The Koalition: "Nintendo’s latest console, the Wii U, has been out for a few weeks now. While the console has a solid launch lineup with multiplatform and exclusive titles to satisfy all of the gamer demographics, there are a distinct lack of great first-party titles on the system. There is honestly even a lack of great first-party exclusive titles to look forward to, for that matter. Nintendo has promised things like a new Zelda and a new 3D Mario, but when? What else is on the horizon?
These five games were picked not only because I want to play them, but because I feel they would each specifically benefit from the Wii U’s unique features."
Other nominees include games like SimCity & Tony Hawk's Pro Skater.
There are some good nominees in this list that are deserving to be inducted also, but I feel Metroid has had the most impact on the industry out of all of these. Look how Metroid influenced the evolution of the Castlevania games, and the "Metroidvania" subgenre of games have become a prevailing force in gaming today. Especially now, Metroidvanias are bigger than ever.
I can very much see Resident Evil being added later too, bc it really did popularize and define the survival horror genre. I would say that one is next in line.
If any Metroid game should get the honor it should be Super Metroid , it's perfection in my eyes . 30 years later and I still feel it's the most epic shit ever .
The GBA remake deserves it or Super Metroid, the original was a very sloppy and rushed game programmed in 3 months and it shows.
If you've never played the remake, it's absolutely a must play, fixes basically every flaw in the game. Check out ExoParadigmGamer's comparison video.
F-Zero has been a dormant franchise for a couple of decades now. In fact, if it weren’t for the obvious appearances that Captain Falcon has been making in Super Smash Bros. games, you could get the impression that Nintendo has forgotten all about the series.
Have a new F-Zero hit within the first 2 years of Switch 2 and watch it sell away.
Maybe Nintendo should learn to drop the prices on their games if they want more sales. I have seen games that are 4 years old on store shelves at full price.
We haven't seen a lot of franchise's from Nintendo. Mario will always stay as the shit stain of Nintendo. Mario games are fun and Kirby but some times you get tired of seeing Mario everywhere literally everywhere. They are playing it safe.
Looking for games like Advance Wars? Here‘s a list of alternatives you can find on Steam and play on Steam Deck.
Great list. Star Fox is long overdue for a sequel or even a reboot on the Wii U.
If Zelda, Super Smash Brothers U, and a new Metroid comes out in 2014 then I think Nintendo will be in pretty good shape.
Ah Advance Wars, such good games :D If they do make it, it better be based of the first 2 AW games on GBA story wise.
For Star Fox, I'd like to see a cooperative story/campaing mode. Imagine 4 people playing each one as a member of the team. That would be really good, in my opinion.
F-Zero is a must this generation. If you've played F-Zero GX on a dolphin emulator, you already have a littlr idea of how good a new, HD version will look.
there are alot more games...a wave race or that snowboarding game...they can put alot of uniqueness into those games..
There are lots of golden oldies I'd like to see revived, Stunt Race FX, Mario RPG, Pilotwings (even though the 3DS version was very good) and how about a nice juicy up to date F-Zero???
