Please Remake Pokemon First Gen

Being a fan of Pokemon it really upsets me that the announcement made this week by Satoru Iwata (President of Nintendo) was not for a remake of the original Pokemon games. Pokemon Blue, Red, and Yellow were a big part of my childhood, and were the most memorable Pokemon games of our time. Instead of hearing the rumored remake of these games, we got a new look into an extension of the Pokemon world…Pokemon X and Pokemon Y. Sure it’s cool that we’re seeing the creativity of Pokemon become more, but I think it’s time for a remake of the classic games that made Pokemon into what it is today.

yea I want one, a full 3D adventure on the Wii U. I don't like the new Pokemon's after gen 2, they just seem to run out tof ideas and started mashing random sharp object together.

I think Nintendo could really do good with the classics if they started again. Nothing compares to the original 3 starters. Would love for them to exand on some story to, like Mew and Mew Two and Ditto story. There's plenty of content from the original gen that they could span on with games

Look, there is no hope of getting anything on a home console. Why would nintendo move one of their main handheld franchises onto their console?

It's been said about the Vita too, they NEED exclusive franchises to make them worthwhile. Like Gravity Rush. Pokemon will not get a perfect version on the WiiU. At best it'll get a Colosseum version again since that wouldn't compete with the handheld RPG's

Your right they could obviously make up a ton of new content if they remade it for the Wii U

They would add the story of Pokemon Red/Blue but add more stuff after you defeat the Elite Four and then add a ton more side missions. They could even add onto the Kanto map with new locations.

I wouldn't mind if they would reward you with Mew for example after you do so much in the game or if you manage to do a challenge of capturing all the legendaries.

Hell maybe they would reward you with something if you fill the PC slots with all 150 pokemon.

They should remake it though as Pokemon Yellow since we've already had Fire/Blue remakes...FireRed/LeafGreen

Athough with it being a Wii U game they could merge with Pokemon Crystal to make it even bigger. You do go back to the Kanto region in Pokemon Gold/Silver so merging the two games together would be an obvious choice.

I would like to see more Pokemon TV series reference though...Jessie and James would have to be in it :D

But they're not a 3DS remake. It was literally a GBA upgrade...that's not what the article discusses.

FireRed and LeafGreen were upgrades? I don't think so. They were remakes in the same way HeartGold and SoulSilver were.

Maybe they'll remake Red and Blue AGAIN some time in the distant future, but I think they should focus on RedRuby and BlueSapphire (Possible names) for now.

Ok, get this, this guy rants about Nintendo/Gamefreaks running out of ideas just because of the way they named the new games but then he actually asks for a 1st gen remake which would be even more redundant, let alone the fact that THESE GAMES WERE ALREADY REMADE! What a joke... Just let it go, man, that's excessive nostalgia and there's no use denying it...

Oh and what the heck does he mean by "Okay, cool for bringing in new starter Pokemon but the ones they brought in just seem really childish"..... What? Since when have Pokemon not looked childish?

I was just thinking about this earlier. I think it would be great if Nintendo were able to reboot the franchise again, not your usual reboot, but a reboot where we just go back to the beginning. Remaking Red/Blue/Green/Yellow again with all the classic Pokémon, giving us X and Y style gameplay and more storylines etc, and even re-launching the original anime. The first season wipes the floor with all the other seasons.

I thought Fire red and Leaf green were remakes of Red and Blue? So you want them to remake a remake with 3D graphics?! What purpose will that serve?

The 3rd generation was probably the biggest evolution Pokemon has seen until X and Y.

It's still basically "Modern" pokemon.

Ppl need to stop having nostalgia boners. Some ppl act like first Gen was the only good gen of Pokemon. IMO the designs of gen 1-4 were all awesome gen 3 being my personal favorite. Gen 5 was the first time I started thinking "these designs are kinda dumb". But I got over it within like a few hours of playing B/W and, still very much enjoyed the game.

This wouldn't end the way the author thinks it will. He'd play the "new" Red and Green, figure out how antiquated the mechanics are, and then regret suggesting it. A majority of games do not hold up into the era. All of the mechanics advances that happen between your nostalgia moment and modern games inevitably ruin the older games.
