Redguard: new Skyrim DLC pack, or next gen Elder Scrolls title?

OXM UK: "If certain stealthy manoeuvrings on the trademark and patents front are any indication, the next (final?) Skyrim DLC pack will focus on the Redguard, skilled warriors who hail from the nation of Hammerfell, just off Skyrim's south-western border."

claud34119d ago

well their is a path leading to hammerfell in skyrim that you can not access yet. So maybe the access will be enabled when this redguard dlc comes out

Root4119d ago

Noooooo

I want them to go to ValenWood for the Elder Scrolls 6 and merge the map with Elsweyr aswell since they are both small.

It would be great to wander around the map and see such big chances to the landscape and culture....from the big tall trees of Valenwood to the tropical jungles of Elsweyr

Tainted Gene4119d ago

U Racist!...... y u no wanna go to Africa? /s

(I being incredible facetious if its not obvious, lol)

Duckman6204118d ago

I really hope that is the setting of the next game as well!! I think its too early for them to be announcing the next game so this has to be a Skyrim dlc.

GraveLord4119d ago

Maybe they should fix Skryim before releasing a new game? Just a thought.

aquamala4119d ago

what's there to fix? It's only buggy on PS3

DragonKnight4119d ago

You must not have played Skyrim.

aquamala4119d ago

^^^ sure I have , spent 100+ hours on it on pc, what bugs am I supposed to see?

MysticStrummer4119d ago

Bethesda sure seems to think there are still bugs in the pc version, or they wouldn't keep releasing patches. Maybe they know better than you...? I spent more than 150 hours on the PS3 version and had very few bug problems. Does that mean those bugs don't exist? No, it doesn't.

DOMination-4119d ago

Whilst some of the problems that happened mainly with the ps3 version were unacceptable, a game like this will always have minor bugs here and there.

At least they can fix most major stuff now. I think the elder scrolls 2 had a bug which meant you could never complete the main quest. Imagine how that got through testing!

SnotyTheRocket4119d ago

you just said it, it's buggy on PS3. Some of us only own a PS3, so, we kind of want a decent version.

TheFirstClassic4119d ago

It's not any buggier on ps3 than 360 now, after all the patches skyrim runs just fine on ps3. I've had little lag and bug problems myself.

gobluesamg4119d ago

I'm in 100+ hours on PS3 and haven't had a single problem. Maybe I shouldn't have said that haha.

Runa2164119d ago

I played it 105 hours my first run through on PS3 only encountering one glitch. My second time through it I spent almost 300 hours and only had less than a half dozen freezes. 400 hours, 6 glitches. That's a better ratio than Uncharted 3 on PS3.

I played it for 20 hours on Xbox 360 and lost count of how many times the game froze on me. Loading times were better and there were fewer late-game framerate issues, but it was far glitchier.

I know I can't use my own experiences as an undeniable truth, but in my experience it was far glitcher on Xbox 360; I think the shitty nature is greatly overrated on PS3.

Darrius Cole4119d ago

A couple of things

First,
@Runa, I understand that 6 glitches in 400 hours is a good ratio but it still isn't as good as Uncharted 3 or any Uncharted on PS3 for that matter. I understand the point you were making but I had to say that. Uncharted on PS3 has been perfect so far. And I mean perfect. I haven't had a single dropped frame in 3 whole games....not one slowdown, split frame, freeze up, or anything else in the entire franchise.

Secondly,

My Skyrim experience was largely stable but it was still glitchy. I had a few random freezes. However anytime I tried to put the camera under the water my game froze up. I had to cross water, I had to make the character look up in such a way that the camera would not dip under the water, or else instant locked up game.

Eyeco4118d ago

Really because I've encountered quite a few annoying bugs in Uncharted 3 in fact just today I couldn't quit the single player portion it was quick saving but it's like it just froze on quick saving so I happened to quit the game via OS and also today when I tried playing online the game froze when I was connecting online and that isn't the first time that's happened to me sometimes when I first boot the game up it freezes wtf I'm up to date with all my patches, I never had this problem with 1 or 2.

DOMination-4118d ago

Uncharted is a linear game where testing for bugs was probably fairly straightforward. Skyrim is much more unpredictable due to the open nature.

Darrius Cole4118d ago

@Eyeco

I can't tell you what your experience was I can only tell you what my experience was. And as far as the performance of Uncharted on PS3 goes it was PERFECT. After the initial load screen, all 3 games run from beginning to end without so much as one pause for a load time.

I understand that other people may have slightly different experiences; but if you search the nets and check the experiences of lots of people, it becomes clear that more peoples' experience has been close to mine on both games. Clearly more people have had issues with Skyrim on PS3 than have had issues with Uncharted on PS3.

LAWSON724119d ago

maybe you should buy it on xbox or pc since you know the ps3 has a quarter of ram. i have played it on xbox with 300+ hrs without one fatal bug.

konnerbllb4119d ago

You must not have downloaded any title updates. I also have over 300 hours on xbox and the recent title update freezes my game every fifteen minutes or so. It happens most often when sprint into an area that hasn't been loaded into ram.

UnholyLight4119d ago

Me too. Havent had any bugs on my Xbox 360 version at all

THE_MACGREGOR4119d ago

I play on my xbox. Doesnt matter what console you game on. Bethesda went half assed on proper programming. I cant even finish the main story line. So gaystation isnt the only console having issues with the game.
yes i threw in some flame bait.

Knight_Crawler4119d ago

@GraveLord - You must own the PS3 version...I feel your pain bro.

