Warhorse Studios showcases next-generation RPG, powered by CryEngine 3

DSOGaming writes: "Back in February, we informed you about Warhorse Studios' deal with Crytek. Warhorse Studios has got its hands on CryEngine 3 and has been working on an unannounced role-playing game (RPG) and today, YouTube's member 'Kubina14' has uploaded an off-camera video that showcases what Warhorse has been up to this entire time."

Chivalry: Medieval Warfare looks like that right now!

actually the upcoming ArcheAge also looks like this now!!!

So there you have it folks your Next Gen Consoles Graphics will look like this!

Psychonaughty4154d ago

I agree, it's very this-gen looking honestly.

claud34155d ago

It look pretty good.... I wonder what RPG will carry them graphics

Ashunderfire864154d ago

It would be wishful thinking if it's Zelda, but I say Fable 4!!!

elhebbo164154d ago

I pretty sure the game that its being made for would be something a bit more gritty and realistic.

KangarooSam4155d ago

Jesus, that looks incredible. I'm gonna have to wait for a next gen console :/ but at least I now know it'll be worth it ^_^

Everything in this video is static and that doesn't nearly require as much power as real-time rendered lighting, physics, destruction etc. In it self it does look very nice, but this is not proof of anything :P

Ck1x4155d ago

I agree! This does look great, but its not real world gameplay...

MikeMyers4155d ago

The buildings are static but the flowers and trees are not. It will also have real-time lighting. It's obviously at the early stages but so far it looks very impressive. The level of detail is quite amazing.

a08andan4154d ago

It's just that no shadows, from what I could see, were moving. :) But nevertheless, as you say, the level of detail is amazing! Can't take that away!

elhebbo164154d ago

the flowers and tree's where moving, so not everything is static. its CE3 so expect real-time lighting.

It's a classic example of a potential new franchise where the first game is flawed but has promise and the sequel is make or break. If they can tighten up the combat, streamline some of the more tedious survival elements and polish the story and game as a whole to a high standard then they've got a great chance of making something big.

KillZallthebeast1705d ago

I do hope it made enough to warrant a second game. If I recall this game had a somewhat smaller budget and mostly unproven team so another go at it will likely show pretty large improvements.

Nacho_Z1705d ago

So do I, I appreciate what they did with it. As far as I know it was pretty successful and they'll be working on a follow up.

Notellin1705d ago

Yeah it was a Kickstarter game originally. Raised quite the total on there. After the successful Kickstarter they received more money. Total budget was 36 million which is rather low by today's standard.

Spenok1704d ago

As Notellin said, it had a pretty small budget. As far as we know, the game has sold at least 2 million copies, which virtually guarantees that it's been profitable.

So hopefully that means a sequel or similar style game in the future.

I adored it, and will be going back soon just because. I loved it and its flaws.

bluefox7551705d ago

I enjoyed KCD more than RDR2.

BillyG0AT1705d ago

I've put hundreds of hours in KCD and still haven't finished the main story. I love just exploring the world, it's gotta be up there as one of the best game worlds ever created. Looking forward to KCD: 2! Switch version of the first one would be epic too, though :D

Count_Bakula1705d ago (Edited 1705d ago )

Meh, R* has fallen off anyway; KC devs shouldn't be so hard on themselves. Clunky gameplay, amazing story. At least they released a PC version for people and didn't pivot their studio to only caring about microtransactions.

KillZallthebeast1705d ago

The ridiculous 25-50 gb patches weekly sure didn't help the reception of this game at launch which I got, however the continued and fairly swift support at the same time was appreciated. Also the fact they stood their ground and refused to add artificial diversity that wouldn't fit the era made me respect them somewhat more.

KillZallthebeast1705d ago

I don't need some upstart disagreeing with me. Theres no doubt the games codes was decent.

mogwaii1705d ago

It was so great they didn't bend to that shit and stuck to historical accuracy.

Kingdom Come Deliverance: Where It Doesn't Deliver

Kingdom Come Deliverance by indie studio Warhorse is a unique take on Medieval RPGs. With an unwavering stress on realism and immersion, the game punishes players for taking the combat for granted while tacticians are handsomely rewarded.
