Nintendo is interested in the idea of the free-to-play business model for its products, company boss Satoru Iwata has claimed.
If you were a 90s kid excited about Nintendo’s upcoming N64 console, you likely read something somewhere about the Nintendo 64 Disk Drive, also known as the 64DD or DD64.
Other nominees include games like SimCity & Tony Hawk's Pro Skater.
There are some good nominees in this list that are deserving to be inducted also, but I feel Metroid has had the most impact on the industry out of all of these. Look how Metroid influenced the evolution of the Castlevania games, and the "Metroidvania" subgenre of games have become a prevailing force in gaming today. Especially now, Metroidvanias are bigger than ever.
I can very much see Resident Evil being added later too, bc it really did popularize and define the survival horror genre. I would say that one is next in line.
If any Metroid game should get the honor it should be Super Metroid , it's perfection in my eyes . 30 years later and I still feel it's the most epic shit ever .
The GBA remake deserves it or Super Metroid, the original was a very sloppy and rushed game programmed in 3 months and it shows.
If you've never played the remake, it's absolutely a must play, fixes basically every flaw in the game. Check out ExoParadigmGamer's comparison video.
“Before even Kirby was born, HAL Laboratory released the super-cute puzzler Adventures of Lolo in 1989 and it has held up beautifully.” - A.J. Maciejewski from Video Chums.
Don't confuse f2p with p2p.
If it's somthing like planetside I'm ok with it.
don't really see a problem with this as it won't really effect us , sony already do free to play on psvita and it doesn't bother me, there just shity little games they put on the app section of the store and alot of people will fall for it (except the hardcore) and waste there money. for a buisness its a good market as publishers use some of the profits from the free to play model to fund AAA games and coul keep some them from going bankrupt, in the end the real gamers win as we still get our luxury pc and console games.
I for one do not like "Free to Play" they are incomplete games. To have a complete game you have to do micro-transactions. If I want the best sword in a Zelda game I want to earn it via gameplay. Not go to a in game shop and BUY IT. In the game world we EARN power ups, not buy them. To complete a game you progress NOT purchase. I would rather spend $59.99 on a game that I can play and beat than buy stuff in a game to beat it. Purchasing DLC is not the same as they are typically adding maps, levels, and playable characters that are in development when the games are released, but not detrimental to progress and beat the game.
If they were to do this what would the games be on? Wii U/3DS, Apple, PC, what?
