Five Reasons PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale Is A Smashing Game

"Remember claymation TV show Celebrity Deathmatch? The uber-violent comedy series ran for almost a decade and put unrelated famous personalities into a ring to fight to a gruesome death. It was far more light hearted than it sounds and proved massively popular for MTV. Its attraction was the completely mismatched bouts – a fight that would never really happen – and the copious quantities of blood, gore and gratuitous fatalities."

I've put off getting this game due to mixed reviews, however Sony exclusives always seem to be a cut above most games (warning: opinion) so I'll probably give it a go in the new year.

Hicken4135d ago

Unfortunately, most reviews seem to want this game to be SSB; ironically, they bash the game for being both like and unlike SSB.

It did have some issues with connectivity and sackboy being too powerful, but those issues have been fixed with patches. Don't go in expecting that great of a sp experience either. Just great gameplay and great online. Very fun game.

sdozzo4135d ago

Yeah, too bad it's not selling like it's reviewing.

Ok... so .28 million on PS3 and .08 million on Vita. Those are not good numbers.

Assuming this does not take into account downloaded games. Still, you could be generous and double the numbers.

It wouldn't have mattered, Sony would've rushed it out and left it to die. More so now than before with their focus now being on SP narrative driven AAA games.

CrimsonWing69515d ago

Oh, but somehow Smash Bros. 64 made it work?

It just couldn’t compete with Smash Bros. and it wasn’t a free-to-play game like Multiversus.

PapaBop515d ago

I think it released at the right time. It's just after the success of Smash and Multiversus, it's finally time for a sequel.

spoonard515d ago

I'd be all in on a remake or remaster of the original. I enjoyed it because I didn't sit there and compare every aspect to SSB. I just enjoyed it as it was.

Magatsuhi515d ago

Sony should make part 2 and dump a good amount of money on it. Scrap super only kills and it's bound to succeed.

Father__Merrin515d ago

Yes the power kills spoilt it completely WTH was they thinking you should have hp bar that's it

God of War: Ragnarok Weirdly Makes PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale Canon

God of War: Ragnarok has plenty of fun references to PlayStation history, but now fans have discovered a conversation that calls back to PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale — the crossover fighting game released for the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita.

Nyxus522d ago

I wouldn't say canon. More like an easter egg.

Deathdeliverer521d ago

That’s interesting. It actually does make it canon lol. He mentioned it in a mainline game. I’d say that’s pretty cool.
