That person on Twitter came off as super entitled.

Welshy4123d ago (Edited 4123d ago )

Here goes the ignorant misunderstanding, or at very least misuse, of "entitled".

I initially had Skyrim for PS3 but luckily have a good PC so switched to that in the wake of the lag and DLC issues.

I think a PS3 only owner who bought the same product, at the same price as PC and Xbox 360, i would be be (and was) majorly hacked off.

Surely you should warn people of these issues and let them know that their may be issues in the pipeline regarding DLC as the base game itself struggled.

If a publisher saying "hey *certain platform* guys, remember you bought that game from us the same as the other platforms and thought you were getting the same thing? turns out your version lags when you play too much and you won't be getting DLC..." is EVER deemed acceptable and one branch of gamers are supposed to accept that, then said publisher can GTFO and expect no further purchases from me.

There is this thing called Quality Assurance, sold as advertised and downright being fair to people who buy your product instead of taking their cash THEN telling them you have issues. And if Bethesda did means test it and NOT find these massive, game breaking for many, issues during Q&A? Then quite frankly they are providing a sub-par service and don't seserve a cent from those gamers affected.

You just abused the trust and lost the faith of 70+ million user base Bethesda.

While I agree with most of what you have said, I have also become familiar enough with Bethesda's engine to know that it will NEVER be free of flaws. Their engine relies heavily on scripts that interact and effect each other and if you do something slightly out of an order that they had planned for you can break the game, sometimes to the point of being completely unfix-able (PC versions aside -- the dev console saves you with PC).

To add insult to injury, it doesn't help that in Skyrim EVERYTHING is remembered by the game -- every item dropped, every arrow stuck in a wall, and so on. In previous games (Elder Scrolls and Fallout) if you left something in the wrong spot for too long it went up with a puff of smoke (not literally), gone, nothing, see - ya - good bye. Hell, I've had times with Fallout 3 and New Vegas that I've dropped and item right in front of me and it was gone before it hit the ground.

All this being said, no matter what you buy a Bethesda game on (PS3, XBOX, PC), take it with a grain (or a pound) of salt in that it will run perfectly without any problems (especially past 40 hours into the game). At least with PC you can correct any issues with the developer console.

DBergmark4122d ago

Treat the person with a bit of respect. I don't care that I look like a complete asshole in saying that about a representative of a developer who may not have delivered on a product that you were anxiously waiting for. Did you purchase the expansion packs already and nothing for it? Nope. If anything you should be asking for for a fix to the original title as there are still major flaws to the PS3 version (and the Xbox 360 version has some issues too but not as game breaking as the PS3 version).

Pete Hines respectfully gave Kyle Collier multiple answers and Kyle just blows up saying that Bethesdha continuing to work on the expansion packs were bullshit. Also, I have no idea where you got the '70+ million user base' number as the last public report for sales put the game at 10 million sales as of summer 2012.

When you purchase a product and you get what was advertised for despite how it may perform, the manufactures don't owe the consumer anything if they don't see it worth their while. I'm sure you could argue that on the back of the box it says downloadable content but in legal terms that could just mean a patch.

I read through the article again to perceive how the writer curated the story and I'd say he did get good job of panning the direction back to the fact of the matter that Bethesda is working on patches & all DLC to come to the console.

Welshy4122d ago

Is your comment referring to the gamer or the Bethesda employee on Twitter?

Because either you are pulling a U turn based on the disagrees or I have misunderstood you that you were actually referring to the Bethesda employee, in the latter case I apologise.

I was writing in response of you calling the PS3 owner on Twitter entitled.

League_of_Draven4123d ago

They should just cancel all DLC for every platform and start working on a new engine (that's actually functional) and make a new Elder Scrolls game. Skyrim was the worst Elder Scrolls game ever made (especially when it comes to the lore).

aquamala4123d ago

Speak for yourself, I'll buy every skyrim dlc

Reverent4123d ago

I agree with him. Skyrim is nothing compared to Oblivion, which was nothing compared to Morrowind.

Skyrim is definitely the worst (not saying it's bad, just compared to previous games) in the ES series.

MmaFan-Qc4123d ago (Edited 4123d ago )

at this point, most of the ps3 owner of the game just wont give a flying f about it.

thats what you get for doing a really shitty port and a really bad support for the ps3 version.

Anon19744123d ago (Edited 4123d ago )

Again, speak for yourself. I received Skyrim for my PS3 Christmas 2011 and easily put in over a hundred hours of some of the best gaming I've experienced this gen. This DLC will be a day one purchase for me when it's available, without question. Why wouldn't you want to extend a game that won multiple game of the year awards and was easily one of the best rpg's this gen had to offer? Because a handful of people had issues which were patched within weeks? My experience with Skyrim has been flawless.

I'll never get why people have jumped all over Bethesda for this. Borderlands 2 (fantastic game, by the way) was plagued with problems on the 360 from corrupted save games to hacking issues to frequent game crashes making the game unplayable for some. The Gearbox forums were flooded with pissed 360 owners and after multiple patches, last month they finally received a patch which promised to fix the 360's freeze issues.

And yet no one said boo about this. Bethesda has issues with the PS3 which were patched within a few weeks and we still haven't heard the end of it, mostly from people who most likely never touched the game. Borderlands 2 is screwed for months on the 360...not a word from anyone, not a complaint about Gearbox, nothing.

As games become more complex, the chances of there being problems becomes greater. No game is perfect. Thankfully developers can address these issues. If they didn't, then I think we'd all be well within our rights to complain. That's not the case here.

