There are a lot of games to be excited about this year. Games like BioShock Infinite and Grand Theft Auto 5 have been showered with praise since they were first announced and have been steadily racking up pre-orders. Not every big release in 2013 is so eagerly anticipated, though. Some are downright dreaded.

DmC: Devil May Cry developer Ninja Theory believes that they have created an experience that will not only be accessible to newcomers, but also still challenging for the hardcore.

In an interview with OXM, combat designer Rahni Tucker explained:

When I looked at videos of pro-players playing the old DmCs, they’re always in the air, they’re always juggling enemies around, and doing stuff that most of us look at and think ‘I have no idea how that works’.

We wanted to take that magic the pro-players could create and give more casual players a bit of that feeling. A bit extra hang-time, more aerial moves, the launch button is a single press without a lock-on.

In addition, Capcom game director Hideaki Itsuno lamented the fact that interest in the franchise has waned over the years, saying that this new layer of accessibility will hopefully reignite widespread interest in DmC. “As the series has gone we’ve seen new users die out, as it took longer to get into it,” he said.

“When it came time to make DMC 4, with the new hero and new moves, new techniques and skills, not many new fans entered the series. But with this new DmC, you can take the techniques built up during the old series, and the bar to entry for new users is very low,” Itsuno added. “Both old and new fans will be able to enjoy the game, and I’m very proud of them.”

I am the biggest SC fan there is and I am here to tell you that SC Essentials was not the greatest and Conviction made me cry how they killed my favorite game series. Just like how they killed Ghost Recon.

Suck means I have no motivation in finishing it. Kinda like Resistance 3. Ghost Recon I finished, but that game changed so much that I said I can't play this anymore. It was THAT bad. Even looking at what they showed at E3 to what the finished product was is enough to tell you they had no clue what they were doing. The cutscenes were terrible and voice actors were atrocious. They had an African warlord with a hispanic accent(same voice actor). Graphics looked just like GRAW2 and that game was like 4 years older. UbiSoft really took a backseat with that shit

Oh, I didn't mean it sucked. It was still a fun and good game, but not what I want nor expect from a Splinter Cell title and that is why it disappointed me.

Ghost Recon future soldier is fun too, but not what I wanted.

Dmc probably wont suck but still doesnt interest me. I played the demo and it was too damn easy even on SoS mode... probably wait till gold edition comes out and then borrow it from my friend or youtube the movies since its more story then gameplay.

I disagree. Although I'll be picking it up, if the story elements stray too far from that of the Metal Gear universe, and if the gameplay is way too repetitive, with enemies that aren't even the least bit varied, this game will suck. I don't care how bad the gameplay is, I just want a good story. That's why I buy any Metal Gear game.

DmC wont suck... by today's shallow standards. Gamers and reviewers find nothing wrong with lack of challenge, hand-holding and broken mechanics. They are only happy that they can get through the game easily, without any trouble. DmC is another game that was casualized and bastardized to appeal to the modern gamer generation.

@TheBlackSmoke: No one has said the game is sh*t because it has received good scores. What has been said is that a sh*tty game will get good scores because reviewers are sh*tty. Take a look at the casualized games of this generation and look at their scores. Reviewers love easy games, they don't care how broken it is, how cliched and terrible the story is, how the characters suck. They just like that it's easy. In the past reviewers hated how they couldn't pull off the combos that DMC pros could do, now that they can because it's been dumbed down so that minimum effort gains some undeserved sense of accomplishment, they LOVE it. Easy always gets high scores. Always. Enslaved flopped because it sucked, but it got high scores. DmC is more of the same so history is not on its side.

Yes combat is different and there are things I dont like: theres no lock-on button, you dont seem to be able to fire Ebony&Ivory in different directions and there is no wall run. People don't "think" DmC sucks, we "know" DmC sucks. Everything we've seen, heard about, read, points to a terrible game. NT have used the most cliched story elements, patched together stuff like weapons from other games, casualized the combat system, butchered Vergil, and threw in a sex scene just because.

We know because we did not just trust the review scores. We waited for years for a DMC game and when we found out there is going to be a new one we started to investigate.

We read every article about it, watched every single video of it, read every interview with NT and did every kind of research. And you know what? We are sure that it will suck because we spent 1000 hours on every single DMC game and we can understand this will be nothing like them with a single frame from this DmC.

I would trust us instead of people who get money from reviewing this game. We know what we are saying.

Well, I heard there are issues with DMC, with it being too easy, via combos and getting SSS rank incredibly easy. Lets also not forget the douche dev telling old fans to go suck it.

Lets not forget the BAD press I Am Still Alive had (the PC version), when the Dev said it wasn't worth his time to port it to the PC, because nobody will buy it, because nobody buys PC games. PC gamers were pissed off and passed on his game, due to his comments...I think his name was Stanislas Mettra. Google him. Even during the Steam sale, when that game was like $5, people said to pass on it, because the guy is a huge douche that doesn't deserve your money.
