What this ends up being either way, it looks bloody good.

Summons754147d ago

ugh....I wish Kojima would just confirm or deny this being a Metal Gear game. These assumptions are just annoying now. Yes the evidence is compelling but it is as of right now NOT MGS 5 or Ground Zeroes. It feels way to early to be announcing MGS5 4 months after Ground Zeroes was announced but who knows. Game looks great whatever it is.

I don't think fans are still speculating too much as to what the game series is, more who the characters are, the setting and other oddities. Some people are still wondering if the character is Liquid Snake, despite the fact that Liquid's arm was removed after his death and it was his right arm not left.

It would be quite a major revelation if the character was actually some clone of Big Boss or even Solid Snake himself.

@League of Draven.

Yeh I original held such a theory, I mean the lighter coloured hair is a clue, but then things didn't add up with the Liquid possibility. The speculation that the time setting is the 70's maybe 80's - even with advanced gene ageing that the Big Boss clones had, would Liquid Snake really look that old when he was born in 1972 and why would he have the classic missing eye.

Some have suggested that this is Big Boss during his coma when Major Zero started Les Enfants Terrible project.

As for the flipped image. I think flipped could imply "alternate" rather than "reversed". I mean, Kojima created an alternate version of himself with the Joakim Mogren character - or so we're led to believe.

League_of_Draven4147d ago

Remember when Ground Zeros was announced and Kojima intentionally released an image of the character flipped instead of how it is normally? I feel like this video was flipped too and that it really is Liquid. This means that it really is his right arm that was removed but now that it's flipped you're thinking it's his left.

I'll go with what I said earlier. this isn't ground Zeroes but rather MGS5. It isn't Big Boss but is instead the story of Liquid and Frank Jaeger.

Most of what they are seeing isn't real due to Psycho Mantis who has been sent by Big Boss to actually assist them.

bunt-custardly4146d ago (Edited 4146d ago )

@Morganfell. I am tempted to agree - Liquid was actually one of the first theories I had, but like I said, things didn't add up. I then spent several hours researching Liquid's past for clues.

Liquid trained by MI6 taken in by SIS, a young member of the SAS and what people tend to forget - a master of disguise much like Decoy.

I scoured maps for the training he had in the UK where he grew up, his life in Iraq and the Gulf war to see if the Cyprus map had any relevance to no avail - I assume MI6 training camps would be pretty hush hush (silly me). I even had a thought that the young mantis figure could actually be Young Liquid.

I researched those Green and White capsules which could produce hallucinations if the drug matched - of which there is no way of telling.

It would be great to follow Liquid's tale but I'm still sceptical due to the injuries sustained. However, Liquid was traded off when he was captured and would have undergone serious torture in the Gulf, so this could explain the missing limb and eye. However, a missing limb wouldn't fit with the Shadow Moses incident, but then again, the whole trailer seems like a metaphor.

A shame you can't post any more, it would be interesting to hear why you think it's Liquid.

TheOneWhoIsTornApart4147d ago

@League of Draven. If you look closely at the part where Snake and all the Patients are trapped in the hallway with the prison bars and getting shot from both sides you can see a stairwell sign and its not flipped

sarshelyam4147d ago

Totally missed the floating child on the first view...damn kid Mantis!

bunt-custardly4147d ago

I also wondered if that child who people think could be a young Mantis, is actually a young Liquid, something about that blonde hair in the elevator scene. Although in MGS we never got to see the real Mantis because he was horribly disfigured. I think it's the mannerisms of him floating, the dangling arms and skinny frame not ignoring the general wackiness of the entire trailer that creates a Mantis comparison.

Early speculation suggested that this could be a boss battle with a young Mantis which is interesting, but unclear how the relationship with Big Boss would tie in. No matter who he is. I'm leaning towards the character actually aiding our hero rather than hindering his escape in the trailer.

Now we'll have to see how much the Master Collection will add to those numbers.

Number1TailzFan174d ago

Too bad it was a lazy release. They could've updated the visuals and everything. Missed opportunity.

Stanjara174d ago

...and yet, they couldn't give more respect and effort into the collection.
What a terrible company.

Minute Man 721174d ago (Edited 174d ago )

Are they counting every game?

Edit: they did

Nyxus174d ago

Yes, these are total lifetime sales of the entire series.

ApocalypseShadow174d ago

.... mostly with the help of PlayStation.

Yea I don’t get why they’re allowing old reviews to be posted here. Someone did one on Soul Reaver and I got so excited thinking there was some stealth release of an HD Remaster, but no… it’s just someone who had a slow day posted an old review…

Cacabunga190d ago

I liked the game but for me it felt somehow like a military simulator rather than a proper MGS.. i got bored of that

micdagoat19190d ago

I do wish they would remaster all the soul reavers

micdagoat19190d ago

it was done this morning though

goldwyncq190d ago

The author was in a coma for 9 years and didn't get to play the game when it released.

Chocoburger190d ago

This review arrived just in time for launch. Perfect timing!

RupeeHoarder190d ago

Amazing how bad this game looks already. We keep acting like this gen doesn't feel like an update but I think we're starting to see it.

YourMommySpoils190d ago

Looks better than Starfield, Cyberpunk and most recent games out. Still fine.

RupeeHoarder190d ago

It most certainly does not lol.

andy85190d ago

Have you player Cyberpunk since the first day? It's absolutely stunning now

1nsomniac190d ago

One of the worst games ever made. Absolute overhyped trash!

Snowb420190d ago

The gameplay was great. It was the tacked on open world and repetitive missions that messed the game up.

Shane Kim190d ago

The game started really strong in that hospital, but after a couple of hours I wondered if it was even an mgs game I was playing.

KyRo189d ago

The hospital section was the only bit that felt like a MGS game.

MGS4 was the ending for me. I totally ignore the fact 5 exists. It didn't need to exist tbh
