Pokemon X and Y: The Legendary Pokemon are based on Norse Mythology

Are the Legendary Pokemon in Pokemon X and Y based on Norse Mythology? We discuss the reasoning why we believe this to be the case, and why this gives even more evidence toward the existence of Pokemon Z.

This makes too much sense! You just blew my mind!

I called it as well.

The chromosome thing was a bit too obvious, and it might make it in the game, with X being female, Y being male, and Z being unknown.

But Norse Mythology, the 3D plane made sense.

As well as this being the first true game where generation Z (2000 - 2020) is old enough to grasp (13). Gen Y (1980 - 2000) and Gen X (1960 - 1980).

A lot of theories, but these seem right.

Now lets see some new pokes and some stats, so we can start team prepping.

Nice attention to detail and excellent knowledge of mythology. Much better read than the "x and y first than z because its then 3ds" or the " x and y are chromosomes, Pokemon sex hurr hurr". This was clearly well thought out good job.

This fits so perfectly that I'd be sort of disappointed if it wasn't true.

It's cool that the X and Y refer not only to coordinates but to the actual spatial orientation of Xerneas and Yveltal. i.e. one can move vertically along a y axis, and the other exclusively horizontally, along an x axis. Obviously their respective shapes are of an x and a y too.

The fact remains though that there are DNA strands in the logo. So maybe the game just invokes every meaning of "X and Y". Maybe they connect all of the above stuff and throw the genetic gender definition in there too somehow.

Haha, this Pokemon game could be seriously conceptual! I like it.

I wonder what the Z pokemon is called? Zidhoggr?

Haha, imagine if all this stuff is right! Nintendo must be furious.

EDIT: Just saw the comment above me, and the whole x,y,z 3ds thing also makes textbook sense. Damn. This game is effing clever! (If all of this applies)

OMG. Get this: Obviously the whole chromosome reading kind of falters when you introduce a "Z chromosome", but there is such thing as a so called "ZW sex-determination system" which features the Z and W chromosomes.

Get this: The system determines the sex of, among other animals, REPTILES, including Komodo DRAGONS. NIDHOGGR.

Also, might there then also be a Pokemon W?? The w axis refers to hyperspace or the fourth spatial dimension, i.e. a hypercube or tesseract. This could said to be the realm of the Norns in Norse, female beings who rule the destiny of gods and men. It's kind of hard to connect the chromosomal reading of W to Norns though... Still, awesome!

I like his read. The Z version going to be the special version without questions.

Making Pokémon 3D Was A Mistake

Pokémon’s shift to 3D was a big mistake, as the series’ roots in 2D design make it difficult to transfer important game mechanics into a 3D overworld.

why do other games pull off 3D monster collecting JRPG games just fine? Look at Jade Cocoon and Shin Megami Tensei for examples.

Answer should be obvious.

No other videogame franchise is as merchandise driven as Pokémon

Nintendo 3DS Games We Still Love Playing Even Today

BLG writes: "While it didn’t sell as well as the Nintendo DS, the Nintendo 3DS was nonetheless a wonderful system. And, while this may be a hot take, it’s easily my favorite handheld. Even more than a decade removed from launch, the system’s library has so many titles that feel as fresh today as they did back at release. While it was hard to narrow down, these 30 Nintendo 3DS games are emblematic of the system’s success."

When Will The Pokemon Company Introduce a New Typing?

The Pokemon Company has a solid thing going right now. Well, it’s been going on for a while, actually, but it has been a while since a new typing has been introduced to the popular monster-taming series. The latest one, Fairy type, was introduced back in Generation VI (Pokemon X & Y), so it does seem like it is time to bring in a new one. Check out Jason Capp's article for more.
