Because it doesn't need it. Simple. Forget resources.

Levein is like the West's Kojima and his world design never ceases to pull me in and just simply blow you away.

Let's hope we get a "Would you kindly?" style revelation in Biuoshock Infinite too =)

What I don't understand is that companies like Bethesda and (prior to ME3) Bioware can make their games without multiplayer and no one raises a stink, yet when ANY other games come out there's always the inevitable question of "why didn't you add multiplayer?"

Ben_Grimm4148d ago

Which game raised that question about "why didn't you add?"

Usually it's the other way around, when a game does add multiplayer you get the masses (N4G) in an uproar pronouncing that the single player is either dead or gimped.

dedicatedtogamers4148d ago

@ Ben_Grimm

I'd hardly call N4G "the masses". I'd call the millions of 14-year-old kids hopped up on Call of Duty "the masses", and they are the ones who demand online multiplayer in every. single. freakin. game.

Ben_Grimm4148d ago (Edited 4148d ago )

I don't talk to many 14 year olds and I know a lot of older heads who play CoD that didn't care about anything else.

I only see the complaints here on N4G and other posts when a multi player game is forced into a long running single player franchise.

This is why I'm asking you what game that came out brought up the question from the masses of: "why didn't you add multiplayer?"

I can't think of any off the top of my head that raised that specific concern or question.

shame b2 MP was lots of fun to play, shame they never supported it

Summons754148d ago

Good not every game needs multiplayer and this is a prime example of a game that dose not need it. Look at how the multiplayer in bioshock 2 killed the game.

Shame on gaming news people and call of duty players for pressuring developers into forcing multiplayer in every game. Same games are designed for it and others are not.

Quetzll4148d ago

wouldn't say the multiplayer killed bioshock 2. being a big daddy is what killed it.

in bioshock 1, you felt underpowered. that was a huge contribution to the atmosphere.

in bioshock 2, you were this big brute who only had one real enemy to fear - the big sister. completely changing the overall setting.

some games are non suitable for multiplayer and BioShock is one of them!! I loved BS2 single player and i didnt get hooked at the multiplayer at all.

"And lastly, famous Boston Red Sox pitcher Curt Schilling helped to create the action-RPG’s setting. What’s really fascinating, though, is that the game was partially financed by taxpayers from Rhode Island (which allegedly lost the state millions of dollars). Yikes!"

1. Now infamous Schilling
2. No allegedly, it did. And they couldn't pay it back.
3. What really lost the money wasn't the SP release but the MMO they were working on. This was supposed to be an introduction into the MMO world.

I hate counting limited editions for these lists. I mean, they're made to be rare and expensive. It's far more interesting to hear about the NCAAs (even if most people know that one already) and the El Chavos than some massive hit that came with a $200 statue at retail.

gamerz272d ago

Me too. Here's the best I can do:

El Chavo Kart $90.14
NCAA Football 14 $87.72
Spiderman: Edge of Time $75.94
Spiderman Web of Shadows $75.09
Spiderman: Shattered Dimensions $67.76

Christopher271d ago

Wow, El Chavo Kart is not at all what I expected by the name. 100% looks like a Sackboy Kart game.

It's so odd that so many Spider-Man games are seemingly given lower print runs, even if they're not the best games.

Most Xbox games don’t hold as much value compared to other systems. Kameo, Blue Dragon, Last Remnant , and a handful or 2 of other games that I kept.

Fallout 3 and Bioshock Infinite are the rarest games of all time.

8 Best Games Set In A Multiverse

One of the biggest TV and movie tropes in the last decade has been the multiverse, the idea of exploring multiple dimensions to uncover alternate versions of existing ideas. From both a business and creative perspective, it makes sense why established franchises are shaking things up in this way.

However, there aren't many video games latching on to this trend, as rendering multiple worlds in real-time is a difficult feat and the medium is relatively young in comparison to its contemporaries, making crossover opportunities more difficult. Still, there are a few great titles that manage enough to overcome these challenges, and here are some of the best examples.

While I love someone mentioning Planescape, not really multiverse. Planes and dimensions, yes. But, they are typically their own locations and are very rarely tied to another 'verse' let alone another plane. The only things that are directly tied are the ethereal and material planes. Otherwise, they are dimensions created of their own design and goals by the creator/owner and not comprised of 'their own version of another dimension'.
