Who Cares About the Grammys?

thatgamecompany's Journey has been nominated for the title of Best Compilation Soundtrack for Visual Media at the 55th Annual Grammys . Lots of people seem to be pretty excited about this, probably figuring that the recognition from such a noteworthy awards ceremony will help to garner more exposure for videogames. CGM loved Journey and thought that Austin Wintory's score played a big role in creating some of the most memorable moments of the game, but, all the same, CGM can't help but think that seeking recognition from an established awards vendor like the Grammys isn't the best thing for the videogame medium.

The article said it's not the best for the video game industry, however I don't think it will hurt it.

i think its great that all forms of entertainment and arts are recognised for what they are. a good soundtrack is a good soundtrack and deserves recognition no matter what form it is displayed in even if it was a cartoon. i don't think this will have any affect on the gaming industry, if anything it would encourage developers to create good games which journey was

I don't think a step in the mainstream spotlight is gonna help the industry either, but I'm most certain it won't hurt it. Worst case scenario they will just laugh it off and forget about it if they win.

well games are on the entertainment business just like movies and music. this is a great recognition step for gaming.

there is so much more i want to say but im tired and tipsy.
