OXCGN’s Game of the Year Awards for 2012

OXCGN:

"However the quality of this year’s titles shows that gaming is very much alive and though many studios and franchises faltered this year, more succeeded with some of the best games this gaming generation.

With a huge renaissance gaming year promised for 2013 in the form of new generation consoles, let’s look at 2012 as the last big battle of this current console generation for top gaming honours.

We gave our readers a chance in a poll to decide their 2012 Game of the Year, and the results came in with the beautiful and clever Playstation exclusive downloadable title, Journey. Now it’s our turn."

It was so much fun contributing to this. It was anybody's guess this year, very exciting stuff. Both GOTYs that I contributed to this year had different results. Amazing!

gaminoz4135d ago

It's nice to see some variety in choices for the different GOTY categories.

I've seen Journey win some, Halo 4 others, Far Cry 3, The Walking Dead...

Most seem to agree that the worst game of the year is the Vita COD Black Ops game though.

halo4 won GOTY award ?!
can i see link ?!

gaminoz4135d ago (Edited 4135d ago )

Sorry, I meant GOTY categories. Halo 4 won some at IGN like best graphics and here it won best multiplayer and shooter.

Belking4135d ago (Edited 4135d ago )

Sure did. What, did you think spike is the only award show that counts. Nope...

Plus Halo 4 won best graphics from the Spike awards.

aquamala & belking

ok thanks

The game that killed the Vita :(

BadCircuit4135d ago

I wouldn't say 'killed' the Vita, as AC3: Liberation is pretty amazing, but it really is sad that Activision just threw out a sub-par game to capitalise on the COD name.

gaminoz4135d ago

Glad to see a new IP like Dishonored do so well!

BadCircuit4135d ago

AC 3 and COD BLOPs2 barely get a mention, while Dishonored and Journey do pretty well.

RE6 not even nominated for the "Big Name, Big Shame" or "The Golden Turd" awards? I sense bias.
DO A RECOUNT!!

BadCircuit4135d ago (Edited 4135d ago )

There seemed to be a lot of mixed opinion on that game. Some really seemed to like it. I haven't played it yet myself, but I agree that the others there deserved it.

Was RE6 really that bad?

GenericNameHere4135d ago

I... Don't really know. I just got a few days ago, and I've just finished Leon's campaign yesterday.

From that short amount of time, I've already got a few complaints. Navigating the weapons/item selection is cumbersome, cutscene to gameplay transition is rough and choppy, guns selection is "meh" and you can't tell how powerful each one is, camera can get really annoying at times, frame rate drops, and constant throwing of boobs right at your face. Ada? Naked, can see boobs, but not nipples. A boss? Naked, boobs dangling out, can see tits. There's an enemy called LepoTITSa? Bajillion boobs with nipples all over its body.
Mind you, this is with just Leon's campaign. I have yet to do Chris', Jake's, or Ada's campaign yet. I swear, playing Leon's campaign, I thought Capcom just wanted to shove tits in front of you every moment they could so you wouldn't notice the terrible game that it is.

DeusExer4135d ago

I never even played RE 6.

Lost the interest in the series after playing RE5.

I loved what the originals were all about, not being converted into another action shooter.

Enemy4135d ago (Edited 4135d ago )

They should have taken the best idea they had, Jake, scrapped everything else, and given him his own story. Everything else in the game was so horribly executed that I'll have to agree with you on at least nominating it for golden turd of the year.

@ BadCircuit: I try not to bash RE too much, I love the franchise, but it's become clear that the fans care more about it than Capcom do.
