OPM: Gearbox’s ET-blaster has been pinging on Motion Trackers for years without ever seeming to scuttle closer to release: a sure sign of an express elevator to development hell, if ever there was one. But at long last the final countdown to launch has been initiated, and with it the Texan studio has unscrewed its vent grilles to let us dive in, Pulse Rifles ready.
Too many games aren't given a second shot. We at VGU choose which games we would love to see receive a sequel.
The Saboteur - criminally underrated and a fantastic mechanic of bringing colour back to Nazi-occupied Paris.
The article lists Bulletstorm, Sleeping Dogs, and Aliens: Colonial Marines.
Player 2 takes some quiet time to look back at some of the most hyped failures of the past 10 years.
Can't argue with any of those really, but I would add Resident Evil Operation Racoon City and Metal Gear Survive to that list. Both terrible games from good franchises.
Bulletstorm, I actually liked the gameplay but the atrocious writing and characters made me despise the game by the end of it.
Thanks to a bustling mod community on Steam, Gearbox's Aliens: Colonial Marines actually has a stellar multiplayer experience to offer these days.
No dammit no!! The alien animations sucked in avp, but at least now it is in 3rd person. The graphics are nothing special either, but I'll enjoy it.
4 player co-op, gearbox, and sequel to one of my favourite movies of all time? Yes please. I would kill myself if they had that stupid regional lock on matchmaking from the 2010 AvP game. Worst matchmaking in history, but an otherwise super fun game, both SP and MP... if you could forgive some of its faults. I loved it.
So is this game going to be awesome?
or is it going to suck?
Seems like it could go either way to be honest.
I had high hopes for this game but after watching this & one other gameplay video on yt not anymore.
First of all the game is nothing like I was imagine, I thought that it will be totally creepy full of sudden/surprising moments that make your heart stop, I thought that fights with aliens will be more rare & they will count to atmosphere to keep your adrenaline pump at all times until that one moment that u wouldn't expect it.
What I see in this & other videos is completely the opposite of what I expected to see, & other than that graphics could be better & the alien animation is strange & unrealistic also they r very slow & although they r coming at u by the dozens it's like they r sitting still just to shoot them & that make the fights totally boring, all in all disappointing :/
I think that it will be better if the next ALIEN game change hands & go to a studio which have ppl who know & can do what's necessary in order to reach the legendary status the movie Ridley Scott did back in 79'.
I think it'll suck judging from the gameplay vids. The Aliens do not respond to being shot, they are bullet sponges through and through. Does not suit this type of game imo. I don't think an Alien/pred game will ever beat AvP 1 and 2 from 1998-2001. AvP 2010's downfall was this generation. Animations and 'cool looking' took precedence over gameplay. A standard fault of this gen.
Yeah ninja hunter, the problem is none of them are horde games like Avp, where the enemy runs at you continuously taking bullets until it drops. in the old Avp games, they were fast and nimble, you hit them in the leg for quarter of a second with the Pulse Rifle, their leg fell off and they crawl at you. Hitting them was the problem/good design
It is really affecting the quality of a game like this.
I plan on getting DMC (January 15th) for my PS3 and Aliens: Colonial Marines for my Wii U. I am hoping this game delivers.
