Hitman Absolution Review | GamerSyndrome

GamerSyndrome writes:

"Voila, witness my above average Hitman Absolution review, in which Hitman Absolved to murder lots of rednecks…. Huzzah! Ok got to say Hitman is probably one of my favourite series’ of games out so forgive my harsh criticism. Ok the intro is a little too much like a movie. Can’t say I liked seeing 47 topless, he’s always been a merciless killing machine not really the pretty boy type, to see him sexualized was slightly stomach churning, like they’re trying desperately to capture the female market (yeah right)."

truth be told, as a fan of the series i was seriously disappointed in this entry. felt too funneled and the art style was just wrong in my opinion.

Same. I had little hope to begin with as the minds behind the previous Hitman games left the company and formed Reto-Moto after the horribly received Kane & Lynch. I didn't expect for the remaining people at IO to lose sight of the franchise that quickly by streamlining it so badly. It's a shame really, six years of waiting and they pull a Splinter Cell: Conviction. People often talk about the horror genre being in jeopardy. Stealth is all but dead in my book now.

*shrug* I liked it. It wasn't mind-blowing or anything, but it gave me what I wanted out of it.

Stealth is sadly dead, but this game is far closer to the source material than what Splinter Cell 5 was.

Agreed, the game was ok but was bad compared to Hitman Blood Money IMO. Actually, I've been scoping through hitman forums and fans of blood money all had the same thoughts as well.

How IO turned Hitman around, from Absolution to World of Assassination

On the outside it looked like a simple thing: Hitman 3 would now be known by this name and include levels from Hitman 2 and 3 - the trilogy would all be in one place. But on the inside, at IO Interactive, much more was going on.

You mean destroyed it with this tethered single-player campaign BS... And only the first few levels of the third modern game were on the disc! I'll never support this crap at any price-point! They've lost me as a customer.

Hitman is, and has been, a remarkable series developed by some of the best. Some are better than others, but every Hitman is challenging and fun.

Sure, there have been some stumbles and fumbles, but always in pursuit of the perfect Hitman game. The most recent trilogy is a masterclass in level design.
