N64 in my humble opinion is the greatest console ever, the most shocking and innovative console of all time

Yeah, they were way ahead of the curve. Humans won't develop a third arm before 2341 AD

the ultra nes had some awesome games but just like all nes consoles you were waiting months to a year for proper games.

the ps1 destroyed the ultra nes when it came to delivering quality software. there were about 20 quality games on the ultra nes but there were hundreds of quality games on ps1. when i look at the ps1 it constantly had quality software being released

Y DO I ALWAYS DOUBLE POST!?
(sorry)

GiggMan4153d ago

Not so much innovation as far as the console but the controler was definately innovative. If I'm not mistaking it introduced analog and rumble to the mainstream.

miyamoto4153d ago

Don't forget the Sega Saturn 3D Analog controller was launched just days after the N64 controller for Nights into Dreams.

cee7734153d ago

Contrary to many beliefs the n64 controller did not contain analog the stick was just as digital as the dpad.

playstation contributed

dual analog to the industry
pressure sensitive buttions
and superior dual rumble (you could not play metal gear solid without this :)

nintendo using cartridges was n64's ultimate downfall remember ps1 games were $39-49
while n64 were $59 and up because nintendo decided to use the more expensive but inferior carts 64MB of space vs 700MB of playstation which is the main reason sony got most exclusives there were games with 2 and 3 discs in the ps1 era that would be a hell of alot of n64 carts for ps1 ports

InTheLab4153d ago

Analog sticks were around as early as the 70's.

Agree with rumble, however.

it is easy to remember that games before the N64 were mainly 2D and most developers didn't now how to design games in 3D, but games like Mario64, Wave Race 64, Bango Kazoi, Zelda OoT and Goldeneye pushed on in the new horizon.

the PS1 was also great making possible deeper kinds of games like FF7 MGS, and more mature rated games like RE and Twisted Metal.

and let us not forget the Saturn pioneering 3D fighting games with Virtua Fighter, Sega Rally was also a great classic.

Kur04153d ago

yes N64 had Goldeneye, Zelda, Mario 64, DK 64, Banjo Kazooie, and more. PS1 had FF7-9, MGS, Tomb Raider, Gran Turismo, Twisted Metal, Crash, Spyro, Syphon Filter, and more. Both absolutely amazing consoles.

I to was torn by this rivalry trading my friend back and forth he has N64 I had a PlayStation, however N64 titles were to far and in between for me to feel like it was consistent and the price of the cartridges was nuts, I think I paid 70 bucks for KI Gold, in the end the PS1

Was my all time fav system when all was said and done.

GiggMan4153d ago

Man those were the good old days. Brings back memories. Glad I was able to enjoy both.

delboy4153d ago

Exactly giggman, great games, and meny fresh games due the 3d every game concept was new and exiting.
Plus,no dlc and preorder only stuff.

TheFirstClassic4153d ago (Edited 4153d ago )

PS1 may have had more good games but the n64 had the best games in my opinion. Smash Bros, Mario 64, Banjo Kazooie, Banjo Tooie, Majoras Mask, Ocarina of time, mario party, goldeneye, conkers bad fur day, diddy kong racing, Perfect Dark, Mario Kart and more. PSX had so many rpgs though, it mostly falls to preference, they both offered different experiences.

NoFanboyRequired4153d ago

Both of them were great, but i found myself playing the N64 a lot more because of most 4player games like goldeneye, perfect dark, mario party and smash bros. Man i miss those days of gaming. Was a lot better than now.

I've actually beaten The New Adventures of Superman. And yes it truly is a heinous piece of crap. I'd give it a score of negative 10,000.

If only they gave you checkpoints for the indoor levels it could have been a negative 10 score. But that one missing feature completely ruined any chance of it being considered 'playable' and turned it into 'torture'.

NotoriousWhiz88d ago (Edited 88d ago )

Clay Fighter 63 1/3rd was legitimately a good game. Mortal Kombat Mythologies as well. Those two games don't belong on the list. Superman obviously gets top spot. WCW Nitro, Power rangers, and War gods were also pretty bad. Not familiar with the rest of the games on the list.
