GTA V Will Go Next-Gen... Eventually

GR's DeShaun Zollicoffer writes:

I know what you’re thinking, “Wait… everyone knows Grand Theft Auto V is coming to the PS3 and Xbox 360.” That’s true; the game will obviously still come to those platforms next year. But I believe that we will also see an enhanced next-generation version sometime in the near future. Now, before labeling me a dirty rumormonger, hear me out.

it look next gen quite frankly

Snookies124136d ago (Edited 4136d ago )

Mainly the scope of the game, its size is enormous... People think next-gen will be a huge leap. Really, we're already just about there in current games. It's not going to be THAT much different to be honest.

Snookies124136d ago

Why the disagrees? Do people actually think it'll be a huge difference to what we have now?

ILive4136d ago (Edited 4136d ago )

It's not going to be as huge as PS2 to PS3 but there as to be a significant amount of difference to warrant a purchase. For example, Wii to the Wii U. Otherwise, why release another console? You get what I am saying right?

MarkusMcNugen4135d ago

Triple AAA titles are hitting their limits with the current systems, mainly due to hardware limitations. If you dont think a significant upgrade to the GPU, CPU, and RAM will allow developers to make better games, you've gone off the deep end. Sure, it's not going to be the end all be all of gaming (It very well could be the last generation of consoles as we are use to them) but it sure should make for better AI, Graphics, Physics, and Connectivity between devices. When the lowest common denominator is upgraded, so too are the games.

I agree, People are thinking that Graphics are going to be like a PS2-PS3 jump, and that is not just not the case. There is a graphical saturation point, and its pretty close to being reached.

Wait till you see the actual, muddy graphics with 15-20 fps on x360 / ps3

edit: If you don't believe me, you will see that i'm right in about 5 months.

ILive4136d ago

We haven't actually seen the gameplay yet. Also, Gta games have not been the greatest in graphics because of their scope. They have been pretty decent however. GTA games have never really been about the graphics anyway. I do expect it to be better looking than the mess that was GTA 4.

Enemy4136d ago

Based on what, sped up trailers or bull-shots? Wait to see gameplay.

claud34136d ago

That's a given... I do not see rockstar passing that up

GTA V Will Go Next-Gen... PC version.

MuhammadJA4135d ago

The console kiddies disagree with you.

OneAboveAll4135d ago

Of course we will. Do you think we are stupid? We all know the PC version will be a crappy port.

clarkdef4135d ago

Why are console owners kiddies mate? How the hell are kiddies affording to buy these machines and the games that go with them?

Yes the PC version will look better I have GTA4 on PC and it does look better, it does this annoying frame skip thing constantly but it still looks better. Still prefer it on the ps3 for what reason I have no idea, just do.

Pintheshadows4136d ago

And it will be called GTA6. Probably.

DarkZane4136d ago

What makes people think they will release their new consoles in 2013?

If they announce it at E3 2013, it won't be released till late 2014. Nintendo announced the WiiU at E3 2011, minor stuff. Then at E3 2012, they showed more and it was released in November 2012.

They always do that. They show it at E3 and it gets release the year after. They don't just come in at E3, show it and announce it's gonna be released in 3 months. Unless of course, they're releasing a revision of a console already out (like PS3 slim and 360 Slim)

Don't listen to devs like Crytek who says they need new consoles. First party devs are still pulling more power out of them every games they release. Devs like Crytek need to start optimizing their engines.

Yes, you may be making a game that takes 100% of the console's power, but it's probably not optimized and the code is garbage that takes too much ressources. If you had optimized it, your 100% could become anywhere from 50% to 90% depending how bad it was).

The fact that First party devs can still do wonders with 6 years hardware means we don't necessarly need them yet. Also, the WiiU isn't as good as a PS3 or 360, so they really don't need to hurry. It will take about 2 or 3 years before they learn how to use the WiiU and make multiplatforms looks as good as PS3 and 360. No rush, no need to push a new console out right now.

MarkusMcNugen4135d ago

"At E3, Sega announced that the Saturn was released the same day as the press conference in the US. Their strategy was to release the console early so they could get a strong base before Sony released their console in September."

Strange things have been known to happen. Of course that was back in '95, and they made a couple mistakes such as not informing developers of the launch so they could have games ready, and the lack of wide-spread internet meant a 20-30 day delay for a lot of gamers who got their news from magazines back then.

However, it is possible... That was my main point.

Rockstar need to learn that 12 years of work and 5000 employees doesn’t account for one persons opinion on the internet…

Profchaos35d ago (Edited 35d ago )

Oh and hundreds of millions of dollars in revanue to boot.

Lots of complaints about gta ever since the hd era started and yet it's bugger than its ever been with gta vi up to 180 million trailer views alone. The next game is shaping it be be another genre defining game

MetalGearsofWar35d ago

They already learned they dont have to actually make a great game

sagapo35d ago

The controls of RDR2 felt a but cluncky indeed, but it’s not as bad as some make it out to be. At no point did I get the feeling my experience with the game was held back or ruined by the controls.
But it can never hurt to optimize them a bit, sure.

Zhipp35d ago (Edited 35d ago )

I did accidentally beat someone to death a couple times. An unfortunate mistake but besides that I didn't have any problems with the controlls

jznrpg35d ago

Red Dead Redemption felt clunky at first but I got used to it fairly quick. I thought 2 was easier to control but it could be my experience with the first game helped me out. Great games

Profchaos35d ago

I wouldn't call Rockstar games characters clunky instead they feel like they move with Weight they are not twitch controls press x to instantly snap onto cover the characters instead move like a actor would ducking behind cover they are exposed while they get there.
