Should a "WWhhhhhyyyyy?!" be anywhere near here?

Excalibur4134d ago

Agreed.
Not every game needs some tacked on Generic @ss multiplayer mode to be good.

I wish thes Devs would get it through their thick skulls that there is a hand full of games out there that pretty much have multiplayer locked down, it's been proven year after year.

They tack these multiplayer modes on with a half a dozen or more achievements/trophies and the community is dead a few weeks after the game comes out and you are left with an uncompleted game.

Soldierone4133d ago

Can't stand that! I go and start running towards the plat then go "oh wait, the online community is probably dead" and realize earning the plat is literally impossible....

DeadlyFire4133d ago (Edited 4133d ago )

Well Uncharted originally started out with no MP and it wasn't a real goal to include it, but people love it now.

Mass Effect 3 is great online mode as well.

Sure tacked on could flop in an instant or not if its done right. There is alot of potential with multiplayer modes being added to a game to multiply replayability.

Ezz20134133d ago

i have learned not to jude a game that put MP untill i play it first
uncharted 2/3
Mass effect 3
and now god of war ascension
all of them have amazing MP

Sandmano4133d ago (Edited 4133d ago )

You know for once you guys could give devs the benefit of the doubt it would be a nice change, eh?

But what Im I saying you guys are commenting on unconfirmed news you have all the right to bash the MP before its even confirmed or shown...

Root4133d ago

I'm sorry but why are people saying ME3s was good, it's crap and it took resources away from the single player.

"Hmmmm should we spend resources on changing the ending quicker so it's not a load of crap or on multiplayer"

As for Uncharted....the second games was good because they finished the game and they chucked it in there, it was fun, simple, addictive and was a little unique. Uncharted 3 however became COD like with it's gimmicks and it wasnt about skill anymore, just what overpowered weapon with it's overpowered mods I have unlocked before you

Spenok4133d ago

Just because it has online, and the franchise didn't previously have MP. DOESN'T mean it is tacked on.

Look to Uncharted, God of War Ascension, Assassins Creed, Mass Effect 3 as perfect examples on how to bring MP to a SP game.

Now you are partially right on MP being "tacked on" to add bullets to games. Several have done it JUST to put a bullet on the back of the box. Most notably for me being Singularity and Assassins Creed Liberation.

But jumping to conclusions is just silly here. You never know. Could end up being very good. They could make it very unique to the game, building on what the SP made of the game. OR they could end up making it a shell of what MP is supposed to be and ruining it. But that's why we just don't play it lmao.

All I am saying is don't write something off before you know anything about it. I thought ME3's multiplayer was a dumb addition, then ended up loving it.

rainslacker4133d ago

Why? Because Uncharted has it.

DeadlyFire4132d ago

Well Uncharted evolved from Tomb Raider so its only natural to see Tomb Raider Evolve further from Uncharted inspiration.

rainslacker4132d ago

Too true. It doesn't really bother me, so long as it doesn't affect the SP. If it's good like Uncharted's MP then there shouldn't be an issue.

yazter4134d ago

Gag me with a spoon. EWWWWW.

Aghashie4134d ago

Really... Unexpected i should say. Lets see how this unfolds.

AngelicIceDiamond4134d ago

How would they make that happen? The formula from what we've seen looks very single player esque. And from what it looks like I can't see any real way to implement MP.

Its about a character that grows into the Laura Croft that we all know. Adding in MP is random and will be very tacked on. Whatever, if true I just hope it doesn't interfere with the single player in ANY way.

BLKxSEPTEMBER4134d ago

Oh god....first GOW now TR....when will devs learn that these games don't need MP? Give me a decent story, good controls, and good graphics and ill be happy. MP.....blah!!!

VsAssassin4134d ago (Edited 4134d ago )

GoW: Ascension announced multiplayer months ago, and released a beta to streamline the mode. This TR announcement is barely factual in that the game is 3 months away from release without a single beta. I don't think this game will have MP.

PS: GoW's MP looks to be a wonderful 'brawl' type of multiplayer mode. It's fun!

Ezz20134133d ago

what's the matter with GOW MP ?!
every one loved it

Temporary4133d ago

GoW Multiplayer is beautifully done. Those with skill will love it, you cant button mash and be good.

I really enjoyed the multiplayer and wish it wasnt down til the 2nd.

The Best Tomb Raider Games Ranked

We've gone on many adventures with Lara Croft. With another reboot in the making, Wealth of Geeks felt it was a good time to go down the nostalgia rabbit hole and remember the best of those tomb-raiding thrills.

I do agree that Tomb Raider Angel of Darkness was the worse one 😂 I remember playing some of it and I took it back. That game was just awful in every way. I bought it used at gamestop and glad they had that 7 day return policy for used games 😂

Pyrofire9555d ago

Would it be worth saying why?

ZeekQuattro55d ago

Simple. He's been hating on the Tomb Raider reboots for years. I can't imagine seeing them at the top of a best TR game list let alone being on the list in general sitting well with him because of it.

-Foxtrot54d ago

Zeek

“Hating”

No no, just pointing out how TR mutated into a generic action adventure game losing the appeal of what it once was when it was more about puzzles and platforming over going Rambo, slaughtering waves of enemies

But hey, continue being a dick and speaking about me like I’m not going to see the comment.

MeatyUrologist54d ago

Foxtrot, I'm curious if you have played the most recent games. Sure the 2013 reboot was hugely focused on combat, but each follow up became less and less about combat to the point where outside of a few large scale story missions I don't even remember combat being a part of shadow of the tomb raider. Shadow was so puzzle focused it actually was a bit much for me and I love the TR puzzles.

I still feel like Rise was the best of the series and I was a huge fan of the originals. To me it struck the perfect balance of exploration, platforming, puzzles, and combat. Not saying your opinion is wrong I'm just curious what you think they should have done different. Games do need to evolve somewhat to stay relevant. Would you prefer small linear jumping platform levels like the original?

RavenWolfx55d ago

I would agree Rise for 1 and the reboot as 2. Shadow is a bit high, though.

Sonic188155d ago (Edited 55d ago )

I think Shadow wasn't even develop by crystal dynamics. I thought it was the worse in the new trilogy

Pyrofire9555d ago

That's right. Shadow was developed by Eidos Montreal who who went and made Marvels Guardians of the Galaxy next. (Great game)
Meanwhile after Rise of the Tomb Raider, Crystal Dynamics made Marvels Avengers. (bad game)

MeatyUrologist55d ago

Agrees. First two are correct but Shadow should be around 5-6.

terstomp55d ago

For me, Legend should be alot higher (along with the other two ). Shadow, I enjoyed it, but has too much has fluff, as modern games tend to do. Playing the remastered series, and apart from the controls, is very good.

jznrpg54d ago

I really enjoyed the first 2 games, Legend and the first of the reboots and the rest I didn’t get into so I never finished.

robtion54d ago

Completely subjective list. I really liked Underworld, I preferred Lara's design. That said I loved the horror/uncharted feel of the reboot. I think all the TR games have strengths and weaknesses. None are objectively better in every way.