MysticStrummer4119d ago

You should contact Bethesda and tell them to stop wasting their time working on patches for the pc and 360 bugs that aren't there.

A quick google search will show you multiple forums, official and unofficial, where people are still reporting bugs in the supposedly flawless pc and 360 versions of Skyrim.

I have over 150 hours on the PS3 version with few bugs. That doesn't mean bugs don't exist.

Reverent4119d ago

Considering that there was already a an Elder Scrolls game called Redgaurd, I think its a safe bet to say its DLC...

Personally, I'm really hoping that the next game will take place in Akavir.

THE_MACGREGOR4119d ago

I gotta give you a like for that one. And your the 26 morons who disagree. How TF are you all wanting a new game. When bethesda cant even fix the Shit they got going wrong in there game (Skyrim) right now?

GusBricker4118d ago

Yeah, it's buggy, but if you've played RPG's, you know you should have multiple saves and save a lot.

Duckman6204118d ago

Roughly 225 hours of game play (across various characters) and the only problems I've encountered was my game crashing when I try to enter the original Dark Brotherhood location after having finished the quest line, and 2 other times where after playing for 10+ consecutive hours my game has froze. So honestly I don't think the game is perfectly fine.

Bigpappy4119d ago

Time to move on from Skyrim. The Redguards could have their own story in ES6. Later down the line we can enter the world of the Orcs and so on. I remember with Morrowind, the last DLC was to the North of Vanderfell and was a Nord stronghold leading up to Skyrim. They were decimated by Werewolf attacks until I put an end to their nightmare. But Bethesda did not stop there with the Nords. Skyrim gives a true look at their neck of the woods. Same should be done for all the races (their own full ES story.

kesvalk4119d ago

if i remember correctly, orsimers don't have a land of their own.

i want a TES focused on khajiit and Argonians.
or dwemers.

ceballos77mx4119d ago

On what happened to the dwemer, that would be a good story.

mmunflor89854117d ago

Orsimer (spelling?) has been recognized by the empire finally. They werent before Skyrim, but they have a province of their own now i believe. I think a lot of war and racism prevented them from being recognized before. However... it is debatable now whether the empire is the authority to recognize this anymore. There was an NPC in Morrowind that basically said the empires time was almost up. This character was a representation of Tiber Septim himself. I believe his name was Wulf or something along those lines. I dont expect the empire to last much longer given the hints and clues provided. So in future games, i believe something else will take its place.

Summons754119d ago (Edited 4119d ago )

I still want an elder scrolls game with a completely open tamriel, and not that stupid mmo either. I want to travel from the black marsh to summer set isle by myself not online. It'd be amazing if they did it right or released one area and then released one a month to ensure a more stable game.

Mainsqueeze4119d ago

If Bethesda made a game like that and still kept to the depth and detail that their fans and themselves expect then it would take atleast 10 years to make and cost like a billion dollars. Sorry i don't see that ever happening. I like it this way any ways. This way we can have an ES game like every 3-5 years and the series will last longer instead of putting all the content into one game 10 years from now and then not ever having another ES game.

SpecialK4119d ago

What would be good is if someone just somehow stitched the games together to create one large map. Do skyrim and morrowind and cyrodil share borders? (cant remember).

That would be awesome, especially since mods are already out what make oblivion and morrowind look really good

Balcrist4119d ago

@ swpecialk: For PC there's a mod called Skywind that puts morrowind into the skyrim engine.

MysticStrummer4119d ago

"I still want an elder scrolls game with a completely open tamriel"

The original ES game was like that. I'd love for them to make another one that way but I'd love to have the option of exploring it with a friend.

Conquerbeard4118d ago

Pretty sure Daggerfall allowed for traveling from one end of Tamriel to the other.

Summons754118d ago

Yeah I've played it but it would be nice to have a modern one.

I'm Replaying Skyrim (again), and So Should You

Replaying Skyrim after 13 years is a reminder of the progress made in western RPGs over the last decade, but also what's been lost.

anast11d ago

I tried, but it's a poorly made game that insults its customers.

lucian22910d ago

nah, only mods make it decent, and even then it's bad, and this is after i modded for at least 3 years

Nittdarko10d ago

Funnily enough, I'm about to play it for the first time in VR with 1000 mods to make the game playable, as is the Bethesda way

The 7 Best Western RPGs: Immersive Adventures

RPGs are often huge, sprawling endeavours. With limited playtime, we have to choose wisely, so here's the best western RPGs available today.

SimpleSlave11d ago

"I started playing games yesterday" the List... Meh!

How about a few RPGs that deserve some love instead?
1 - Alpha Protocol - Now on GOG
2 - else Heart.Break()
3 - Shadowrun Trilogy
4 - Wasteland 2
5 - UnderRail
6 - Tyranny
7 - Torment: Tides of Numenera

And for a bonus game that flew under the radar:
8 - Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden

DustMan11d ago

Loved Alpha Protocol in all it's glorious jank. Great game.

SimpleSlave10d ago (Edited 10d ago )

Not only glorious jank, but the idea that the story can completely change depending on what you do, or say, or side with, makes it one of the most forward thinking games ever. The amount of story permutation is the equivalent of a Hitman level but in Story Form. And it wasn't just that the story changed, no, it was that you met completely new characters, or missed them, depending on your choices. Made Mass Effect feel static in comparison.

Alpha Protocol was absolutely glorious, indeed. And it was, and still is, more Next Gen than most anything out there these days. In this regard at least.

Pity.
