Modern Warfare 4 will happen and Activision talks firing Infinity Ward heads

"Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4" is as sure to happen as the sun is rising tomorrow, but for those who did follow the Infinity Ward and Activision fallout, there is some new discussion regarding the situation.

According to a report from GameSpot yesterday, Activision CEO Bobby Kotick said the decision to fire Jason West and Vince Zampella was a simple one to make.

"You find out two executives are planning to break their contracts, keep the money you gave them and steal 40 employees. What do you do? You fire them," Kotick said.

The what was sure to be a multi-million dollar case was settled this past May.

Kinda wish they would do something else. I would to see the next COD go Cyberpunk

Kenshin_BATT0USAI4143d ago

I'd rather not see one of the few things I enjoy get ruined by generic trash and mainstream bullshit.

shutUpAndTakeMyMoney4143d ago (Edited 4143d ago )

or away..

How long will you or many console gamers fuel un-innovative money grubbing shareholder pleasing ass wipes?

Pc gamers seem to have gotten this message from 2007.

The witcher 2, skyrim, BF3, Minecraft & Metro 2033 out sold MW3..

Dark Souls sold barely over a million across 2 consoles & metro 2033 only sold 300k on 360 but sold over a million pc.

http://www.neoseeker.com/ne...

People say what will save pc gaming?
I ask what will save console gamings casual money focused destruction?

Console gaming is dying. Not as a platform but it's original spirit is withering away imo.

PC seems to be pretty much the same as before. The success of day z & soon destruction of war z shows that.

I want a ps4 but man console gaming is going to hell. Only stealth game left is MGS. Horror is about dead and fighters are just a dlc on disk vehicle.

Maybe I am reading to much into your comment man console gaming is going to hell while other platform are getting games without publishers.

Console gamers complain now more than ever in history and for good reason.

lol jus sayin..

ProGrasTiNation4142d ago

Its a pity that most people with no bubbles on this website also speak volumes of truth.
Im with you all the way man & your not reading in to anything that's not there.
Consoles have done serious damage to games this generation & having switched to pc gaming after finaly getting the funds to do so,i will never buy another console ever again.
I also won be telling anyone to buy a console as your money will go alot further on PC.

CoD and Creativity are two things you'll rarely see in the same sentence. As cool as a cyberpunk CoD game would be

MikeMyers4143d ago

We will keep seeing Transformer movies because millions still enjoy them. The same thing will continue with Call of Duty. Why stop the franchise when it still outsells all other games being released year after year?

Those two guys should not have signed the contract (if it was indeed true that they broke it). I personally think companies like Activision should partner themselves better with the people they have and allow more creativity. You shouldn't rest on your laurels and it be just about money. If you are the leader in the industry with the best selling franchise that is the time to use your influence and create something new. You need to invest in tomorrow, not just focus on today. You don't want the series to dry up and have nothing else to carry the torch. Tony Hawk and Guitar Hero are prime examples on wearing out your welcome.

"I would to see the next COD go Cyberpunk"

I personally wouldnt want to see a military shooter themed game go all emo punk rock. You have to make a totally new game with a different name if you wanted that theme.

Idgaf. I'll probably buy it, don't really care right now. Some will say "rehashed" others "new aspects of gameplay". We'll all buy it if we feel like it and won't if we don't.

In other words, move on people. Not just from this article, but from the overall debate. I think a lot of people are getting tired of it (the arguments), myself included.

Edit: to the people who disagree with me: next time I'll just post "OMG! yay more COD <3 <3 <3" and get a million agrees instead of a valid point that could spur a discussion with a fair amount of people agreeing and disagreeing.

People are going to throw in their 2 cents regardless. A lot of people (me included) come onto these forums screaming for creativity and originality. I used to be a huge fan of the series, and I'll criticize it not because I hate it, but because I don't want it to go the guitar hero route.

venom064143d ago

so they can't "copy and paste" MW2 again (MW3 did that)... and they can't do a future setting (BO2 did that)... so what da hell exactly is MW4 bringin to the table worth $60??

LackTrue4K4143d ago

MW2+2
"There it's done, wrap it up with a new cover and start shipping copies"

slaton244143d ago

what makes you people think it will be a CoD 4 it might be an all new different name for CoD.....they ended the story so now its time for a new installment

GammaSix4143d ago

BO2 is my last one since it was actually good and COD is now out of ideas.

Lets be serious, the only way they can refresh the series is to change MANY core gameply elements which wont happen. Also the engine is beyond outdated.

AzaziL4143d ago (Edited 4143d ago )

But they can refresh the series, especially given the budget they "should" have from the revenue the series racks in yearly. They could easily hire the best game devs in the business to make a new engine within a year if they wanted to. But we know that'll never happen so as long as it keeps selling.

Parasyte4143d ago

Never did like Bobby Kotick, and the whole West/Zampella thing makes him seem like even more of a slimeball!

Look, to be honest the FTC should just stop.

MS has A/B and nothing has really changed yet...if you are worried about 5-10 years from now...just drop it cause the future is unpredictable.

Take this week's news, that 4 Xbox exclusive are going Multiplatform.

Yeah man I think Microsoft here getting to probe is kinda wrong unless you only have accessed to necessary information not complete access imo.

Abriael78d ago

Obviously they aren't giving them the password to Sony's computers and telling them "help yourself."

Eonjay77d ago

"Microsoft allowed to probe Sony and Ubisoft"

Sounds hot...

ApocalypseShadow78d ago (Edited 78d ago )

Maybe Microsoft should also talk and get help from their "congressional influencers" at The Capital. They had plenty to say on the matter before the acquisition. They are mighty quiet after the purchase went through. Almost as if they had a stake in the matter.

Abriael78d ago

Could you perhaps explain how this is related? I'm honestly curious since you seem to bring it up rather often.

S2Killinit77d ago

He is pointing out how corrupt MS is, and how money talks. I think.

KwietStorm_BLM77d ago

I would say read between the lines but it's pretty damn clear as it is.

Bathyj77d ago

You should be careful upsetting Sony too much Microsoft.
You might need them to sell your subpar games soon.

TornRaptor77d ago

The games will become the best things ever all of a sudden.

Bathyj77d ago

Yeah I really doubt that.
I'm struggling to think of one I really cared about missing.

Hofstaderman77d ago

Bwhahahaha. Ain't that the truth.

Mr_cheese77d ago

The only exclusive im personally interested in from Microsoft is Elderscrolls and that's not even got s release date.

Everything else is genuinely of none interest.

OtterX77d ago

Microsoft never waits for the probing to be consensual.

derek77d ago

This isn't a major victory. They're essentially being allowed to call witnesses in regards to agreements they reached with Sony and Ubisoft which was initially blocked because Microsoft didn't make the request through the proper channels. This case is dead, there is no way the ftc will be allowed to unwind this acquisition.

Sephiroushin77d ago

they probably know case is death but want some proof to sue them for a few millions regarding other stuff, the ftc loves to sue everyone, be sure that as soon as all this end they will just go sue MS and end in a settlement.
