“War Z” trademark Suspended - Game will have to be renamed

There is something interesting showing up if you check the “United States Patent and Trademark Office” website for the “War Z” trademark that has been registered by OP Productions.

Straight from the beginning. Right after Day Z got massive popularity, this was announced, and the devs claimed it had been in development before Day Z, although there is no proof to back that claim up. Suspicious. Next, people can "buy in" to a barely functioning alpha build, which causes major problems with PC. Weird. Next, the game can be bought for $15, yet includes micro transactions... these same micro transactions are lost once you die, which is pretty fast. And we all know the rest.

The fact that they are being forced to rename their game pretty much proves they didn't start working on this game until after DayZ. If they had, they would have trademarked the name long ago.

Honestly, they'd be better off not lying about when their game came into production because if people actually believed that it started years ago, then how the hell does this developer take THAT long to come out with the broken product they have today?

@Bloodraid It somewhat has to do with DayZ. They tried calling it "WarZ" to make it similar to "DayZ", which was getting a lot of attention, and cash in on its success before the standalone comes out.

However, they filed for the trademark not that long ago seeing as its now suspended because of the movie coming out next year in June called "World War Z". If you search that in the trademark site, it has ones filed in May of 2011 and June of 2012. So yah, under 2 years of development on the game at most, though they did only file the app for their (WarZ devs) trademark in June of 2012.

I actually enjoy Day Z besides the interface. The only thing that makes me like War Z more at the moment is the interface and i find it more fluid to do things if the standalone fixes this then War Z can rot in hell after I somehow get my money back. As for their business practices i don't agree with it but before i knew about it i have to say i did enjoy the game and as for people saying they get killed every 5 min on it well can't say i encountered that but in my experience its just as cutthroat on DayZ

What happened with this game is what goes on with 99% of smartphone games. Fruit Slice sells as much as Fruit Ninja and there's like 50 runner games...and they are all shit.

When asked about lying in the description on Steam and having their game removed from Steam, they replied, "Our game is still on Steam. Give me $15 now and I will give you a code to download it on Steam...sooner or later".

I'm not sure you know what fun is. It certainly isn't bland maps, 4 hour re-spawn times and content you paid for being arbitrarily taken from you when you die.

I can live with rubbish graphics if the game is fun or at least competent...but WarZ looks neither. Incidentally, how long have you worked for the developer/how often were you dropped on your head as a child? (Delete as applicable).

That's a bit much he was just stateing his opinion. I didn't have the pc that would even run it but it did look interesting when i frist heard about it. i wouldn't want to lose crap i payed for on respawn ether but i get what they were trying to do on the 4 hour respawn time. They were trying to give you that sense of stay alive know matter what. I enjoyed dead island a great deal but found it to easy so if this game made it to consuls i'd pick it up without thinking twice as long as i get to keep my dlc on respawn. They do need to pay back the people who felt riped off, heck i'd like my money back on the ps3 version of skyrim.

Just saw this on their forums. Apparently they plan on charging for extra slots on a clan for this game. I believe 20 is the max for a clan. Want an? more then prepare to pay. Any other game charges for clan slots?
