I purchased the WiiU on its UK launch date. I havent actually played it yet as its a Christmas present for my two Mario obsessed kids and so it sits in a cupboard along with a copy of Nintendoland, Super Mario WiiU, and 2 pro controllers... which i have just discovered are useless for both the aforementioned Wii U launch titles.
The fact that I bought two very expensive controllers at £50 a pop without checking that they were compatible with the games I bought is mostly my fault – I made the reasonable assumption that the official Nintendo Pro Controller would work fine on any Wii U multiplayer game when in reality it dosnt, you actually need to use an old WiiMote. In Nintendo’s defence it is stated on the back of the Super Mario box that the game isnt compatible with the Pro Controllers, but this in itself poses a question.
WHAT THE C**KING F**K ARE NINTENDO THINKING ?!?!?!
Seriously, which bell-end at Nintendo thought it would be a good idea to release 2 flagship Wii U launch titles which are incompatible with their new ”Pro Controller” ? Just the name Pro Controller sounds slightly ridiculous now, perhaps Nintendo should have named it the ”Severely Disabled Controller”, or the ”As Useful as Tits on a Snake Controller.”
Apparently the reason why the Pro Controller wont work with the these games is that they have certain mandatory motion controlled features in them and the Pro Controller dosnt have any motion sensors built into it – which in itself seems kinda stupid. If Nintendo is going to release Wii U games which REQUIRE motion controls then why wouldnt they build motion sensors into its ”Pro” hardware ? Also lets not overlook the fact that said controller costs £50 which seems way overpriced for something what is actually a pretty standard control pad. To put it in context a Dualshock 3 which is full of motion sensors cost just £35 back when the PS3 launched.
Dont get me wrong, the fact that Nintendo have made the WiiU backwards compatible with Wii peripherals is a good thing but for them to be mandatory, and the brand new controler to be redundant is mental.
Between this and the 3DS circle pad fiasco my faith in Nintendo has been slightly shaken. I’d always thought of them as pretty safe and reliable but now im seeing the same messy bullshit that has plagued Sony and MS this generation (Move controllers, overpriced wireless adaptors, small HDD’S).
Luckily for me around 70 million people have got Wii’s gathering dust in a cupboard so i have managed to borrow a couple of WiiMotes to keep my little monsters happy over xmas, and all shall be right with the world.
Merry Christmas to all !
Hey gang, It’s been a whirlwind few months here at the Larian castle, attending some of the biggest awards ceremonies in our industry, and we are absolutely humbled by the recognition we’ve received from our players and our peers.
Publisher One or EIGHT and developer Team EARTH WARS will release physical standard and Deluxe editions of LOST EPIC for PlayStation 5 and Switch on August 8 in Japan, the companies announced.
Golf With Your Friends gets better again, with the introduction of a Critical Hit DLC pack and the launch of Speed Golf.
Starting to think Christmas should be renamed "Give Me Your F*cking Wallet!" Because its ever been more and more about buying things and now that's not enough.
The Pro Controller is basically for any multiplat game that is designed for PS3/360 and got ported to WiiU.
You are not going to see any Mario/Zelda/Metroid/etc... game use the Pro Controller, they will be designed to use Pad or original Wii Remotes.
