PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale: The Game We Have Been Waiting For | Cinelinx

Cinelinx: "I have always loved Super Smash Bros. and it’s the one game that has always made me miss having a Nintendo console. However I have always loved the idea of Sony doing something similar. So many characters to choose from, so many ideas, and it’s finally here! The two games are not the same at their core. Is the idea the same? Sure, but anyone that gives both games a shot will quickly learn they are two very different experiences. Which is a good thing, we get to see a very awesome game with very creative ideas. At its core, PlayStation All-Stars is a stellar fighting game about some of the most iconic characters in the industry."

I like this game. I think more people should give it a chance, instead of just looking at the metacritic (Which by the way has a lot of positive reviews) and giving up on the game because it didn't exactly get critical acclaim. But yeah, the campaign is over in a about 15 minutes & the menu's really DO suck. But just play a few matches online with a friend and you'll realise the gameplay is really fun

princejb1344131d ago

idk i didnt buy it because i think they messed up the fighting mechanics
gameplay is fun but the special system to get kills is retarded
they could have chosen any other type like deathmatch, ring outs anything else but they went the wrong way

half the time in the demo i was in the middle of a combo and some guy comes from behind me and do his special(very cheesy)

Outside_ofthe_Box4130d ago (Edited 4130d ago )

Not cheesy at all. People need to stop with this "the game needs to adjust to me" mentality. That stupid thinking is the reason why a lot of FPS shooters this gen play like CoD. Everyone doesn't want to adjust to the game.

You need to be alert. If you know someone has their special be aware of that. So when you are in a middle of a combo be aware that another player will try to take advantage of that. Be prepared to stop mid combo and dodge.

I was debating to buy this since it's both PS3 and Vita versions or to buy another copy of Tekken Tag 2 since I had to sell it the first time and I really miss it (had to sell for bill purposes). If someone can give some constructive answer(s) that would be appreciated so I can make my final decision.

I dont know, if you've played the game on the vita, the menus actually fit IMO

spektical4131d ago

i think right now for $40 at amazon and bestbuy. this is a big bargain. you get ps3 and vita versions.

TooTall194130d ago

Thanks for the heads up. I've been checking out other places and it was still $60. Do you know the download size for the Vita off-hand?

memots4130d ago

I picked up the retail at $29.99 on Boxing day.

Plus i have a Vita so it was a no brainer.

bacrec14130d ago

This game needed more content. Any true Sony fans from day one would understand where im coming from. Too many unique characters were left behind. It just isn't good enough. Sorry.

r214130d ago

They're being added in some day and for free, just gotta be patient.

Killzoner994130d ago

I am a true day one Playstation fan and I have no idea what you are talking about TROLL. This game is PERFECT and to say otherwise tells me :
A.)You didn't play the game
B.) You are not a true Sony fan
or
C.) You are a troll
Now which one is it troll?

Nexgensensation4130d ago (Edited 4130d ago )

unlike ssb1 the single player in psasbr is way empty and i feel that the game is over price/rated when the most fun come from the multiplayer!

the inspiration was clear when the idea came to mind. the similarities are quite vivid. the problem is not its identity, that its a mascott brawler. It is the very sole fact that the game is missing its very own face. what is this game, and where is it going? if this game was a celebrity, it would be the situation from jersey shore.

and last, alot of readers are forgetting the fact that this game was already a thought since the first ssb. and for years we've waited.

StoneyYoshi4130d ago

Im sorry killzoner but you are an embarrassment to all the other true Playstation fans out there... bacrec is right, there are many characters that were set aside for some unimpressive 3rd party characters.

So since you probably wont like this comment go ahead and assume I'm trolling. Since I have only owned every Playstation system since the beginning. The game Isn't perfect. Yeah its a good solid game but NOT perfect.

Being a "true" Playstation fan does not mean you have to kiss their ass and praise everything perfect that has Playstation written on it.

Veneno4130d ago

The game is fun. You dont have to be a fighting game person to enjoy it. Fun is fun.

But the online issues are completely frustrating.

CraigUK4130d ago

Got this game the day it came out, none of my friends got it and played a few random games online. won a few, lost a few but in the end I didn't enjoy it and haven't played it since, if you are looking to get this game to satisfy some smash bros fix, don't get it.

If you have some friends you can play with then try it by all means, you might enjoy it.

PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale Launched 10 Years Too Early

Though PlayStation All Stars Battle Royale is a bit of a cult classic, it could have been a big hit if it launched in 2022 instead of 2012.

It wouldn't have mattered, Sony would've rushed it out and left it to die. More so now than before with their focus now being on SP narrative driven AAA games.

CrimsonWing69519d ago

Oh, but somehow Smash Bros. 64 made it work?

It just couldn’t compete with Smash Bros. and it wasn’t a free-to-play game like Multiversus.

PapaBop519d ago

I think it released at the right time. It's just after the success of Smash and Multiversus, it's finally time for a sequel.

spoonard519d ago

I'd be all in on a remake or remaster of the original. I enjoyed it because I didn't sit there and compare every aspect to SSB. I just enjoyed it as it was.

Magatsuhi519d ago

Sony should make part 2 and dump a good amount of money on it. Scrap super only kills and it's bound to succeed.

Father__Merrin519d ago

Yes the power kills spoilt it completely WTH was they thinking you should have hp bar that's it

God of War: Ragnarok Weirdly Makes PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale Canon

God of War: Ragnarok has plenty of fun references to PlayStation history, but now fans have discovered a conversation that calls back to PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale — the crossover fighting game released for the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita.

Nyxus526d ago

I wouldn't say canon. More like an easter egg.

Deathdeliverer526d ago

That’s interesting. It actually does make it canon lol. He mentioned it in a mainline game. I’d say that’s pretty cool.
