Looks like Sprint with half naked anime ladies...and dudes, unfortunately.

Looking at the trailer, that's not really much to brag about...

The sobering reminder that not all indies succeed

As much as we love to read stories (and write them!) about indie success, as it means that the developer is living out the creative dream, there are many more examples of failed investments than there are of runaway successes.

Here's one story about a developer that only managed to sell 600 copies worldwide of a PSN game.

Fuel Overdose on the PSN has Sold Just 600 Copies Since Launch in December 2012/March 2013

As we sit on the precipice of Grand Theft Auto V’s midnight release, with millions of sales sure to accompany it, Skander Djerbi of I-Friqiya has some sad news about Fuel Overdose, which was released in December 2012 in Europe and March 2013 in North America. - PSLS

indie games that don't do anything good prob won't sell very well.

If everything is "just ok" or just a checklist item or something then it probably won't wow people.

MonkeyNinja3864d ago

Just curious, why the mention of indie games? Fuel Overdose is an Insomniac game published by EA. Definitely not indie.

KidBroSweets23864d ago

Well in the video it DOES say, "The indie game that refreshed the combat racing genre".

shivvy243864d ago

@monkey ninja , Fuel Overdose isnt from insomniac. i think you got confused with sunset overdrive or overstrike

brish3864d ago

Not always. Shadow of the Colossus didn't do very well sales wise but it's one of the best games ever made.

ABizzel13864d ago

True, but then you can look at the re-release of the game in the ICO / SotC HD collection, and together they sold over 1 million copies. On top of that while it's a great game, it's not a game for everyone.

NarooN3864d ago

Beyond Good & Evil bombed in sales when it first released.

Psychonauts is another game that received immense critical praise upon released, and also tanked in sales.

Just because a game is good doesn't mean it will sell well. Likewise, just because a game sales well doesn't mean it's good, lol.

nunley333864d ago

and alot of times bad games sell solely on it's name and not based on how it actually plays, like COD or licensed movie games. cod sells to some on how it plays but its many sequels are just copy and paste jobs so a lot of the sells come from people who bought the previous one.

TrendyGamers3864d ago

Wow, I never would have thought this was possible. Hopefully they get it up on other platforms to increase sales.

I didn't disagree with you, but I would argue that if the game is a piece of garbage, then the developers (not these particular devs, but devs in general) need to take a hit. I haven't played this particular game, or even heard of it until now, but it's sitting at a 51 on Metacritic, and even with Metacritic being a joke, it's a poor reflection of the game itself. If devs go on to make profit on horrible games, then it gives them incentive to keep making crap games. I don't want people to go broke or lose their jobs if they are good workers, but I personally cannot support a developer that created bad games just for the sake of profit.

Relientk773864d ago

Oh, this game.

I played the demo, thought it was sorta fun

knifefight3864d ago (Edited 3864d ago )

How could a game that critics said "isn’t satisfying in the least" end up also not being interesting enough for people to buy? It's like the game isn't satisfying or something :O

(Also the price should be lower.)