Just for reference:

@MmaFan-Qc

stop speaking for "most of the ps3 owners", Skyrim is obviously still one of the most played games, even on PS3, look at the discussion forums like these

http://www.gamefaqs.com/fea...

it's the #3 most discussed PS3 game, obviously plenty of PS3 owners care about and are playing this game and WANT to get these DLCs. the people that want to bash this game are the vocal minority.

RavageX4123d ago

I'm gonna have to agree, though maybe it was because I'd never played a game like Morrowind before(I haven't played any of the ES games before that)but it does seem like the games lack something with each release.

I liked oblivion but it felt kinda bare for a world.

Skyrim is different in that aspect, but something is still wrong or missing...I just can't put my finger on it.

On a different subject, I felt the whole dragon thing was quite weak. You want a game that does dragon fights better? Dragon's Dogma.

Reverent4122d ago

Oh my god, Dragon's Dogma is so amazing. So agreed with this^

NastyLeftHook04123d ago (Edited 4123d ago )

lol bethesda, you guys are a piece of work ill tell ya. -_-

Detoxx4123d ago

Mine to. Bethesda, you can kiss my ass!

omi25p4122d ago (Edited 4122d ago )

You have a donkey???

Oh i see. You mean arse.

Lazarus694123d ago

I wouldn't be surprised that the PS3 won't see any of the dlc until they've finished releasing them on the other platforms

10 Expansions That Are Better Than The Main Game

NoobFeed Editor Joshua Burt writes - It is now a mainstay of gaming that post a title's release, and DLC will accompany the game. Some of the most popular games of the last fifteen years have followed this practice. But there are some DLCs that are better than others. That stands on the shoulders of their base game, and in some cases… Surpass it. These are the 10 expansions that were better than the main game.

Damn, I feel stupid when years ago I played all the dlc for fallout 3 except the pitt. My younger ass looked at it and thought it was boring without trying I believe... Well good reason to fire up the old dusty ps3!

PhillyDillyDee672d ago

Bethesda usually does great DLC. Makes sense they are on the list 3 times.

generic-user-name671d ago

Solid list, I'd add inFamous: Festival of Blood, although it was a standalone download, it still felt like an inFamous 2 expansion.

Blood and Wine might be the best ever though.

SullysCigar671d ago

I'd also add in Horizon The Frozen Wilds. As I started it, I wasn't sure I had the energy, but my God that was awesome. Some of the best weapons, enemies and missions in Horizon for sure.

RaidenBlack671d ago

Blood and Wine is always the reason these "best DLC of all time" list gets made in the first place nowadays.
Don't think CDPR can come any where near with any upcoming CP2077 DLC.

Silly Mammo671d ago

I have beaten Bloodborne but though i have the DLC I never played through it. For now I want to wait and see if it gets a Bluepoint remake.

anast671d ago

It's the best DLC in the genre. You are missing out.

SarwarRon671d ago

I double that. If you've liked Bloodborne, don't miss out The Old Hunters.

671d ago
MadLad671d ago

I skipped on Demons Souls remake, but Bloodborne would be day one. I love the game, but it is very, very jaggy and really needs a 60fps edition.

anast671d ago

I didn't like Blood and Wine too much, but the grandmaster gear is worth it.

Skyrim “Special Edition” - What’s so special about it?

"With having no internet at the moment I’ve had a chance to go back through my steam library and play games I wouldn’t normally go back and play, and Skyrim is one of them. With the new remaster, and no modding capabilities while I’m offline, what better way to experience the game than the “Vanilla Deluxe” version."

" no modding capabilities while I’m offline " lol consoles. Also, modding tools???Ever heard about them more than 6-7+ years now???no?It shows.

gnashedout2693d ago

LOLOLOLOL right?!?!?! Bahahahahaha. Holy crap that was some funny stuff. I was LOLing all over the place. Someone help me. I think I pissed myself!

Xenocide72693d ago

Isn't he playing it on Steam...?

Kokyu2693d ago

"What so special about it? " you get to pay for it again......yeah

hirobrotagonist2692d ago

I got the game for free on pc and I have over 200 mods installed (many of which I converted myself from the original Skyrim). Within 120 hours of gameplay I've only had 4-5 crashes (always mod related)and it looks beautiful. Even on my monster rig the original skyrim crashed regularly with half the mods I have now and it didn't look as good or run as well. I'm more than happy with the remaster.

KingAlistair2692d ago

i have 600+ mods installed for my cousin, cleaned every dirty edit, ugrid 11 and never had a crash in 100 hours,ulta/4k/110+ fps unlocked.Looks massively better than the remaster.

hirobrotagonist2692d ago

Is there no mod limit in the SE? Also, what are your pc specs if you're getting that FPS with mods? I have a pretty beastly system and my FPS took a big dive with all the mods I'm running and I even dropped down to 1080p. Also, isn't ugrids 11 extremely unreliable and causes a ton of glitches related to NPC AI behavior?

KingAlistair2692d ago (Edited 2692d ago )

Sli asus 1080s oc,i7 5820k 4,4 ghz,32 gb ram.Its close to 600 last time i checked ugrids first at 7,9 and were stable.11 also seem stable, but i have the game for my cousin and brother.Havent seen any weird npc behaviour.Graphics mods i use are the usual such as DynDOLOD,climates of tamriel, folra overhaul, grass on steroids, parallax etc.Gonna try noble skyrim at some time.No aa,just reshade. http://www.nexusmods.com/sk...

AndreR2692d ago

It looks better than the original. It is obvious.

Perjoss2692d ago

Its full fat 4k on the pro, its pretty special looking to be honest.

KingAlistair2692d ago

For console players. For pc,2-3 out of 10 unmodded.
