I Just Don't "Get" Dishonored | OnlySP

OnlySP writes:
"Dishonored is a brilliant new IP that shows a lot of promise in both its mechanics and story potential thanks to the incredible amount of lore that was packed into this inaugural outing. Played with either a stealth or action orientation, it is so finely tuned that every fundamental aspect of it remains solid. In spite of all this, I just don’t “get” it and because of the difficulty in pinpointing the reasoning, I have elected to write this belated post-mortem in exploration."

dishonored was amazing, a breath of fresh air.

dedicatedtogamers4131d ago

Yep. Reminded me of the Thief games because of all the freedom it offered you.

Pay attention, Game Industry! You can do a linear, level-based game that still has a ton of freedom. For all the pomp and hype, Dishonored managed to give me more freedom and options than bigger games like Skyrim and Far Cry 3.

One of the best ps3 this year, imo

Gamesgbkiller4131d ago

Its great game.
but I think the ways were you can play with stealth or not is not that good.
I don't mean the different ways when you could enter the buildings.
It should be a stealth game only .
try to play it sneaking only.. Its more addictive.

So essentially what we have here is another opinion piece about how a gamer couldn't get into a game and then ends it with a list of things that will "make future games better".

...to who? You? The public?

Could video game bloggers FOR ONCE make an opinion piece that sticks to the principles of KEEPING IT ABOUT WHAT THE AUTHOR THINKS? Too many times it goes from "I feel that" to "The game failed/flopped because" and turn it into a fact-based diatribe.

Who is saying that the game needs all of these "improvements"? Oh that's right, you and your "opinion" piece.

Gaming "journalism / op-eds" are the worst.

That's what happens when a public forum becomes available to people who aren't educated and/or trained to make comments in a public forum.

That's the thing, if he did state his opinion, the article might have gotten flamed hard by trolls. If he just said "In my opinion, this game was dull and boring" people would call him a COD fan and point him over to the explosions. In order to expand on why he thinks the game is dull, he tries and explains the facts.

I got hit hard on these forums mainly because I had a negative opinion about the Sony-smash clone. I thought it was a boring/lack-luster on all fronts. Smash bros Celebrates Nintendo, Sony All-stars doesn't. That's my opinion, but again, there are kids who take opinions as facts and follow the crowd.

It's really hard to share real opinions on gaming sites sometimes without getting everyone mad or having yourself get harassed by fans or trolls. Just look at the whole ME3-ending fiasco. Gamers can get super crazy.

The Magic of 'Dishonored’s' Blink

It’s a shame, really, that so few games have “borrowed” Dishonored’s Blink – in the right hands, such a power could be game-changing.

It felt kinda cheap to me… both in terms as a tactic, and game design

Abnor_Mal426d ago (Edited 426d ago )

There was a small game called Aragami that “borrowed” the blink, that was a good game.

Unfortunately I heard the sequel wasn’t good so I stayed away from trying it out.

The sequel changed some of the mechanics from the first game but it was still a very polished and enjoyable experience. You should definitely give it a shot sometime. The game's currently on sale on Steam

Okay thanks for the heads up, will look out for it being on sale one day.

I really did like the first and played it back to back as soon as I finished the first play through.
