monster-taming series. The latest one, Fairy type, was introduced back in Generation VI (Pokemon X & Y), so it does seem like it is time to bring in a new one. Check out Jason Capp's article for more.
