Every month it seems, there’s articles and rumors popping up of Game X becoming a feature film. A studio wants to take a game, most of which take dozens of hours to complete, and water down the story and content to make 2 hour Hollywood feature film.
Halo, Metroid, Uncharted, BioShock, God of War, Assassin’s Creed, etc. are just a few of the most well known gaming franchises that Hollywood has shown interest turning into films, all of which have been canned, are still up in the air or are urban myths that are mentioned in interviews.
This is simply the wrong way to go. Why butcher these franchises into films that have to meet a time requirement of 2, maybe 3 hours? Not only will you piss off the fans of the series, it’s just a crappy way to represent what could easily (and more suitably) translate into not a film, but a television series.
How do composers make the iconic music tracks from games that we love? And just what makes them so memorable?
A former 343 developer has revealed that mountains of Halo pitches failed to be approved, including a return to ODSTs and a push for more intimate, dark themes.
Halo-Pop like Gears Pop. Halo bowling. Halo Cooking Mama. There’s a reason why you won’t hear about them
With its smooth jazz and iconic New Mombasa streets, we need Xbox's next Halo game to return to the remarkable world of Halo 3: ODST.
That is a good point, they would most certainly make a better TV series in most cases than a movie. Provided they had a good budget... A lot of games are very "visually" appealing, and that means you need money to make that come to life on screen. Assuming the budget is right though, it could very well turn out that games could translate extremely well into a TV series.
true, heck ive always said that sly would make a great cartoon, or the prince of perisa could have an awesome series in which each season deals with a different prince in a different setting.
The only problem that I can think of is budget.
They don't cram multiple book into one movie so why should they do that to games?
