Need for Speed: Most Wanted Review | TheXButton

TheXButton writes:

"Whatever happened to Need for Speed? Actually, don't answer that question, we all know full well what happened: the series got split up between different developers, all trying to bring something different to the license, with the ultimate result being a scrappy, messy stable of racers that doesn't always seen to know where the race is, let alone what vehicle to take to the event. Two years ago, Critereon had a stab at restoring the focus of the series with it's partially successful update of the classic Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit, but then EA Black Box churned out last year's disastrous The Run. But this year, Critereon are back in the drivers seat, and they're updating another classic NFS game - 2005's Most Wanted."

wow is it really that bad? lol

His main complaints appear to be a lack of the ridiculously cheesy and embarrassing cutscenes that were prevalent in the original Most Wanted, and the fact that you don't have to grind away to unlock stuff.

Apparently being able to drive any car that you find is a bad thing. I suppose that's true if you treat games like a job and you need a constant pat on the back to tell you "Well done!" but for those of us who play games for good old-fashioned fun, it's a great system!

On the other hand though, his criticisms of the police chases are pretty valid.

No it really ain't that bad. It's one of the best arcade racers in ages, something a lot of reviews seem to say. Poor attempt for hits...

Looking Back to Two of Need for Speed's Best Games - Most Wanted and Hot Pursuit

Paul writes - "EA know a good thing when they see it, and for multiple years November was Need for Speed month. In a break from the usual routine, I'm going to be looking back at two games here, released in 2005 and 2010 respectively. The earlier game is Need for Speed: Most Wanted, which has the distinction of being one of the very best in the franchise. The second game comes from 2010, and is Need for Speed Hot Pursuit; which I'll talk about just as the Remastered version of the game has hit the stores."

I completely adore this game! In fact its probably my favorite racing game. I recently dusted off my xbox 360 to play Most Wanted 2005. Still a great game, though I do not remember there being such horrible performance. Like massive frame-pacing issues. screen tearing, latency. If any game ever truly needed to be remastered, it this one for sure!
