I am just curious: does anyone else think that resistance 3 has fantastic visuals? I know they are talking about 2012 games here, but I kind of felt that the game delivered in the graphics department. The list just reminded me of games that are often forgotten when graphics categories are brought. For instance, I can't recall anyone putting up a game like la noire when it came to the graphics category last year.

I'm impressed with the way video game critics/magazines/ websites/ ect. are not overlooking games like Journey and The Walking Dead. It's nice to know that the little developers are being given a shot in these awards, and they've earned what they've received.
It's really tough for me to compare a high end PC game with games that push a particular system or stand out in some way. I guess personally I would have given Far Cry 3 (PC) best graphics and Journey best art direction (and best music, best PS3 game, best downloadable, GOTY,...), but I could see merit to various choices others have made.
I'm pleased that awards haven't just been given to the most popular blockbusters, and big blockbusters that have been given recognition (for example, Halo 4 for graphics; it may be the best looking 360 game ever) tend to have earned the attention they've received. It seems like this year was a pretty good year for video game awards, as we've had fairer treatment for the smaller developers than I can remember seeing for quite some time.
