Is this a new design for Crash Bandicoot?

Crash Bandicoot has been dormant for many years. The last mainline entry, Crash: Mind over Mutant, came out in 2008.

Crash needs a reboot. I want to love a new Crash game or at least put the character on Playstation All stars.

I would love him in PSAS but he would have to be free...sorry but I'm not paying for the most requested character for that game.

Omar teased him since the day they revealed the game and even when the game went Gold he STILL teased him in interviews....why didn't he just say

"Sorry but we don't have him in the game"

instead of leading us on....they made it seem he and other requested characters were going to be secret characters.

Missing the point.
I want Crash to be in the game to show a little bit of good that the character is in today's games. Not a classic that will never make an triumph return. If we see Crash in this game, we will see the return of CRASH! That's what I want, to see Crash again. And I know you'll buy that DLC if it's Crash Bandicoot. Don't lie, your comment tells me that you really want him too.

If the DLC was someone like Ezio, Agent 47 or Duke Nukem then fair enough I wouldn't mind buying them if I wanted the DLC since they are characters that not many people had requested anyway but when it comes to characters that would of made this game 10 times better, I'd rather it be free.

Ok sorry for my poor judge of character. I see why you would go against DLC, it can sometimes screw us over content wise. Well the article does say it WILL be free so you will mostly be assured that you won't be Crashless when/if it arrives. :)

Alan Wake was a great game and so is BAttle Royale. Those companies actually got funding and were given the researches to make great games. What's call of duty done for story lately? Copy every near future military story mush them together then Micheal Bay it? Now let's compare that to Alan Wake.....no comparison.

Activision's first Crash game was Mind over Mutant, released in 2008. The series dropped in quality long before Activision purchased the rights to the franchise.

One of the first things I did after getting my ps3 last month (from 11x2 contest) is download Crash 1 and Spyro 3 ("never owned for myself" and "cd got lost somewhere" respectively). Not a bad substitute while I build my ps3 game library, I'd say.

If this is a new Crash, then I'm not entirely sold on how fat he looks here lol! Will obviously need to see a running game first. If it means a return to form for Crash games, however, then they can make him as chunky as they like!

It will be very hard for ANY new Crash game to live up to the original classics. I think it's best to stay as close to the original character design as possible though as that way more people would at least be willing to give the new game a chance.

Sorry but if it was the Nintendo before the Wii then I probably wouldn't mind as much but ever since the casual audience has been their main focus I just couldn't see them do Crash. It's the reason I wouldn't like the Nintendo of today do a Conker game if they were the ones to buy Rare.

Give it to the developers who made the classic games, the ones which made us fall in love with Crash....NaughtyDog.

They should make "The Crash/Spyro HD Collection" It would contain the first three crash games, and the first three spyro games, and if we are nice enough, also including Crash Team Racing. Maybe just a download voucher for CTR ps1 classic. But the six spyro/crash games would all be redone in full HD with trophy support blah blah blah. Or maybe flat out remakes of them, done from the ground up. I would pay any price for this.

I can't see any other devs apart from Naughty Dog being able to save Crash. I think it is a testament to them that to this day i still play Crash 1-3 and Teaming Racing because they are amazingly well made and fun games.

I quite adore this take on Crash's design, it reminds me of the art style of Billy and Mandy, with a pinch of the Mario & Luigi RPG series (then again, I'm a bit of a cartoonist).To me, personally, The look perfectly retains the whole point of Crash's character; goofy and fun-loving with a cartoon-like charm.

Too many people here are living in the past. Crash was a decent game back on the PS1, there hasn't really been a good one since that time. Sony never owned Crash, they will never own Crash, and Naughty Dog probably wouldn't want to waste their time on an IP that has been used like the town bicycle.

I think a reboot would do Crash some good, if they took the proper time and care with it. It could be that platform games are just a dying breed and the people who played the original games simply grew out of them.

I have to disagree there. I played Crash the other day and it's just as good as I remember. Platform games may be a dying breed, but people like myself still want Crash Bandicoot to come home and provide us with hours of entertainment.

Crash 2 and 3 were great sequels, so I'm not sure what you mean when you say there hasn't been a good one since the first. Crash Team Racing is good and Wrath of Cortex was decent, despite the latter not being a ND game.

Why would Sony/Naughty Dog want to bother with the IP? because we all associate Crash with the Playstation and consider him the Playstation's mascot, like Mario is to Nintendo.

The best thing Sony can do is to buy the rights from Universal and Activision (seeing as how Activision have raped the franchise) and release 'Crash Bandicoot 4' on the PS4. It would have made an awesome launch title.

You are living in a dream world. Activision will never sell the IP to Sony, and Sony wouldn't want it. Why waste money on something that has gotten such a bad reputation lately?

I know the consensus around here is that Sony makes everything better, but living in the past doesn't appeal to me. I considered Crash to be a Sony thing in the late 90's, but that is about it. I'd actually consider Tomb Raider to be in the same mascot line of talk as Crash, I associated Tomb Raider with Sony and PlayStation, but that IP isn't going anywhere either.

I think people need to face the facts that Spyro and Crash aren't going to Sony, they never were owned by Sony, and Naughty Dog has moved on to way better things. Also, I actually have enjoyed Skylander's more than any other Spyro game, I think it was genus.

That reboot version of Crash looks really ugly. It's as if they implanted Crash with Pop-eye's arms. A character like Crash does not need a physical make over to be edgy and unique. He's already like that!

This isn't as ugly as the new Spyro design. Spyro was beaten hard with the ugly stick.

Crash got milked very hard, and then thrown away. Its about time for a reboot if they get back to what made the game fun in the first place. It was a different type of platformer not just another 3D clone.
