BeefJack: "While 42 percent of gamers are women, only 6 percent of the industry is female. In the wake of last week’s #1reasonwhy, we talk to Women in Games Jobs chief executive and industry veteran Gina Jackson about what we can do to change these numbers in the future."
This annoys me, Lumping in people who infrequently play Facebook crap and phone games are not gamers. 42% of women are definitely not what I would class as gamers. The reason that the industry has next to no women is not sexism, it is because the majority of women simply aren't interested, well, from my experience anyway.
I don't think I've met any women interested in gaming, My Mrs can play assassins creed for short spells but that's about it.
Get something interesting to write about.
In FPS games, it seems really stupid, not having Female Builds to choose from- But when you get into stories with stong narratives it gets harder to do (even though Mass Effect/ Skyrim did it).
Personally, Samus is one of my favorite characters. I wish that Samus had 3 titles Metroid Prime, SideScroll (Old School), and I wish they would go in a Prey/Splinter Cell/Deus Ex + a pinch of Other M Direction.
There is no call for it.
It's not often you see women in the industry. Do we really expect men to make a relatable female protagonist?
