GameZone's Matt Liebl writes, "Let me preface this by saying I thoroughly enjoyed The Walking Dead. Heck, I even voted for it as GameZone's Game of the Year. However, I can't help but feel somewhat slighted by the promise that my decisions in The Walking Dead influence the story, creating a "tailored" experience."

Before the announcement that a heavily narrative focussed Walking Dead video game was announced in 2012, Telltale games was a development studio that not particularly well known. Despite putting out other similar properties with Back to the Future: The Game and Jurassic Park: The Game, the products were largely met with a very mixed and ultimately tepid response from the public. The rampant acclaim and runaway success reached with The Walking Dead launched the developer into one of the most anticipated and favourable studios out there with one revolutionary product.
I think the walking dead story telling is amazing. I really love the games and think that they bring the respect of gaming story telling up in the world of entertainment in general :)
I felt that by the decisions I made, my experience was tailored. I even felt guilt that stuck with me the entire game
No, see, Mass Effect 3 mislead players because the decisions we made had no effect on the narrative, no greater consequences, and that was what they advertised.
The Walking Dead does not advertise that. "Tailored" means exactly what you'd expect from the verb. The overall shape of the garmet--the cut, the pattern, the style--remain the same, it's just "fitted" to player.
This is why basic reading-comprehension skills are among the most important for a(ny) gamer to cultivate.
If there's anything misleading to it, it'd be those little messages (He will remember that!) that pop up after certain dialogs that indicate there might be far-reaching consequences.
Similar to the mass effect trilogy, it doesnt matter. Everyone puts so much emphasis on the ending. I guess this is a mkre effective argument for ME because its over and telltale is makkng WD2, but isnt it jn the journey and not the ending? For me, its all about the experience while i am playing. No matter how many decisions u make, even if u get a different ending, many will get it. Its about having choices and making decisions that affect your journey.
Not as much as Instinct will fool players into buying the game thinking they are getting a story, when in actuality its just a shooter set in the realm.
I feel like they misled me to buying it on disk. its so laggy and unspectacular the game freezes for every major decision -_- I am 2 steps from pirating it for the pc.
