Joystiq Top 10 of 2012: Dishonored

Joystiq - Dishonored is a convoluted work, and key in reclaiming the word "convoluted" for the purposes of praise. Simplicity has a place in the finest games, but sometimes you just want to get wrapped up in things. A scarf metaphor might have gone here, had it not come from the paranoia induced by Dishonored's deadly contempt for unshielded necks.

Dishonored was easily my favorite surprise of 2012. I'd known about the game since GameInformer did a cover story many, many months ago and I went "meh". I knew almost nothing about the game but a suggestion from a friend (he and I grew up playing games like Thief, Deus Ex, and System Shock) made me try it. I'm glad I did. Hopefully there's a sequel with more powers and larger areas.

It felt kinda cheap to me… both in terms as a tactic, and game design

There was a small game called Aragami that “borrowed” the blink, that was a good game.

Unfortunately I heard the sequel wasn’t good so I stayed away from trying it out.

The sequel changed some of the mechanics from the first game but it was still a very polished and enjoyable experience. You should definitely give it a shot sometime. The game's currently on sale on Steam

Okay thanks for the heads up, will look out for it being on sale one day.

I really did like the first and played it back to back as soon as I finished the first play through.
